I play with my fielders speed at 1 I believe and 2 for reaction and unless it's a line drive just high enough to be out of reach i don't really see any bloopers. Even with my slower speeds and reactions I also never see any popups that fall in no man's land.

Re: Bloopers
Re: Bloopers
I've seen them, but not as many as I'd like. Problem is that fielders seem to always read the ball off the bat perfectly. I'd like to see crappy fielders take piss poor routes and on hard swings (Power swings) take a step back before coming in. Only thing you ever see is slow reactions.
That's probably because things like that are tied to fielding ratings. Sliders can "modify" ratings to a degree and event chances, but they can only do so much.
The Fielding Error sliders have a hand in this. They determine the reliability of the fielder ratings as well as mistakes by the players in general (not necessarily actual E's on the scorecard, though those may well increase as mistakes do). To the guy that wanted to see more flubbed routine catches, raise OF Fielding Errors.
In my carryover, some team had to put an AWFUL CF out there. He caught the ball like he was scared of it (a couple times it popped out of his glove as a result!) His routes were godawful and he misread balls (he'd glide like he had time then was like OH **** and tried to get there and then was like OH **** because he was scared of the ball evidently).
Sliders will have a harder time replicating truly piss poor fielding play by players with competent ratings, which will be most guys at the ML level (those that suck that badly tend not to make it - statues might make it for their bats, but guys who played like the CF above...not often).
I use similar for defense and do see them. I also lowered my power slider and raised solid hits so less-than-optimal hits can have less pace on them but still able to get towards the outfield without killing the oomph on squared up shots (solid hits impacts solid contact more than crappy contact).Last edited by KBLover; 07-14-2016, 04:18 PM."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Re: Bloopers
Re: Bloopers
I don't field, you see, but there are the occasional ones. I have my contact slider lowered by 1 on All-star but even before that there were the odd blooped balls that would fall between the infield and outfield.
There do need to be a few more but not too many. I have the fielding running speed lowered by two or three clicks and that helps the ball carry over the fielders' heads more often both on bloopers and well struck balls.

Re: Bloopers
I've seen some, definitely not enough. There's something "off" about hitting this year.
There seems to be very little variety to the type of hits you see, and once again, defenders are OP when it comes to catching the ball.
They arrive too fast, they can snag anything out of the air. Think you got a line drive shot down the 1B or 3B line? Think again, it's getting snatched out of the air in the blink of an eye.
Foul ball that's going to land out of play? Nah, outfielder gonna run over there and catch it because for some reason the ball plays by moon gravity, not earth.
Pitcher hit by the ball? That's cool, he'll rocket to it and throw you out no problem.
Something isn't right with the hitting this year.

Re: Bloopers
As others have already said, I've seen them, but not nearly as often as they should happen. This of course is almost definitely tied to the fact that I have outfielder speed at 3, but reaction at 6. Sliders actually work well this year.Comment

Someone on another thread mentioned he went from low difficulty to AS an above and he noticed a huge difference in hit variety. .I tried it out, he was correct I am approximately 20 games in to my testing and i am seeing way less (forced) infield/foul ball pop ups and dribblers in front of home plate and more hit variety including gappers, bloopers amongst others. I use analog so I would assume directional would yield the same results. Now can the elite hitters make it difficult enough for themselves that low? I doubt it but still some info for people to considerMLB The Show Hybrid Roster ContributorComment
