    Retirement Glitch in Franchise Mode

I signed an 18 year old CF to a minor league contract (1yr,80k) he was 58 ovr and B potential, yet at the end of the season he retired due to a poor free agent market. I want to sign another player like this but I don't want to waste a roster spot if hes just going to retire next season. Are there any workarounds for this? Someone please help

I've seen this before, too. I think it's somewhat random if they retire or not.

I've noticed this happen with minor leaguers ill pick up out of free agency after the season has already started. I think retirement might be determined at the start of the season for these player and the CPU doesn't factor in that they were signed to a team during the season.

My top prospect retired at age 22 because of a "poor free agent market." He was a 79 overall with A potential. I had planned on him being my starting left fielder the next year.

No worries though, I just edited a guy to be just like him. It's weird but also easily fixed through the power of editing.

Yeah, in my carryover, all those aces that didn't get signed when in MLB15 because everyone was too broke to do it - they all retired for "poor free agent market".

I wish they'd take that out. Just leave age, injury, ability as the retirements. If guys don't sign and they grow old on the FA, age retirement (and ability if they decline while unsigned) will take care of it. Why rush them out?

I think that is exactly what it is. I was watching a video and someone made a comment that this was the case

If I recall correctly, I don't think it's possible to sign minor league players to multi-year deals.

You can sign free agents to multi year deals.

Problem is the guy isn't a free agent. He is years away from being a free agent. "Poor free agent market" isn't a valid reason.

Minor League free agents? I know when resigning my own minor leaguers you cannot offer them multi-year deals.

I'm talking about free agents that you sign during the season, which is what the OP did. You can sign those free agents to multi year deals, which should keep them from retiring due to poor free agent market.

In the past retirements like this happened to players who were still free agents after the draft.
