I think scouting manually will always give a slight advantage more so because you can pick and choose who you want to scout. Dont know if it is enough to be a clear advantage though, I honestly think it may just break even at the end of the day.
I have had drafts where I walk away with multiple A prospects and some B's. I have had drafts where I just get Low B's and some C's then I have had drafts where I get all D prospects.
I honestly think it just takes a lot of luck to get a good draft. I think if you have a high pick you have a very good chance at getting an impact player especially if you focus on scouting blue chip guys.
Also just a small tip for everyone that if you are in later rounds it may be a little risky to take some of those 80 Potential guys that are unscouted, because why would they still be on the board? But I have found some hidden gems. I ran a test franchise a few days ago and drafted a few high potential unscouted guys and one was a 99 Potential starting pitcher the other was a 88 Potential 1st basemen I believe.
I also passed on a 92 potential starting pitcher in the same draft in late rounds.
Just takes a lot of luck though, soo kind of like real life? :P
EDIT: Also get good scouts its beyond worth it, its honestly a drop in the hat for what they can do for you. I dont know if there are repercussions for firing them after the draft or during the off season but that is a possibility if you want to save budget room.
