Quick Counts. Am I missing anything?

I searched the forums a bit but couldn't find anything with any real advice.

I use quick counts, and have exclusively since it became a feature in the show a couple seasons ago. I love how many games it allows me to play in any given time period, and I love that it's given me much more realistic walk and obp numbers in my franchises.

However, with that said, I also feel like maybe I'm missing something by having it turned on. Minus the extra 15-30 minutes it's gonna take to complete a game, and getting some one pitch outs, for those of you who do not use quick counts, what would you say to someone if you were trying to get another person to see the advantages of not using it and to switch over?

I strayed away from toggling it off because I kept finding in years past that the first pitch of the at-bat was always something right over the heart of the plate, and obviously I wanted to swing at it cause who wouldn't want to swing at a meat ball on the first pitch and get behind in the count?! I'm 50 games in to my Dodgers franchise sitting at 30-20 with middle of the pack team average, 1st or 2nd in home runs, middle of the pack in walks and obp...basically: the numbers are working out pretty realistically it seems.
But I do find myself with the bases loaded quite often and then suddenly the guy who comes to the plate next has an 0-2 count to start and that gets pretty frustrating, especially if the bases got loaded due to a couple walks.

Any advice, what you use and why you love it, etc, would be much appreciated.
I know the old "use what feels best to you" but I'm not sure what feels best to me anymore and am wondering if there's a better alternative in the community
    Thanks

I have a season mode that is strictly QC and another full-fledged franchise that is no sim no QC allowed. I love the fact that I can get through a season fairly quickly using QC, and as an added bonus, see a lot of walks. But there are other times want to work the count myself, come to the plate swinging at the first pitch I see or take a surprise drag bunt but not be able to because I already have 2 generated strikes. That's what my no QC franchise is for.

Do you play the Franchise and the Season mode with the same team? I like that idea but I would probably have to do it with two different teams because I'd definitely get burned out playing that many with the same guys lol. I basically use the Franchise mode as a one season and done anyhow, should I just use Season mode instead? I like the control of the rosters in Franchise and being able to call up the young prospects I want to see in September though, so that's why I've never used the Season mode.

My franchise is always Atlanta, except this year. I had to take a break, the Braves front office is killing me.

My season team is any team but Atlanta. This year my season team, right now anyways, is Seattle. Next up is a season in Colorado.

Sometimes I like to play one season in franchise as well because I like having a pool of 50-60 players over the pool of 40 in season.

I love quick counts for batting. I so wish they would let you use Quick counts for batting and not for pitching and vice versa.

Wow, I've never even thought of this. That would probably solve the dilemma I am having. I would definitely have it on for hitting and off for pitching. Let me get into my own jams. Not the pre-programmed one.

You just opened up a whole new idea for me to sulk about all season hahah! But seriously awesome idea, hopefully could be implemented next year, or even in a patch this year if possible

That's funny cause I was thinking about doing a Braves or Phillies one simply for how bad they are this year and see if I could make a miracle turnaround for them and shock the baseball world.

Re: Quick Counts. Am I missing anything?

I just started using quick counts this year. I don't like how you can't change a pitcher or batter before the count. But I decided that the speed of the game made that a small price to pay.

What I wish you could do is turn it on/off per batter. I play OOTP some and they have that option. What is nice about that is that if someone is on base, you can turn it off and try to get a steal or hit/count. It if they just walked the bases full you could turn it off and try to ambush the next pitch thinking it will be a get me over FB.

yeah it would make all the difference in the world to me. I'm pretty aggressive at the plate, so I would like quick counts so that the cpu pitcher has to work a little harder. When batting with quick counts in the past it seemed to make me a much better batter. But I just do not like quick counts at all when pitching. I want to pitch the whole at bat so I can use my pitching strategy, not be in a jam like you said, from the start.

So I decided to just play with quick counts off because of the pitching.
