    Re: Informal survey

    * Bring back the dotted line display showing your pitch break after a pitch crosses the plate.

    WHAT is this? I have played this game since 2008 and do not know what this is referring to. PLEASE TELL ME...(if it is what I thought, it is still in the game...I must be confused)

      Re: Informal survey

      1) How important are any of these features to you?

      * Allow Dynamic Difficulty to advance multiple difficulties in 1 game.

      Rather than seeing difficulty level going up and down too quickly (only to pick up random performance spikes) I would rather be able to start with one of the available (preset) difficulty levels, and let the DD mechanism make appropriate adjustment after enough data are accumulated. I tend not to use DD because it takes too much time before it gets to the difficulty that I feel challenged (between HOF and Legend).

      * Way to remove R2 reminder OSD. If yes, by game option? Something else?

      "Optional options" are always nice... but not exactly sure which OSD here.

      * Pitcher/Batter Analysis on d-pad. Which d-pad direction?

      d-pad right brings up pitch breakdown right now, so it might make sense to add there?

      * More stats/information on d-pad. Which ones?

      With d-pad left, being able to see the opposing pitcher's pitch selection with MPH migth make sense. How hard he throws is something I always want to know but currently I have use the pause menu.

      * Bring back the dotted line display showing your pitch break after a pitch crosses the plate.

      The old pitch break presentation was a bit loud and annoying, but being able to optinally (perhaps with R2) bring up the trajectory of a previous pitch (shown with a curve with high transparency) might be cool and good for training eyes...

      * Tone down HR Derby power (fun vs. realism)

      I find realism more fun in general.

      * AVG/HR/RBI in batter walkup display. If yes, always?

      If this is meant as part of presentation package, it's done well enough already. Some concept of sample size might be good, e.g., replace AVG with H/AB when AB is small.

      * Player energy OSD more readable. If yes, how should it look?

      To me, something invisible in real-life like the concept of energy does not have to be shown all the time in a simulation game (especially now that pitch count is easily accessible in score bug). Being accessible within the pause menu would be fine.

      * Game watch option for RTTS

      To me Result Play has always been a great option to feel the context of the sport. Baseball shouldn't just be about you but should also be about how you perform as part of team. Some people are very sad the option is now gone: http://www.operationsports.com/forum...d-removed.html

      * The ability to manually or automatically set the color of your controller. How?

      Not important, as I almost never have a chance to play P2P.

      * Sabermetric or any other stats tracked/displayed. A few? A lot? Which ones? Where to display?

      Although I tend to prefer games where true attributes are somewhat obscured, if attributes are abundantly displayed like they are right now, showing more stats aren't really that much more informative so I feel there is no need to clutter screen more (unless it is for TV-style presentation purposes). I don't know which SABER stats are realistically possible in The Show, so some information as to what's possible might help garner better feedback from SABER folks.

      * Any other stat or OSD that was removed that you want to see again?

      I would like an option to quickly bring up the normal full player info screen (with attributes/stats) without going into pause menu. For example, ont the batting order screen, make player name clickable to bring the player info screen up. During the gameplay, add a way to quickly select one of the players on the field to bring his player info up. Just an idea. In general, quicker way to get to the most informative screen with familiar user interface is much welcome, rather than creating a bunch of different UIs only accessible in certain parts of the game.

      2) Do you use and like any of these features?

      * Dynamic Difficulty

      Not much. I would try if the "break-in" period isn't so long. To help people with "slideritis", it might be nice if DD could also adjust for a little more than OPS.

      * Showtime (slow down time)

      The stretched moment feels refreshing at times for appreciation (but not so much for real-time playing), but I wish there is some more to do with it other than some dramatization effect of slowing down the critical moment.

      * RTTS Perks

      Not my cup of tea... unless perks are for realism which they mostly are not.

      * Pitcher/Batter Analysis menu

      I use and like it for the detailed info. During gameplay, however, I wish there are ways to get more relevant info for head-to-head play quickly, as for online games there is pause time limit and you don't have as much time to spend using filters. It would also be great if there is a way to learn pitch sequence some way or another...

      * Game Log

      I use and like it but wish all plays are completely recorded (some plays do not show up, which might be bugs). More extended box score would be nice as well.

      * Strategy Guide

      Always the first reading and find very informative and interesting (though not much has changed lately). If this were an old-school game this would be packaged and supplied as a booklet.

      3) Finally, a very subjective question: Which 2 or 3 pitchers and hitters do you think are the best to use in-game? The worst?

      Pitchers:

      Best: pitchers with funky delivery with high FB-CH speed differentials (e.g., Pat Neshek, Odrisamer Despaigne, Oliver Perez) are good against human. any high-H/9, high-K/9 pitchers against CPU.

      Worst: any low H/9 pitchers with low BB/9. (they become a little too hittable and awfully ineffective, perhaps unrealistically)

      Hitters:

      Best: any high Contact with at least moderate Power hitters.

      Worst: any high Vision with low Contact & low Power hitters (still tough to make poor hits into safe hits).

        This would be v cool.
        * Way to remove R2 reminder OSD. If yes, by game option? Something else?
        Totally ok as it is.
        * Pitcher/Batter Analysis on d-pad. Which d-pad direction?
        Not that important to me.
        * More stats/information on d-pad. Which ones?
        Not important.
        * Bring back the dotted line display showing your pitch break after a pitch crosses the plate.
        Not important.
        * Tone down HR Derby power (fun vs. realism)
        Don't play it tbh.
        * AVG/HR/RBI in batter walkup display. If yes, always?
        Yes, always.
        * Player energy OSD more readable. If yes, how should it look?
        Not a big deal.
        * Game watch option for RTTS
        I love the flow of RTTS this year so don't mind tbh.
        * The ability to manually or automatically set the color of your controller. How?
        Meh.
        * Sabermetric or any other stats tracked/displayed. A few? A lot? Which ones? Where to display?
        I like them, happy with them on player card but would also be cool on pause menu in-game.
        * Any other stat or OSD that was removed that you want to see again?
        Not that I can think of.

        2) Do you use and like any of these features?
        * Dynamic Difficulty
        One of my absolute favourite features in the game!
        * Showtime (slow down time)
        Getting used to it, it's great for fielding and baserunning.
        * RTTS Perks
        Pretty ambivalent tbh.
        * Pitcher/Batter Analysis menu
        I use it rarely.
        * Game Log
        Almost never.
        * Strategy Guide
        Almost never.

        3) Finally, a very subjective question: Which 2 or 3 pitchers and hitters do you think are the best to use in-game? The worst?
        Love King Felix; not so great with Kluber and Chris Tillman.
        Hitting, I like Kyle Seager and Miggy.

        Thanks for taking the time, love the game.

          Game Watch and Play By Play options are crucial for RTTS mode. Just give us the option to set them before the game, not while playing it. Thanks, Brian.

              My answers in bold

              1) How important are any of these features to you?
              * Allow Dynamic Difficulty to advance multiple difficulties in 1 game.
              Not terribly important, I don't use dynamic difficulty

              * Way to remove R2 reminder OSD. If yes, by game option? Something else?
              Not terribly important. Would be neat, but I'd like resources used in different ways.

              * Pitcher/Batter Analysis on d-pad. Which d-pad direction?
              Not terribly important to me, although it's a feature I'd appreciate. Making it "down" makes the most sense to me.

              * More stats/information on d-pad. Which ones?
              Not important

              * Bring back the dotted line display showing your pitch break after a pitch crosses the plate.
              This would be pretty cool.

              * Tone down HR Derby power (fun vs. realism)
              Think power should be determined by sliders, except online, where it's toned down for realism.

              * AVG/HR/RBI in batter walkup display. If yes, always?
              I like AVG/HR/RBI used for the first walk-up, but different stats, like OBP and SLG used on later ones.

              * Player energy OSD more readable. If yes, how should it look?
              Plenty readable as is, to mee.

              * Game watch option for RTTS
              Neat idea, but one I'd never use.

              * The ability to manually or automatically set the color of your controller. How?
              Not sure this is important.

              * Sabermetric or any other stats tracked/displayed. A few? A lot? Which ones? Where to display?
              Generally, I like WAR, but it's in the game now. I'd like more focus on this.

              * Any other stat or OSD that was removed that you want to see again?
              Nothing comes to mind.

              2) Do you use and like any of these features?
              * Dynamic Difficulty
              No, I do not have any interest in this.

              * Showtime (slow down time)
              It's a neat feature.

              * RTTS Perks
              Never used them.

              * Pitcher/Batter Analysis menu
              barely use.

              * Game Log
              It's useful.

              * Strategy Guide
              Almost never use

              3) Finally, a very subjective question: Which 2 or 3 pitchers and hitters do you think are the best to use in-game? The worst?

              For me, I tend to dominate when I use Syndergaard or Jose Fernandez on the mound, but struggle mightily using Chris Sale and Felix Hernandez.

              Offensively, I love using Carlos Correa and Bryce Harper, but can't do anything with Jose Altuve or Dustin Pedroia.

                Thanks for asking these questions of us! Answers in bold.

                1) How important are any of these features to you?
                * Allow Dynamic Difficulty to advance multiple difficulties in 1 game.
                Unimportant
                * Way to remove R2 reminder OSD. If yes, by game option? Something else?
                Unimportant
                * Pitcher/Batter Analysis on d-pad. Which d-pad direction?
                Doesn't matter which direction, but I think this would be fantastic.
                * More stats/information on d-pad. Which ones?
                Yes! I think either more matchup kind of stats, how does this batter measure up to the pitcher on the mound, or even how does he match up to guys I have waiting in my bullpen. I think something that is missing in some respects from the game is the battle between the specific pitcher and hitter. I think the interface as currently set up is more about the user v cpu or user v user. Obviously that makes sense and there is lots of value to that, but if there is anyway to bring some more intensity to a moment such as your slugger against your opponents shutdown closer, I think will help further tease out a critical piece of the game of baseball.
                * Bring back the dotted line display showing your pitch break after a pitch crosses the plate.
                Not important
                * Tone down HR Derby power (fun vs. realism)
                I think The Show's focus on realism is great, but I have to say there is something fun to spending a little bit of time just crushing the ball.
                * AVG/HR/RBI in batter walkup display. If yes, always?
                I'm a little torn on this because another popular thing to display is a player's slash line. I also think if more becomes available through the d-pad, this display becomes less important to me.
                * Player energy OSD more readable. If yes, how should it look?
                Important, but I don't have bright ideas on how it should look.
                * Game watch option for RTTS
                Unimportant
                * The ability to manually or automatically set the color of your controller. How?
                Unimportant
                * Sabermetric or any other stats tracked/displayed. A few? A lot? Which ones? Where to display?
                I say the more stats the merrier, whether more sabermetric stats or greater tracking like career playoff stats or being able to relocate the stats of players that retired, etc.! Some of the defensive stats would be great or things like OBP+ or ERA+ are ones I like to use frequently. Important.
                * Any other stat or OSD that was removed that you want to see again?
                N/A

                2) Do you use and like any of these features?
                * Dynamic Difficulty
                No
                * Showtime (slow down time)
                No, but I think the attempt to heighten big moments of the game is a step in the right direction.
                * RTTS Perks
                No
                * Pitcher/Batter Analysis menu
                Yes
                * Game Log
                Yes
                * Strategy Guide
                Yes

                3) Finally, a very subjective question: Which 2 or 3 pitchers and hitters do you think are the best to use in-game? The worst?
                I don't know, but I like where this question could be headed.

                    I don't mind the one level at a time. What I would like is a slider for both hitting and pitching. I usually set my pitching level quicker than my hitting and I would love to be able to stop the progression/regression of one or the other and let the other continue to develope

                      * Allow Dynamic Difficulty to advance multiple difficulties in 1 game.
                      maybe... not too bad how it is now if you play a few exhibition games to get your DD level tuned in some before starting a chise, RttS, etc. Edit: like Bullit said right above me, separate hitting/pitching DD sliders would be great!

                      * Tone down HR Derby power (fun vs. realism) make it an option for arcade vs sim HR Derby?
                      * AVG/HR/RBI in batter walkup display. If yes, always? sure, but maybe mix in other things with it like a sub line with other stats or facts? (IE: "1-3, 2b today" or "batting .260 in last 10 games" or "batting .355 vs opponent this year")
                      * Player energy OSD more readable. If yes, how should it look?
                      * Game watch option for RTTS
                      I don't use it now that we can X through to our next appearance directly
                      * The ability to manually or automatically set the color of your controller. How?
                      * Sabermetric or any other stats tracked/displayed. A few? A lot? Which ones? Where to display? AVG w/RISP be displayed (or more obvious somewhere)
                      * Any other stat or OSD that was removed that you want to see again?

                      2) Do you use and like any of these features?
                      * Dynamic Difficulty
                      yes, yes, yes, oh yes! for the love of God, don't even think about removing Dynamic Difficulty
                      * Showtime (slow down time)
                      some so far
                      * RTTS Perks
                      dunno, my RttS guys aren't high enough rated to use any interesting perks yet
                      * Pitcher/Batter Analysis menu
                      would use it more if it had AVG vs L/R for both pitcher's AVG against and Batter's AVG
                      * Game Log
                      Meh
                      * Strategy Guide

                      3) Finally, a very subjective question: Which 2 or 3 pitchers and hitters do you think are the best to use in-game? The worst? Right now, George Springer is my MVP on my DD team in Conquest mode. I also do well with Charlie Blackmon, and Rookie Anthony Rizzo against RHP is a beast. And surprisingly, I'm very successful using Kyle Hendricks so far even though he is only about 80 overall. That's in Conquest.

                      I've started an Angels franchise and am struggling with Trout (hitting about .250 w/4 home runs in early May), but crushing with Kole Calhoun. And Joe Smith is now my closer, his sinker/slider combo is super nasty.

                      It's not my call, but I guarantee I'll be bringing each point up in wishlist discussions even if nobody else mentions them. Thank you!

                        * Pitcher/Batter Analysis on d-pad. Which d-pad direction?Please please please please please bring this back. I would say left on the D-pad. I use this feature religiously during my games and its cumbersome to have to pause the game and scroll to the stats then to Batter Analysis.
                        * More stats/information on d-pad. Which ones?None that I can think of

                          Re: Informal survey

                          I'm new to the series so my thoughts might change a bit on some of these matters over time. I have played most major baseball (and sports) games/series going back to the 8 bit era and tend to be an offline franchise-focused player.

                          1) How important are any of these features to you?
                          * Allow Dynamic Difficulty to advance multiple difficulties in 1 game.
                          I'm currently working my way up the standard difficulties so this isn't applicable to me
                          * Way to remove R2 reminder OSD. If yes, by game option? Something else?
                          Is this about the guess pitch interface? Not sure what the question is in reference to.
                          * Pitcher/Batter Analysis on d-pad. Which d-pad direction?
                          Yes. Doesn't matter which
                          * More stats/information on d-pad. Which ones?
                          Yes. Individual pitcher v batter match-up stats. Pitcher v LH/RH batters, batter vs LHP/RHP. Really any stats or information that can be worked in without taking away from something else (say, by cycling with L1/R1 once having brought up a menu via d-pad) should be considered. Having to pause to access anything applicable is a lot more inconvenient if you're checking on things frequently, given the inherent length of a baseball game.
                          * Bring back the dotted line display showing your pitch break after a pitch crosses the plate.
                          As a newcomer, this is something I noted right away as missing compared to what I'd been accustomed to. I love seeing breaks.
                          * Tone down HR Derby power (fun vs. realism)
                          Haven't played it yet
                          * AVG/HR/RBI in batter walkup display. If yes, always?
                          Yes, but it doesn't have to be always. Keep it varied, increase the pool of possible display combinations.
                          * Player energy OSD more readable. If yes, how should it look?
                          I'm OK with it so far though I have only lightly fooled around with a test franchise while waiting for OSFM. Given the number of complaints from others something should at least be tweaked with it. Changing the colors might do the trick.
                          * Game watch option for RTTS
                          There should definitely be the option to watch everything while skipping through at your pleasure. I've been playing RTTS while waiting to start my franchise and would've liked more control over watching play. Typically I would want to get through the game but the last couple innings of a close game I'd have wanted to watch every pitch.
                          * The ability to manually or automatically set the color of your controller. How?
                          Not something I find myself caring about, but I'd probably change a setting on this if it existed, just for the hell of it.
                          * Sabermetric or any other stats tracked/displayed. A few? A lot? Which ones? Where to display?
                          Even if they aren't that common in MLB broadcasts, I'd like to see them worked in to some degree, because they should be more common. An option would probably be ideal so purists who want the broadcast as realistic as possible can turn it off or tone it down.
                          * Any other stat or OSD that was removed that you want to see again?
                          I can't speak to past iterations

                          2) Do you use and like any of these features?
                          * Dynamic Difficulty
                          No. Perhaps once I start my franchise, if I can't find the right balance as I improve, but I don't imagine I will use it.
                          * Showtime (slow down time)
                          I use and enjoy it as it exists in regular modes as an occasional, optional thing. It's good that it was made an option because I can see why many want nothing to do with it. Playing as a pitcher in RTTS, it got a little tiresome making every throw to first via this interface. On the flipside, there were occasional throws where I enjoyed going through it. I'd also use it for one or two pitches a game, typically in the late innings when my guy was dead tired and needed an out but location had become very difficult.
                          * RTTS Perks
                          I haven't used them yet because I put my points towards attributes, but I would -- will, if I continue in the mode -- use them to some extent. They should exist as a possibility.
                          * Pitcher/Batter Analysis menu
                          Yes, frequently. I'd use it even more frequently if more easily accessible.
                          * Game Log
                          Occasionally. It's great that it exists.
                          * Strategy Guide
                          I've gone through the one in franchise mode just to brush up. It's key for casual fans.

                          3) Finally, a very subjective question: Which 2 or 3 pitchers and hitters do you think are the best to use in-game? The worst?
                          I haven't played with or against any specific players enough to comment

                              * Allow Dynamic Difficulty to advance multiple difficulties in 1 game.
                              I don't use Dynamic Difficulty because it changes the experience too much. I'd rather find a difficulty and settings I like and change it when it becomes too easy.

                              * Way to remove R2 reminder OSD. If yes, by game option? Something else?
                              It doesn't bother me.

                              * Pitcher/Batter Analysis on d-pad. Which d-pad direction?
                              I miss being able to quickly see the pitcher's full stats ... W/L/ERA/ and their pitching line. Pushing left on the D-Pad or tapping the big center pad would be optimal

                              * More stats/information on d-pad. Which ones?
                              See above. All pitcher's current stats and game line. Maybe batter's stats vs. handedness of the pitcher and last 10 games?

                              * Bring back the dotted line display showing your pitch break after a pitch crosses the plate.
                              Not important to me

                              * Tone down HR Derby power (fun vs. realism)
                              I'd love to see the option of 'sim' vs 'arcade' for HR derby

                              * AVG/HR/RBI in batter walkup display. If yes, always?
                              YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES...YES

                              * Player energy OSD more readable. If yes, how should it look?
                              Yes needs to be more readable. Maybe a face a horizontal bar. Seems most intuitive. Or just put an icon next to players who are tiring or tired or playing hurt...kind of like the band aid. Not sure what it would look like though.

                              ?

                              2) Do you use and like any of these features?
                              * Dynamic Difficulty NO
                              * Showtime (slow down time) NO - HATE IT
                              * RTTS Perks YES
                              * Pitcher/Batter Analysis menu NO BECAUSE IT'S NOT USEFUL.
                              * Game Log NEVER USE IT
                              * Strategy Guide NEVER USE IT

                              3) Finally, a very subjective question: Which 2 or 3 pitchers and hitters do you think are the best to use in-game? The worst?

                              I prefer to use pitchers that have realistic animations. Chris Sale, Max Scherzer, Madison Bumgarner. I like to use hitters that have power and can hit for average... Bryce Harper and Mike Trout come to mind. I hit really well with Brett Gardner for some reason

                                1) How important are any of these features to you?
                                * Allow Dynamic Difficulty to advance multiple difficulties in 1 game.
                                Not very important to me, it's easy enough to play some Play Now games and just exit out once I reach a new level and then start a new game.
                                * Way to remove R2 reminder OSD. If yes, by game option? Something else?
                                I tend to play with most OSDs off, so this isn't super important to me. I wouldn't be opposed to a game option to remove it.
                                * Pitcher/Batter Analysis on d-pad. Which d-pad direction?
                                I would say this is fairly important to me. And d-pad direction would be fine, but it would be very nice to pull up that info without pausing and going through the menu each time.
                                * More stats/information on d-pad. Which ones?
                                I wouldn't mind seeing pitcher/hitter matchup stats.
                                * Bring back the dotted line display showing your pitch break after a pitch crosses the plate.
                                I prefer no lines actually.
                                * Tone down HR Derby power (fun vs. realism)
                                No opinion
                                * AVG/HR/RBI in batter walkup display. If yes, always?
                                I would actually like more dynamic and contextual walkup stats. Batter stats vs. pitcher, with RISP, or whatever the context calls for.
                                * Player energy OSD more readable. If yes, how should it look?
                                Somewhat important, either back to old way or adding color in some way to distinguish between various degress of energy.
                                * Game watch option for RTTS
                                No opinion.
                                * The ability to manually or automatically set the color of your controller. How?
                                Not important at all
                                * Sabermetric or any other stats tracked/displayed. A few? A lot? Which ones? Where to display?
                                Quite important, the more the better. Would like to see advanced fielding stats, FIP/FIP-, wOBA, wRC+, etc. I would like to see them in Team Stats page, player profile, league-wide, and occasionally brought up in the in-game presentation.
                                * Any other stat or OSD that was removed that you want to see again?
                                Can't think of any at the moment

                                2) Do you use and like any of these features?
                                * Dynamic Difficulty
                                Yes, I think this has been a great addition.
                                * Showtime (slow down time)
                                Don't use it, don't play RTTS or much player lock, not opposed to it.
                                * RTTS Perks
                                Don't play RTTS
                                * Pitcher/Batter Analysis menu
                                Yes, use it and very glad it exists.
                                * Game Log
                                Use occasionally, think it's good (especially ump and weather info)
                                * Strategy Guide
                                Don't use but think it's a good idea to have.

                                3) Finally, a very subjective question: Which 2 or 3 pitchers and hitters do you think are the best to use in-game? The worst?
                                I'm afraid I haven't played nearly enough yet to have an answer for this one.

                                It's not my call, but I guarantee I'll be bringing each point up in wishlist discussions even if nobody else mentions them. Thank you!
                                Thank you Brian for reaching out for feedback.
