Re: Defense is HUGE this year
Yeah, I had an outfielder get hit in the eye by a fly ball. He's out for six days now. Fielding is most certainly important.Comment

Re: Defense is HUGE this year
Yeah I had a bad day on defense today. Got bad jumps, routes, throws. You name it I did it and boy it showed.
I got a chuckle out of reading that. Hit in the eye, dude that just, wow.Comment

I haven't seen Correa much but is he that bad in real baseball? If not, then maybe editing him would help.Comment

Re: Defense is HUGE this year
I really like that they made defense matter now, The new OOP animations are realistic and could cost you a game. Even playing a guy in position or at a secondary position that have bad fielding will result in alot more errors than any other MLB the show game. Adrelton Simmons and Kevin Kiermier are going to be 2 must haves after people realize that defense is valuable this year.Comment

Re: Defense is HUGE this year
I'm seeing great plays being made in the field by both myself and the cpu.
Played a ST game last night vs the Mets and David Wright made a diving stop in the hole going to his left, got up quickly and fired out the runner at 2nd and then the 2B turned the double play. Even though it happened to me, I loved it.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: Defense is HUGE this year
two things i noticed:
+Cespedes botches a routine fly ball in the install demo.
+ in 1 and 1/2 games at third Headley fumbled a routine grounder and had bad range at a easily playable grounder which got past him into left.
so far so good.Comment

Re: Defense is HUGE this year
Are we talking about Carlos Correa? If so he's at least above average and scouts have said for a few years that defensively he was ready for the MLB. His hitting has caught up now and that's why they brought him up, but overall he's a good defender. He's still young and makes mistakes but the arm strength is there.

Re: Defense is HUGE this year
Posted this in the media thread, but yeah...it definitely matters. This is from a CPU vs CPU game I watched last night.

Ouch. At least Schwarbs' bat makes up for it...Comment

Re: Defense is HUGE this year
That's nice, but I'm more interested in CPU vs User and how defense matters for both. Like I said earlier, if Correa is having trouble throwing out baserunners with speed in the 70's, how are the other shortstops in the game doing? I've looked and not many with better arm ratings than Correa.
Reyes has made some nice throws but has also chucked some balls in the dugoutComment
