Why do people ask this question every year?
I have yet to come across an iteration of MLB that is worst than the year before.

Hitting and hit variety is muched improved.
Graphics are better and additional equipment makes players look more true to life
Commentary is better (slightly)
A lot of little details have been added

There also a bunch of "real" players added to the game that were not in 2014.
Correa, Seager, Schwaber, etc...

Having played 14,15,and 16 I think you could make the argument either way. If you're a guy that has to have the most updated rosters or you may lose interest then 16 is the answer. 15 is a very fun game and you can do some different things with it to keep yourself occupied. For example, I found that taking a bad team and then turning on the "auto" option for everything and just sim season one and see what trades the CPU made heading into the 2016 season to be fun. It allows you to make your own moves and may keep you engaged. If you like the DD mode a lot then I would go with 16 because they seemed to work on it a lot.

Heck, if you made it this long with 14, & you have a franchise you want to carry over,
spend the $20 on 15, then around October grab 16 on the cheap & then carry over again.

I asked because I've read a few impressions where people said 16 was basically a $60.00 roster update.

It's not a question of whether or not this year's version is better than the one before. It's a matter of whether it's so improved that it justifies the extra expenditure. It's a pretty obvious, common sense concern.

No matter how good a game is or how improved a game is there are always some people that say that lol. I have heard a few people say that madden 16 is a roster update or even worse than 15 when madden 16 is better in like ever way and when it is just about the biggest jump you are ever going to see in just one year for any sport game ever made.

I found Mlb 14 the first one on ps4 to be a little worse than MLB 13 was on ps3. The game looked 100% like 13 did on ps3 out side of better lighting and played a little worse.

If you can unearth $60, it's a really good game. A lot of improvements in the gameplay itself. I am not a fan of the circle graphs, the smaller fonts and I really miss the season stats when a batter comes to the plate (Ave. HR. RBI) but maybe that is something they will try to patch. Either way it's a really good playing game with a high fun factor. As far as I am concerned it was $60 well spent.

Are you playing with broadcast presentation on, because I'm seeing season stats AND series stats when a batter comes to the plate.

Yes sir, but I do need to correct myself on that. I just started game 8 of my franchise and it is now showing current season stats. Maybe I didn't allow enough games to be played before speaking on that.

While I don't agree with everything said here, I will say The Show could use a new engine. Currently, it reminds me of a prettier '09 game with some of the things still remaining from that game. Having said that, I would still recommend 16 over 15 just for the ability to play an entire series without having to go to the memu in RttS.

I'm primarily a Franchise mode player with a little bit of Diamond Dynasty sprinkled in. I've only played a few games, but would easily recommend MLB The Show 16 over MLB The Show 15. SDS already setting the bar high for 2016 Sports Game of the Year.

It's not a question of whether or not this year's version is better than the one before. It's a matter of whether it's so improved that it justifies the extra expenditure. It's a pretty obvious, common sense concern.

It is, but 90% of the responses are automatically going to be in favor of buying the latest game, for a variety of reasons. That's going to be the case with every yearly sports game out there this early after release. 5-6 months down the road maybe it's different.

Yes. Honestly, 15 is a minor upgrade to 14 while 16 is a big upgrade from 15 so buying 15 is almost a waste. If you're gonna buy 15 then you might as well stay with 14. I'm a stickler for graphics, and 16 actually really impressed me. I thought the pbr they were talking about wouldn't be Jack, but I was wrong. It actually makes a big difference, and while the player models are still the same, they look a little bitter. Plus, diamond dynasty is really improved and addicting. Get 16, just take the jump. If you're low on money, don't waste twenty on 15 because it's not an upgrade of 14 outside diamond dynasty.
