    Re: Informal survey

    1) How important are any of these features to you?

    Game watch option for RTTS: This is by far the most important feature. I use a player locked created short stop in Franchise mode in which I have had since MLB 14 and carried over each year.

    The RTTS game watch options were handled perfectly in MLB The Show 14 and MLB The Show 15 most importantly because it provided user’s with a choice. Having options such as all plays allowed the game to play out organically and made playing defense a lot more realistic and less predictable especially when playing a infield position like short stop.

    The RTTS Game watch option was tweaked in MLB The Show 16 to press the “O” button between each at bat or play. If this could be improved or reverted back would be incredibly helpful considering I play all 9 innings, 162 games and often miss pressing the “O” option or press it too fast skipping a important moment replay or commentary.

    Baseball is meant to be a slow paced & strategical game and the RTTS game watch options provided in earlier iterations (MLB14 and MLB15) provided a perfect balance for those who wanted to play RTTS or a player locked character fast paced or watch the entire game.

    Anything to not press "O" each time and every play!

    Way to remove R2 reminder OSD. If yes, by game option? Something else?

    Game options are preferred give the user flexibility.

    AVG/HR/RBI in batter walkup display:

    Yes and always, the ability to see stats when coming up to bat at the plate is always important. The current batter walkup to the plate animations are done very well and adding too it will only make it better. Its also important to see if you use a created player and player lock.

    Player energy OSD more readable. If yes, how should it look?

    The horizontal treatment in previous iterations worked well it gave good separation between each element. Maybe also include it in the player card screen as well. For example when you press “Triangle” on the line up screen before a game might have more real estate there for a larger design.

    2) Do you use and like any of these features?

    Showtime (slow down time): No does not feel realistic. Big plays in baseball should be based on natural user input and reaction for big plays on the field and at bat. I turned this off on player lock in Franchise mode but it still happens.

    MLB The Show 16 does so many things well. I would love to have the option back to watch the game as a player locked/RTTS player as it adds to the immersion of actually been on a MLB team.

    Thanks for posting the survey!

      There's a slider for dynamic difficulty that let's you multiply progression by 0% to 200%. 0% freezes your difficulty. Some restrictions may apply.

        * Allow Dynamic Difficulty to advance multiple difficulties in 1 game. Leave as is.
        * Way to remove R2 reminder OSD. If yes, by game option? Something else? Not important.
        * Pitcher/Batter Analysis on d-pad. Which d-pad direction? Not important.
        * More stats/information on d-pad. Which ones? Not important.
        * Bring back the dotted line display showing your pitch break after a pitch crosses the plate. Not important.
        * Tone down HR Derby power (fun vs. realism) Go for realism.
        * AVG/HR/RBI in batter walkup display. If yes, always? Yes, always. Like it was before.
        * Player energy OSD more readable. If yes, how should it look? Bars, like before. To make it more readable, don't include bars for overall ratings. We already have numbers on screen for those. (Bars for energy, numbers for ratings)
        * Game watch option for RTTS Not important.
        * The ability to manually or automatically set the color of your controller. How? Not important.
        * Sabermetric or any other stats tracked/displayed. A few? A lot? Which ones? Where to display? Caught Stealing numbers and percentages for catchers. (Displayed in individual stat screens)
        * Any other stat or OSD that was removed that you want to see again? (Totals Row for each team in the individual statistics screens. ALSO: replace the team rankings with a sortable team totals screen showing all the statistical categories shown in the individual stats screens.)

        2) Do you use and like any of these features?
        * Dynamic Difficulty No.
        * Showtime (slow down time) No.
        * RTTS Perks No.
        * Pitcher/Batter Analysis menu Rarely.
        * Game Log Sometimes.
        * Strategy Guide Usually look at it once to see if there's anything new. After that, no.

        3) Finally, a very subjective question: Which 2 or 3 pitchers and hitters do you think are the best to use in-game? The worst? Hard to say so I abstain.

        It's not my call, but I guarantee I'll be bringing each point up in wishlist discussions even if nobody else mentions them. Thank you!
        Thanks for gathering input from the community. Hope it helps.

          Re: Informal survey

          1) How important are any of these features to you?

          * Allow Dynamic Difficulty to advance multiple difficulties in 1 game.
          - I do not use Dynamic Difficulty

          * Tone down HR Derby power (fun vs. realism)
          - I don't play very much HR Derby, but the more realistic the game is, the better

          * AVG/HR/RBI in batter walkup display. If yes, always?
          - Yes, always. And OBP should be show always as well. The only way different stats should be shown is if commentary is discussing a certain stat or advanced stat, then it would make sense to put that up

          * Player energy OSD more readable. If yes, how should it look?
          - I find it kinda hard to glance at and immediately tell what the energy is, especially in the bullpen. I like the idea of the graphs, but the old way looked cleaner and was easier to know at a glance what the energy was. Maybe a graph with the numbers on them, able to toggle them on and off with a Trigger pull?

          * Game watch option for RTTS
          - Though I rarely used Game Watch, I think the Play by Play OSD is vital for RTTS and knowing how a game has progressed. The semi-removal and current implementation is the sole reason I have yet to even play more than 2 or 3 RTTS games. And this is from someone who played RTTS exclusively for 4 years, and poured hundreds of hours into it each year.

          * The ability to manually or automatically set the color of your controller. How?
          - Not important at all

          Any other stat or OSD that was removed that you want to see again?
          - Play by Play in its former implementation. Not really a OSD but batters box animations need to be restored for those that use Broadcast.

          2) Do you use and like any of these features?

          * Dynamic Difficulty
          - No, I am not a fan of the idea

          * Showtime (slow down time)
          - No, but we are forced to in certain situations as it stands right now

          * RTTS Perks
          - No, extremely unrealistic in its current form

          * Pitcher/Batter Analysis menu
          - Rarely

          * Game Log
          - Occasionally

          * Strategy Guide
          -

          Occasionally, though it really needs an update. I did not find anything pertain to the Stride, now that it has been re-implemented

            Re: Informal survey

            Hi, thanks for all the responses. I'll check back again tomorrow, but it looks like there's enough data for most of these questions to bring to discussion.

            The two most frequently requested changes were improved player energy display and the AVG/HR/RBI shown in walk-ups. There are a lot of different ideas on stats, match-up, and d-pad information I'll sort through internally. A game option for the R2 reminder should be easy and helpful. The least popular feature was Perks, followed by Showtime. Thanks again, this helps identify how we should allocate time on improvements.

            As for allowing 2 or more promotions for DD and making HR Derby more realistic, I'll gather more information internally but my recommendation is to do them. It will just come down to priorities for time.

            These are my notes for reference (I am not a bot):

            Main Data
            1) How important are any of these features to you?
            * Allow Dynamic Difficulty to advance multiple difficulties in 1 game. [Awesome. Please allow year-to-year. Fine as-is. Not important. Yes. Sounds good. No, leave as-is.]
            * Way to remove R2 reminder OSD. If yes, by game option? Something else? [No. Great, currently off by turning off pitches. Option, currently off by turning off pitches. Nice to have option. Don't mind, but seems like a common request. Doesn't matter, but doesn't hurt. No, prefer it. Prefer game option. Not important.]
            * Pitcher/Batter Analysis on d-pad. Which d-pad direction? [Yes, any button. Yes. Maybe. Yes, up. No, too detailed. Yes, most important, push right. Yes, right. No.]
            * More stats/information on d-pad. Which ones? [No. Yes, ERA/AVG vs LHP/RHP. Maybe OBP, maybe Pitcher vs Batter. Pitch speeds, always using start instead. Yes, push down to see count/ball/strike/k, pitch speeed, P/H season stats, hitting attributes. Yes, vs. pitcher and l/r avg, pitch history of previous ABs. Yes, want pitcher vs. batter attributes in upper right rather than just pitcher vs pitcher. Yes, see 'additional comments'. No.]
            * Bring back the dotted line display showing your pitch break after a pitch crosses the plate. [No. Love. No, all OSDs hidden. Not important. Only as an option. Yes, with option. No. No.]
            * Tone down HR Derby power (fun vs. realism) [Realism. Qualified yes for realism. Don't care. Realism. Don't use. Either way, silly and fun. No, fun. Realism.]
            * AVG/HR/RBI in batter walkup display. If yes, always? [Yes, always. Like, always. Yes. Yes, always. Yes, 1st AB plus AVG for month - other AB use game stats. Interchange with FIP, OPS+, vs. pitcher. Yes, always. Yes, 2-3 times a game. Yes, mimicking real broadcasts. Yes, always. Yes, sometimes. Yes, always. Yes, always.]
            * Player energy OSD more readable. If yes, how should it look? [Very important, thicker bar. Yes, maybe darker green. Bigger and more contrast. Prefer nothing on screen. Ditch colors, use number and pie. Yes, like it but bigger. Yes, try outside of circle and not green. Yes, remove green and fill up. Yes. No, looks fine. Prefer horizontal instead. Prefer bars for energy.]
            * Game watch option for RTTS [No. No. Never used. No. Don't use RTTS. No. Sure. No. Yes, by far the most important. No.]
            * The ability to manually or automatically set the color of your controller. How? [No. No. No. No. No. Let us turn off light bar. No. No. ]
            * Sabermetric or any other stats tracked/displayed. A few? A lot? Which ones? Where to display? [FIP for pitchers, and maybe WAR and wOBA for hitters. Yes, in franchise, a lot to compare players. Whatever real broadcasts use. No, it's fine. Maybe batting avg w/risp. Yes. Yes, defensive runs saved. Yes in the player stat screen. * Strategy Guide [Rarely. Yes. Sometimes. Dynamic tutorials replaces this. No. Don't use. No, prefer better tutorials. No but it needs to be there. Once.]

            Additional Comments (expanding on data)
            * 'I definitely want more stats on screen. I want to see how many strikeouts my opposing pitcher has on me. And I want batters season stats or split stats shown on screen not just how they are hitting on The day'
            * 'I press right on the dpad I think to see contact power and vision. And for a split second it shows speed. Maybe put speed on that information bar outright. I don't know why it only shows for a split second.'
            * 'If you could make the pitch types visible by pressing a button it would be great. (when turning pitches off)'
            * 'I do enjoy seeing the pitch history vs a specific batter. It would be great to have all pitches charted on one chart.'
            * 'Maybe at some point during the game like 8th inning or so, have the PA guy announce the recorded attendance for that game'
            * 'Catchers passed balls would be a nice addition'
            * 'Would like to be able to see game log after I've exited the in-game part, in the franchise menu.'
            * 'Also It'd be great to see power stats such as K/9 for pitchers and HRs hit rate for batters (per 100 AB or something like that.)'
            * 'Make all stats sortable, in all modes, including DD.'
            * 'On d-pad, 'For pitchers I would like see my strikeouts for the game and my average against RHH and LHH. For hitters, I would like to see Pitch thrown %'s, I know I can look it up but it would be nice for in game scouting to know what the guy has thrown most.'
            * Don't make us press O every time to play: 'I use a player locked created short stop in Franchise mode in which I have had since MLB 14 and carried over each year. The RTTS game watch options were handled perfectly in MLB The Show 14 and MLB The Show 15 most importantly because it provided user’s with a choice. * 'Replace the team rankings with a sortable team totals screen showing all the statistical categories shown in the individual stats screens.'

            For Other Areas
            * Want to select pitch with location in MoM
            * Want fox or espn package to be added to the game like NCAA 10, NCAA football 14
            * Bring back (old pitch history)
            * Also one gripe I do have is with the variable attendance. Not every team sells out the seats behind the dugouts/home plate or suite/"diamond level" sections in real life. Maybe spread the crowds out a bit more along the baselines, have upper decks literally empty for teams with awful records. And games where there's rain pouring down, maybe program attendance/crowd AI to compensate for the downpours and move up the sections.
            * whatever happened to the catcher giving multiple or decoy signs behind the plate when there's a runner on 2nd base? I remember seeing that in every stream before release but I haven't seen it once since I got the game.
            * leave the ability to override the CPU when using automatic baserunning, but don't make it happen when I perform pre-pitch actions (queued steals and lead offs)
            * Want to select pitch with location in MoM
            * Want fox or espn package to be added to the game like NCAA 10, NCAA football 14

              1. Dynamic difficulty should be able to go up more then just 1 in a game for sure. Kind of silly that it cant and I think we should also be able to start at any difficulty we want to in Dynamic difficulty. So if we want to start at all star and then have it level up or down from there instead of starting at rookie let us do that. I think we should also be able to select all the difficulties we want. So if we think all star+ is the right level for us to play on let us select that in stead of having to start at rookie and take time to level up to all star+

              Pitcher batter analysis on d-pad just make it like it was years ago.
              We could see more stats on d-pad maybe walks for both hitter and picture on the season. I am not sure on this one.

              HR derby Power I like that you can hit farther HR this year but maybe make it so it is a little harder to hit HR and maybe a few more in the 400-430 range instead of 470-530 feet range.

              Average/ HR/ RBI yes ever time a batter is up. Show what he as down in the game and below that the average/ HR/ RBI numbers I think that is how it was before.

              Player energy more readable just make it how it was before this year. The bars we had in the past was just fine. The pie graphic for player ratings to was a unnecessary change. If it is not brook don't fix it. In the past things were find don't know why the change.

              I am not sure what you mean by the color controller thing.

              Just show more states during a game.

              2. Yes dynamic difficulty is nice but could be better if you do what I say in number 1.

              Pitcher batter analysis I think is very important I use it to change the way I pitch and hit. I tend to look after the 3erd inning to see how I am pitching and if it looks like I am throwing the same pitch type to much or pitching to a location to much I will try to mix things up more so CPU doesn't start to pick up a pattern on me. For batter kind of the same thing. I try to see if I am chasing a pitch type to much or if I am having a hard time with a location and if I need to take more pitches and what not. I am not sure if there is any thing that could make it better or not though.

                I for one would love this, I think it would add a lot to the immersion process.

                And thank you for taking the time to do this.

                  Re: Informal survey

                  * Game watch option for RTTS

                  This is actually pretty important for me. Let me also clarify by saying I've played very little of MLB 16 so far (no RTTS yet). Combo of schedule & waiting on the community's work.

                  That being said. I've played my SP RTTS, in years past, with the "All pitches" option for as long as the option has been available. I would get only one, maybe two, games in per day (thank you for the carry over saves lol) but it was always pretty baller. Watching my team rally & put up some numbers against a good pitcher, then knowing I needed to have a "shut down" inning against the middle of their lineup.. Loved it. Or even watching my team struggle to get anything done, and I knew the pressure was on to not let the opposition score while we tried to figure out how to do...anything, basically..

                  I don't know how SP RTTS players are affected by the new game watch options (or lack thereof?) but the "All pitches" option was an entire experience within the game.

                  I'm probably in the severe minority here, but still. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

                    1) How important are any of these features to you?
                    * Allow Dynamic Difficulty to advance multiple difficulties in 1 game.
                    Personally I would like the ability to pick and go directly to those middle difficulty levels right from the start. In the beginning when Dynamic Difficulty was introduced it was fun going through the steps and even with the slider accelerating it, I just want to get down to business right away.

                    * Way to remove R2 reminder OSD. If yes, by game option? Something else?
                    Game option would be good

                    * Pitcher/Batter Analysis on d-pad. Which d-pad direction?
                    I would like it tied to the left D-Pad where you would have the pitcher and batter attribute analysis there also.

                    * Bring back the dotted line display showing your pitch break after a pitch crosses the plate.
                    I don't even rember this, so I don't know what I am missing

                    * Tone down HR Derby power (fun vs. realism)
                    Don't use it

                    * AVG/HR/RBI in batter walkup display. If yes, always?
                    OBP, Yes always.

                    * Player energy OSD more readable. If yes, how should it look?
                    It needs to be more readable, the overall needs to be separated from it. Personally I would like to see energy go back to bar form and have stoplight colors: green, yellow, red to show a player's condition.

                    2) Do you use and like any of these features?
                    * Dynamic Difficulty
                    stopped using it, answer above

                    * Pitcher/Batter Analysis menu
                    Use it all the time.

                    * Game Log
                    Don't use it.

                    * Strategy Guide
                    Refer to it once in a while.
                    Answers are in bold. Thanks for the survey!

                        I don't know if it would fall under this but I would love to have team records in franchise mode that you are able to break.

                          Re: Informal survey

                          Question 1: The only thing here I care about is the Energy Level OSD. Please make it easier to read. I liked the old line system but a number would work just fine too.

                          Question 2: The only feature here that I use is the game log and I care very much about it. I would be lost some games without my game log.

                          I don't think I've played with enough pitchers and hitters to have a good top three for either, but here goes.

                          Pitchers: RA Dickey, Julio Teheran, Noah Syndergaard

                          Hitters: Jose Bautista, Bryce Harper, Alex Gordon

                          Edit: Haven't really experienced a bad pitcher or hitter so far in 16. I could do a list from 15, but that hardly seems helpful. On a plus side I can hit with Tulo now, and I couldn't before.

                            1) How important are any of these features to you?
                            * Allow Dynamic Difficulty to advance multiple difficulties in 1 game. - I don't use the feature
                            * Way to remove R2 reminder OSD. If yes, by game option? Something else? - Would love the OSD removed but be able to use the feature
                            * Pitcher/Batter Analysis on d-pad. Which d-pad direction? - Yes press right
                            * More stats/information on d-pad. Which ones? - Absolutely -season stats for both batter and hitter/career stats vs pitcher on the mound/stat's for current game pitcher/batter I would also love if you brought back the ability to press the track pad to bring up the hitters spray charts and hot zones in game and not have to pause. I don't know why that was ever removed and the track pad is totally not used makes no sense to me.
                            * Bring back the dotted line display showing your pitch break after a pitch crosses the plate. - I play with a clean screen...would never use it.
                            * Tone down HR Derby power (fun vs. realism) - I love how it is. It supposed to be fun.
                            * AVG/HR/RBI in batter walkup display. If yes, always? - Yes...ALWAYS!!!
                            * Player energy OSD more readable. If yes, how should it look? - I like the new look just need it just a tad thicker without being to intrusive.
                            * Game watch option for RTTS - I don't play RTTS much
                            * The ability to manually or automatically set the color of your controller. How? _ I am missing something here...change the color?
                            * Sabermetric or any other stats tracked/displayed. A few? A lot? Which ones? Where to display? - I am good with the expanded stats added this year
                            * Any other stat or OSD that was removed that you want to see again? - I have yet to see a series recap OSD in Franchise recapping the current series being played like on 14 and 15...I loved that. I would love to see dynamic in season splits more, career against stats (hitter/batter).

                            2) Do you use and like any of these features?
                            * Dynamic Difficulty - No
                            * Showtime (slow down time) - No
                            * RTTS Perks - No
                            * Pitcher/Batter Analysis menu - Yes very handy
                            * Game Log - Yes I enjoy reading play by play recaps, attendance, all that it has
                            * Strategy Guide - Yes very handy

                            3) Finally, a very subjective question: Which 2 or 3 pitchers and hitters do you think are the best to use in-game? The worst?

                            I love hitting with Starling Marte, Bryce Harper and Mike Trout

                            I love pitching with Noah Syndergaard, Madison Bumgarner, Jose Fernanadez

                            Hard for me to pin point the worst. That is too subjective and vast actually. It is much easier to identify who you love.

                              For the d-pad....

                              Definitely season stats-career vs. stats would be great....and if you could...add in the hot/cold zones!

                              Oh...and add the ability to use the d-pad in Manage Mode for anything you use it for!!!

                                * Way to remove R2 reminder OSD. If yes, by game option? Something else?
                                Yes for the option, game option
                                * Pitcher/Batter Analysis on d-pad. Which d-pad direction?
                                Yes, not sure what direction
                                * AVG/HR/RBI in batter walkup display. If yes, always?
                                100% yes, and always. This is ever real baseball game on TV
                                * Player energy OSD more readable. If yes, how should it look?
                                Yes, maybe a bar...or %

                                2) Do you use and like any of these features?
                                * Dynamic Difficulty
                                Yes some. I can always turn it off if I don't want it
                                * Showtime (slow down time)
                                Yes, but it isn't always obvious what I should do (ie: dive or just run/scoop)
                                * RTTS Perks
                                Yes, cool feature
                                * Pitcher/Batter Analysis menu
                                * Game Log
                                100% yes
                                * Strategy Guide
                                I would not use

                                3) Finally, a very subjective question: Which 2 or 3 pitchers and hitters do you think are the best to use in-game? The worst?
                                I have only played RTTS so far, so I can't say.

                                It's not my call, but I guarantee I'll be bringing each point up in wishlist discussions even if nobody else mentions them. Thank you!
