Re: PS3, PS4 and the restrictions it causes.
I doubt there's much going on with the PS3 version. My guess (just a guess) is that they are developing for the PS4 and if they can stuff it in for the PS3 within the limits of the system/that engine's code, then great. If not, it's a "PS4 only" feature/upgrade.
Again, I don't see how the PS3 prevents that process from happening.
In the PS3 version the only real upgrades I saw were the 2 new modes for DD as well as all the different flashbacks and fisheye cam. That's really all I noticed that was different.

Re: PS3, PS4 and the restrictions it causes.
Who is really buying the show every year for the ps3?I get u want to save money but why not being consequent and keep playing like the show 13 instead buying a new show every year on ps3? I guess if you sold your ps3 and saved the money and the ps3 show 14,15,16 you could already gotten yourself a ps4 lol

Obviously enough people or they wouldn't keep making it. Honestly I still have a PS3 in the second bedroom and once in awhile I fire up 14 and continue my franchise.
Not to mention if I couldn't afford a PS4 why would I sell my PS3 and not play games for 3 years saving money to buy a Ps4. That would be ridiculous. Rather play baseball for 3 years on Ps3.Last edited by Bullit; 10-15-2016, 07:26 PM.In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

Re: PS3, PS4 and the restrictions it causes.
Let's get this out of the way. For whatever reason, the Show devs seem to think their god awful grass coloring and texturing is just fine and totally realistic. Along with horrid player models it just kind of dates the game back into the PS3 era.
Though we have shown them how tepid, lifeless, and dead the grass looks in the game, they still keep the almost PS3 looking grass for every iteration of the game. With player models I kinda understand the animations and other things that come into play. But with horrid looking videogamey grass and coloring? No, I don't understand that at all.
I don't really think that Show is among the bottom tier of sports games for graphics, but their total negation of redoing the grass coloring, even the texturing, and actually making it look like grass is holding back how people view the game. Why? Because when actually go to a game the lighting and coloring LOOK NOTHING LIKE THIS GAME.
Whenever you boot up the Show what is FRONT AND CENTER each and every time? Their horrid grass, decent and improving stadiums, and their horrid player models. That just isn't good for a franchise IMO.
To me player models and grass/field things stick out like a GIGANTIC problem in this game.
I mean I honestly just don't get it anymore. Some of the fields look so blatantly miscolored and dead that you just wonder what the hell these guys are watching that makes them think this is how a ground crew treats the field in real life. Maybe a sports channel with poor coloring, no HDR, no 4K, et cetera? This is why you go these parks in real life and capture the coloring of the field.
They now have access to 4 stadiums or so..... so there is hope. Let's hope they actually improve the field colors and general HDR type coloring of the game. Thing is you don't need HDR to make this game look great.
But there better be some decent enhancements for PS4 Pro.
I'd like to preorder this game. But those fields and player models need to be better or I will just pass on it again. I have limited time to play games and a backlog the size of Texas.Last edited by MythicalGnome; 10-18-2016, 12:45 PM.Comment

Re: PS3, PS4 and the restrictions it causes.
DirectX is an API, not hardware. I understand your comparison but the only real difference between DX11 and 12 is how efficiently the hardware is used. It's just that newer hardware that is DX12 compatible tends to be better than older hardware.
Meanwhile the PS3 and the PS4 have vastly different hardware structures. The PS3 had the highly experimental cell processor, a piece of hardware that was theoretically really cool (seriously google it, it was a pretty ambitious idea) but practically really difficult to program efficiently on.
Meanwhile the PS4 is basically a traditional PC running a proprietary Linux based OS. MUCH easier to utilize system resources in the coding.
While it may be true that the PS3 version isn't holding back new features from being added to the PS4, SDS has limited man hours every year to make improvements and accomplish goals, and I can't help but believe that dumping the PS3 version would help the PS4 version. This is not just a flip you can switch to turn certain features on or off like it is with DX11 and 12.
DX11 games can run on the DX12 API. PS3 games cannot run on PS4.
Not trying to slap you down just trying to clarify. BTW I'm NOT going to clamor for SDS to ditch the PS3 version. As long as they can still make more money making that version then not I support their decision. They are a small, passionate, overworked dev team and they need all the capital they can get.
People sometimes don't realize how ****ty the PS3 really is. The system barely has any RAM people. It has no place in modern development anymore. Not to mention an ancient ape of a graphics card.Comment

Agreed. I would hope that if the PS3 version does RIP that the only meaningful improvement isn't just graphics."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment
