This year I just seem to trust his calls much more than in years past.

Re: Do you trust your catcher?
I've always let the catcher call the whole game. The only time I don't throw what he calls for is if I make a mistake.
It's probably a coincidence, but in my Braves franchise it seemed AJ always called for every pitch from all of my pitchers in 15, but anytime Bethancourt got some time in he called only two pitches all game. Fastball and changeup, or fastball and slider. He'd never call for cutters, curves, or even 2 seamers. That's why I traded him for another C prospect, but I don't remember how he called.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: Do you trust your catcher?
I wouldn't recommend aiming right at the glove once you reach this point, though - the hitters get a lot better and can cover more of the plate, meaning they'll mash you if you try to throw strikes all the time. Aim more to the corners, using the glove as more of a guide than a target.
Good luck! Pitching on AS and above is a whole other ballgame because your pitches will be a little more inaccurate naturally.Comment

Re: Do you trust your catcher?
I'd say 95-99% of the time I throw pitch type and location called by the catcher and have success.Comment

Re: Do you trust your catcher?
I trust my catcher to an extent. I try to stick to the pitch calls and locations but when I see the cpu calling for a fastball high in the zone multiple times when one the hitters hot/cold zone shows he is red up in the zone but blue low and away. I tend to say why aren't you calling pitches low and away. Especially, when I have already thrown 3 fastballs up in the zone and I don't get a call for an offspeed low in the zone.Comment

Re: Do you trust your catcher?
For the most part I do trust my catcher, every now and then I will change it up if I feel they are calling for the same pitch too many times in a row. Or If the guy with the controller has had trouble spotting a pitch they call for

Re: Do you trust your catcher?
I usually pitch my own game. There are times when the catcher will call for a high curve ball right at a hitters hot zone.Make #FranchiseNation great again!
This thing called Twitter I do sometimes
What's your thoughts? It's a game.

Re: Do you trust your catcher?
Well I pitched my final Spring Training game using only what the catcher called (Catcher was Eric Fryer BTW)
I gave up 15 hits, 9 runs, and 4 homers.
Granted some of that was mistake in location and such, but I'm not so sure about listening to the catcher 100% of the time anymore.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: Do you trust your catcher?
I used to call my own games. I never paid any attention to the catcher. More & more, I've been incorporating what the catcher calls. I think it's helped.
He has certainly helped me out of some tight situations late in the game with runners on. I also shook him off a couple times & gave up a dinger. I've also let him call some pitches & locations and gotten the pitch framed perfectly or gotten a swing & a miss.
Seems to there is something to what the catcher is calling.Comment

Re: Do you trust your catcher?
I like to figure out what works & doesn't work, on my own. I don't need anyone that hides behind a mask to hold my hand. Did Peyton Manning let his center call the plays? I didn't think soT-BONE.

Re: Do you trust your catcher?
I have an idea of how I want to work a hitter, and I've found that the catcher ends up calling what I'm thinking about 60-70% of the time.Comment

Re: Do you trust your catcher?
When you get to vanilla All-Star, you can still watch the catcher's signs. He'll give you the finger for which pitch to call (1-2-3-4-5). He just stops giving you locations. It's easy to miss, though.Comment

Re: Do you trust your catcher?
Yeah - had one game tonight where I was like "was thinking that" pretty much through the whole game.
It was kinda creepy, honestly LOL"Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment
