Re: Pitcher Stamina in the Playoffs
Yeah, it's just stupid to change how stamina works in the playoffs. It's not like the length of 24 hours is different in October than it is March-September.
I simply can't understand the reasoning behind this and it's infuriating that it wasn't actually fixed when the developers explicitly stated that it was.Comment

This is disappointing. Stamina really shouldn't be different between regular season and the playoffs.MLB: Texas Rangers

Re: Pitcher Stamina in the Playoffs
I agree that there's really no reason (other than stopping cheesers) to make stamina any different in the playoffs, but isn't this pretty easy to fix with sliders? Figure out how much of a stamina hit the pitcher is taking in the playoffs and adjust the SP Stamina slider to compensate? You probably don't have that slider maxed out already so there's likely some room to increase it. Am I missing an obvious reason as to why people aren't just doing that as a work around?Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: Pitcher Stamina in the Playoffs
How much does each click of the Stamina slider refer to? Do we know? Playoff games aren't exactly when I want to be doing trial and error with sliders.
Does it impact recovery? If not, would I need to keep increasing it as the playoffs go on (because the pitcher will continue to get gradually worn down as the playoffs go on)?"Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

By how much, though?

I mean people can complain about it and curse the game or they can try to find a solution, no? If it matters so much to people and they are so mad about it, wouldn't it be worth it to invest a practice game or 2 and find a workaround? You wouldn't even have to test it out in your franchise. Just load something up, sim to the playoffs, jump in and figure it out without there being high stakes of it being your games. It might not actually work as a workaround, but if people aren't even willing to find out, then they lose any and all complaining rights imo.
It's pretty clear that this is the only way the issue will be fixed in a timely manner. According to the devs, they already thought they did fix it. From watching some streams and listening to them lay out their logic for this design, I'm not even sure they understand what the problem is.
There is a CPU SP Stamina slider also, so I'd say it's likely.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: Pitcher Stamina in the Playoffs
You could also go in and edit the stamina attribute for your SP before the playoff game to combat this effect. Not as viable if your guy is already in the high 90s stamina, but that's a second possibility. Could be some combo of slider tweaks and attribute tweaks.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: Pitcher Stamina in the Playoffs
My point, as someone who spends months editing a roster before I even feel I can play the game, is that most problems can be modded around if people are enterprising enough. If people put 10% of the effort that they use for complaining into figuring it out, there would probably be a viable solution by now.
It's just not a problem I've cared about enough to sink my own time into since I haven't been to the playoffs lately (or even started a franchise yet).Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: Pitcher Stamina in the Playoffs
In MLB The Show 15, I found that maxing out the pitcher stamina slider slowed the effects of fatigue in-game. During the regular season, my pitcher stamina slider is on 4 for starters, 0 for relievers. I play strictly cpu-vs-cpu. I watch every playoff game, every pitch. When I started the playoffs, I was using my normal starter stamina. Going into the second start for each starter, they all had not recovered 100% even with an off day for travel. I came up with the idea to max out the slider after watching the cpu remove King Felix from a start after 5 innings with the lead in his second playoff start. The Mariners' bullpen then blew the game. So I decided to increase the starter stamina to 10 for my next game, Cardinals at Dodgers, Wainwright vs Kershaw. Wainwright went 6+, and Kershaw went all the way for a shutout, as he was dominant. The fatigue hit was the same as when the slider was on 4, but with the slider on 10, the in-game effect was slowed down. I also noted that the recovery time between starts did not change. So I saved my sliders as "postseason" so I could go back to the original stamina setting after the playoffs for my subsequent season. So, that's my workaround. Implement the postseason slider (starter stamina on 10) after the first time through the playoff rotation.Comment

Yeah but how would you do this? Like say you have a pitcher with a stamina rating of 99 and you are in the playoffs and he starts a game with his stamina at 80% how many pitches would it take for him to be at zero compared to if he had full stamina going into the game? Or like say a pitcher who has a 99 stamina rating and you put the stamina slider at 10 how many pitches would it take him to be at zero compared to if you had the slider at 10 but he went into the game with only 80% stamina etc?Comment
