    Question about PSN downloadable version

I never play The Show online, only offline. If I purchase the downloadable version of The Show 16 on the PSN instead of a disc, my two biggest concerns are...
    1. If PSN goes down temporarily, can I still play it?
    2. If I don't keep my internet connected, will that ever cause problems in any way with the game?

    Thanks!

    1) Yes, as long as your PS4 is activated as the primary PS4 on your account. To do this, Go into settings/account management and select "Activate as your Primary PS4". It might already be activated, in which case it will be grayed out and you don't need to do anything.

    2) Aside from not being able to download any patches unless you actually connect, no.

I am almost 100% sure that you have to be connected to the internet to be able to play a digital game you downloaded. That way the game can be verified

This is exactly why I'm asking. It doesn't seem like any website has a definitive answer about this. It seems like when the PS4 came out this was something reported as being a problem and then other people have said the primary account thing, and others have said other things and... well, anyway, I thought I'd ask here because online it's not clear and the Sony site doesn't seem to have a direct answer anywhere.

I just now signed out of PSN, disconnected my internet through the Network settings option, and fired up The Show 16 without any problems. And my other games play too, even The Division which is a totally online game (it starts up, but of course doesn't do anything when it tries to connect to the servers).

The only thing I get when reaching the main menu is a nag screen telling me to sign in to use network features. But I can still play the game just fine.

The same question was asked about NBA2k14 PS4, and I also had the same concerns as you. If I had to be forever connected to the network, I don't know what to think.

Anyways, MLB16 will still work for offline modes if you are permanently disconnected from the network, but obviously, if you are looking to play any online mode and anything within the game that requires a network connection, that portion won't work.

I bought the PSN digital version a couple days ago. I also purposely disconnected from the internet (under your PS4 setting, you uncheck the box where it says connect to the internet). I also just checked right now and my offline franchise still works.

This is false. All you have to do to check is disconnect your system from the internet and try to play. It will work. Like dude said above, as long as your system is the "Primary PS4" on your account you'll have zero issues playing.

Thank you so much for checking that, that is really fantastic to hear. I have no downloaded titles to try this with. I'd much rather just buy it online for the lower price. I live in Paris and getting a disc copy becomes difficult. I thought maybe there might be a music issue with Sounds of the Show tracks getting blocked if they weren't legal but I guess if the game works fine without PSN OR even an ethernet cable plugged in, everything should be fine.

One thing that sucks that I just found out a few months ago is that if you get something threw PlayStation+ and than you don't have PSN+ latter you cant play it. That sucks because I don't play online like at all but I tried PSN+ just to see what it is like and now I cant play the infamous DLC thing because I bought it threw PSN+. So I spent $15 on that and know I cant play it with out +. So that means I wasted $15 and I never did play it but was going to at some point.

That's weird I'm pretty sure it's only if you downloaded something for free like the monthly free PS Plus games, everything else even discounted additions should still work.

If you spent money it should be yours, might be worth reaching out in case it is some sort of error, unless the DLC is online and needs PS+ to play.

While I was just going to say the free month things to you cant play after with out PS plus and I didn't now that either but to pay for something and then not be able to play it sucks. The DLC I am talking about I think was 15 with PS+ and I think 25 with out or something and I don't see how it would be a online DLC thing really because I think it is just some story DLC type of thing.

Have you tired restoring the licences for it if DLC even has that option?

Isn't the restoring licenses just a system setting? I don't think it is a setting for ever game or ever DLC. I know a while back I had a problem were DLC was not showing up and I did the restore thing and just like that my DLC was back and for the most part I don't get a lot of DLC but drive club had so much DLC is was almost like getting a new game so it was worth it. I also got all the DLC for batman arkham knight as the arkham games are all way high on my list of favorite games ever played.

                            Yes, buy it.

You can play whether on line or not, and as someone else said, patches/rosters will be the only thing you cannot get (and can with a USB stick and separate Internet connection).

MLB was the first I ever did on ps4, I won't buy it any other way now BUT digital.
