Players seem too big compared to field dimensions?
I'm not sure if it's ever been discussed or tested. But to me, a lot of the problems arise with balls in the gap or bloop hits rarely showing up in the MLB The Show series. It almost seems to me like the players are too big compared to the field. I guess my best way of explaining my question would be: does it seem like if you laid down a player who is 6 feet tall & from home plate to CF is 400 feet, would it take 66.67s of that player laid over and over to touch the CF wall?? It just doesn't seem like it to me. It seems like it would take much less than 66.67 players 6 feet tall to reach that 400 feet in CF. I'm not sure if it can even be tested but it's certainly a concern I've had with this game over the years with players looking really big in the outfield and close together in comparison to a real life blimp view.

Adobe photoshop, paint.net, microsoft paint, or any other paint program. Go into replay mode, take a field screenshot of players and the stadium field distance. Find the players actual height through google or whatever. And start working your magic. Copy and paste, copy and paste, copy and paste the player through out the field to see if you're right or wrong? That's how I would do it since I don't have access to the developers kit. -
Re: Players seem too big compared to field dimensions?
along the same lines, and this has been happening for quite a while now, do players over 6'5 show the same height as a 6' player when on the field.
eg. with the yankees i hit a HR with aaron judge ( hes 6'7) and jogs around the bases when he touches home plate he high gives didi (6') yet they are both almost the same height. its not a big deal to me but it takes away from the realism of the gameComment

Extremely jarring when you have a shorter player grow 8 inches after hitting a homer.Comment

Yes, this has been a problem forever. Seems like they are adjusting player heights to make sure that all the celebrations have as little clipping as possible instead of having some kind of intelligent collision system.

Re: Players seem too big compared to field dimensions?
Unfortunately I do not have the computer skills to probably accurately save the screenshot and test it like that. But I have noticed what others are saying as well with players not the right height next to others. I started playing on the high camera because I wanted to test some diff views out and I love being able to see the beauty in the stadiums when a ball is out in play. Unfortunately, I just don't think everything is correctly scaled down to the exact foot like it should be in order to see all types of hits and diving plays. I never have an opportunity for diving catches. Diving stops, yes. But never do I get the chance to hit R2 and make a diving catch. Something we see 10+ times a night in MLBSneakyPasta92 -- PSNetworkComment

Re: Players seem too big compared to field dimensions?
Broadcast camera makes players look too big (or the field too small) particularly in the outfield. Medium camera scales much more realistically, I just hate how that camera view is perfectly tethered to the ball and flies through the air with it. The press box camera occasionally seen on no-doubt homers would be an excellent view, I don't get why they cant make it an option to use with just a few small tweaks (more zoom, angling for balls in the outfield corner, focusing on the area of the field the ball is going and not tethered to the exact movement of the ball).Comment

Re: Players seem too big compared to field dimensions?
My RTTS player is 6'5" and Altuve comes up to the letters on his uniform. Next time I play against him, I'll see if I can get a screenshot.Comment

Re: Players seem too big compared to field dimensions?
I could not agree with this more. In my slider set I have reaction and fielder speed turned way down. Fielders with marginal speed look like Hamilton in the tiny feeling outfields in this game.Last edited by BucksInSix; 05-08-2016, 12:50 PM.Comment

Re: Players seem too big compared to field dimensions?
I remember watching a 1994 AFC Wild Card Game between the Patriots and Browns at the old Cleveland Municipal Stadium. The field seemed to look a little smaller for some reason. If I was watching a game at Miami or Seattle, it looked normal, but for some reason the players looked a little bigger in Cleveland. Must have been the camera angle.Would the lady who left her nine kids at Wrigley Field please pick them up immediately? They are beating the Cubs 4-0 in the 7th inning!Comment
