Defense is HUGE this year

I really like that they made defense matter now, The new OOP animations are realistic and could cost you a game. Even playing a guy in position or at a secondary position that have bad fielding will result in alot more errors than any other MLB the show game. Adrelton Simmons and Kevin Kiermier are going to be 2 must haves after people realize that defense is valuable this year.

Agree wholeheartedly I had Adam Duvall of the Reds playing third base, which is a secondary position for him, and I paid dearly. LOL

I've also yet to notice a transition between animations if the field. If it's there they are super fast or well hidden. I knew humanIK was going to help with this but WOW what a difference.

They are definitly there. I pulled Dee gordon out of my DD loyalty pack and put him as SS (His secoundary position) and he gets awkward animations and cant turn a DP. Same thing with Chris Davis at 3B

I could be wrong, but I don't think he was referring to the OOP animations. I think he was talking about not seeing any gap or morphing from one animation to the next. So if a player fields the ball in an odd position you don't see him "slide" to get into the starting position of the throwing animation like you might have in previous years.

Thank God we still don't have have an Upton-Myers-Kemp OF and a rotating door at SS for this game.

I actually think C is the least affected. I have had Evan Gattis at C and haven't had one passed ball or bad throw in over 50 conquest games

José Iglesias is a vacuum at short! I usually play with the A's so I know the opposite of good SS defense.

well I haven't had bad throws but I seen a lot of passed balls already. lol maybe it's just me

Errors everywhere, I'm already favoring arm attributes and defense over hitting to start my DD team. Correa is struggling to throw out 70+ spd on what should be routine ground ball outs.

I've seen others say and honestly think myself that Crawford is one of the best SS in the game. He doesn't have Simmons defensive ratings but they are more than sufficient and his offense is just worlds better. Bought him for 10k no regrets

I got Simmons in my loyalty pick. Been snagging ground balls like its candy haha.. Also Castro at 2nd 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

Yeah, this was one of my biggest concerns last year (that defensive stats didn't really matter for the most part).

It's extremely noticeable this year with players with low fielding. They don't have access to good animations and thus cannot complete tough plays. On the flip side, elite fielders are amazing and can make highlight plays routinely.

Kiermier is incredible with his 99 arm strength and fielding. He gunned out a 99 speed player tagging up on 3rd from the middle of the outfield, not once but twice in a single game for me.
