    Re: MLB 17 Feature Wishes?

I really wish there was an option to re-negotiate contracts mid-season or even just mid-contract during the offseason. Hate guys playing below their potential because they agreed to term when they hadn't reached their potential. Especially when I sign them and they ask for something like 5mil, I give them 7mil to be safe. By spring training they have since come to expect 10million and are unhappy.

Also got bumped because I traded Bautista and Travis for Jace Peterson, Dansby Swanson and Freddie Freeman. Freeman is angry at his contract which luckily goes up next year so hopefully he won't be such a moody bitch. Unfortunately Swanson signed for 4 YEARS AT 60K so I'm probably going to have to trade his *** again at some point as I can't see him being very pleased to make that kind of dough when he explodes into he 80+ OVR range and takes the reigns at SS from Tulo in a season or two.

I would be more than happy to just be able to edit player's salary UPWARDS only in the player edit screen.

I think you can do that already by editing the player. If you mean in order to change the players seasonal stats, then not sure this is useful. If you mean using a csv file to change a players traits then yeah, this would make the job faster and more wholesale. You could even develop a nice little tool around it!

A lot of animations and scripting are just the exact same from the regular season into the playoffs, which doesn't take into account the extra cameras/coverage etc that playoff games receive. I'll take the HR trot animation. At least to my knowledge, its the same basic cut scenes/etc as it is during the regular season. Watch the random video below. Its not terrible or anything, but at the end of the day just feels like a slightly more important regular season HR.

Now, let's go to the tape

        - more excitable commentary (this admittedly is the most difficult part and is likely too difficult to add in)
        - no commentary when the batter is rounding the bases/going into the dugout - just atmosphere
        - camera man trails the hitter to home plate and into the dugout (this to me is the most important one if you want a 'realistic' broadcast experience, since its the same for every single HR, no matter what network its on/what the score is etc)
        - no replays - I've never seen a canned replay after a HR in the playoffs...because there's more focus on showing the dugouts/atmosphere and then going to the next batter. And in MLBTS, the replays generally kill atmosphere because they remove some of the crowd volume and you get more commentary

Its thing like this that IMO will get the game to the next level realism-wise. Right now the playoffs are just the regular season with a different music package, a field graphic, a different scoreboard bug and a slightly louder crowd with some towels. And I mean those are all good things...but its still missing a lot of the intensity.
Absolutely. Even the crowd noise, while louder, doesn't seem to react at the right times in The Show. The crowd roars, the players being pumped up after literally everything they do, the fans going bananas.... More cut scenes, more excitement from the commentators. That's what will put this game over the top. Whether it's for a playoff situation or even for walk offs, or crucial moments in the season. There just needs to be more variation. I hate that once I see the celebration for the wild card game, the World Series is essentially the exact same.

This one may seem really petty for most and is really not that important.

But in spring training I would like the ability to call a game after 9 innings. No need for a tie or anything, give the win to the home team, it doesn't matter. But as someone who plays every game of every season, including spring training, I would like this. I just finished a 23 inning game in my second season of spring training. Now everybody is just beat, injuries are more likely and I used every single pitcher on my team. Heck I now have just about all of my players scouted and line ups figured out. LOL

But honestly after the 9th inning if the game is a tie, how hard would it be to have a pop up say something like " The visiting/home coach has asked to end the game due to not wanting/or having enough players or bench/bullpen to continue the game" It happens all the time in real spring training and I don't see the need for a 23 inning spring training game. Yes I know that I can sim thru this but I like playing and thats not really the issue. I just think it would be a good thing to add.

And even simming would be bad 'cause you can still get an injury. Do they even play extra's IRL ST? I thought they didn't but I may be wrong. I hate the thought of fixing a game, but I'd be tempted to let the other team win in their next AB.

I don't know that it is a written rule. But I've seen many called after 10 innings IRL.

                  NEW BALANCE CLEATS!!!

                  * Go from 90 man rosters to 100
                  * Update the list of injuries and the duration of the injury
                  * Edit coaching staff such as names, numbers etc.
                  * A more realistic draft process (no more intl players in draft)
                  * Add International FA signing period
                  * Override player retirement
                  * Add opt out clauses in FA contracts
                  * Ability to choose your GM goals for the year
                  * Update the terms used to describe what mode your team is currently in. Something like: Buyer, Seller, Rebuilding, Normal/Standing Pat.
                  * Realistic transactions: A team doesn't DFA a player they just signed as a FA out of Spring Training.
                  * Ability to add more secondary positions to an existing player. Jose Ramirez for the Indians is the perfect example this season. He has experience playing in LF, 2B, SS & 3B this season.
                  * I can never not play a 30 team franchise because I absolutely hate that when the roster moves are set to auto and come out of spring training you have relief pitchers in the rotation starting pitchers in the closer's role. If this could be fixed that would be awesome!

I wonder if he's talking about the "Player Opt Out" that's in OOTP17. For example, a player might want something like:

                        Year 1: $10 M
                        Year 2: $10 M
                        Year 3: $10 M
                        Player Opt Out
                        Year 4: $10 M
                        Year 5: $10 M

The player want to be able to get out of the contract two years early at his option.

In-game contracts (daily and/or weekly)that will give you additional stubs e.g., hit a triple in a game or get a certain amount of hits, runs, rbi for a week, etc. Can be done in any game mode. I think that would be good for people that don't necessarily like the rate that stubs are earned.

                            A robust trade deadline feature.

The trade deadline is a major storyline of any MLB season. People start talking about in May and June who could or should be dealt in July. In the offseason, rebuilding teams sign cheap FA veterans to one-year deals with the purpose of flipping them at the deadline for prospects.

In The Show, the deadline is just so flat. Yeah, there's a trading block and a list of teams interested in players on the block, but it never changes.

If I make an offer, the CPU either accepts it or rejects it. I want it to be more dynamic. Let's say the Braves are shopping Teheran. I make an offer. The Braves say they need to think about it. The news feed says another team is actively pursing him and rumored to be offering a package of Prospect A and B for him. Do I up my offer? Do I wait it out?

Outside of the playoffs/pennant races, the next few weeks will be the most exciting of the MLB season. But it typically doesn't feel that way to me in The Show, as much as I love the game.
