Could be placebo effect but I swear the pro is making the show look better. I've had my 4K tv for a while with my OG PS4 and it never looked this sharp in my opinion.

What is your TV model? I might know what's going on.

In general, if your TV is worse at upscaling than the PS4 Pro, you'd see an improvement.

Up until now you were feeding your TV a 1080p signal and it was upscaling to 4K. Now the PS4 is sending a 4K signal of a 1080p rendering. The PS4 Pro is doing the upscaling.

Try setting your PS4 Pro to 1080p and see if you can detect a difference.

The LG UH7700 is a good all-around 4k UHD TV. Gamers will be pleased with its performance, while fans of movies and sports might find it a little lacking, as its...

Your TV scores a 9/10 on 1080p content and a 10/10 on 4K content according to rtings. If you are able to see the difference between a 9 and a 10, that may explain it.

My TV also scores a 9 and 10, respectively, so I'll try it once it's done installing.

Okay, I checked for image quality and performance differences on a Vizio P-Series, and I came up short.

I noticed no differences in image quality during the initial demo game. And I checked for performance differences and the game still has that signature judder it always had.

That's what I expected but I just wanted to see for myself. No biggie.

I think I'm going to keep the game on the old PS4 on HDMI 5 for input lag (it doesn't do HDR, so you see the issue), and see how MLB 17 looks next year on PS4 Pro. Then I'll make my decision on whether I value visuals or input lag.

I understand that you can hard wire your PS4 Pro controller to the PS4 Pro for better input latency. That might make up for the increase in input lag on my other HDMI ports.

I'm telling you guys that I think I'm going crazy, but it isn't placebo.

The PS4 Pro has smoothed the frame rate issues for cut scenes.

I'm going to hook up my base PS4 again just to be sure, but I swear I'm not seeing things.

Try Coors field and bring a relief pitcher in. Also, try the bullpen screen as both home and away.

This tends to be the toughest area performance wise in the whole game that I know of. Once the game installs fully I'll check it out.

My casual test was only on that initial game at Kaufman Stadium.

                  I'll try this.

I'm actually going to capture native gameplay from both the PS4 Pro and the PS4 and try to write a comparison article. Does anyone else have any "problem" stadiums?

The game plays pretty smooth for me at Miller Park, Kauffman, Marlins Park. I have big issues at Coors. Cutscenes as well as gameplay are very rigid when playing at Coors, especially at night. Anytime the ball leaves the bat and the ball is in play, the framerate looks horrible.

The only thing I've tried on my Pro so far is the intro game at Kauffman and that was smooth, but like I said I've never had an issue at that park anyways. I'm going to test Coors when I get home from work and report back.

                        But will if affect performance?

That's the question I have. I (and now 3 others I have spoken to that I trust) have seen improvements in the framerate issues with The Show. I'm not 100% sure what to attribute it to yet.

I played a couple games last night on my PS pro and the frame rate is exactly the same. Same low FPS cut scenes and frame drops on strike outs and walks.

I don't know about the pro don't have one but I have always found the show to be at 60 FPS ever second I play out side of cutscenes that always drop. But the game play its self no matter if we are talking about pitching, hitting, throwing what is and has been 60 FPS from like mlb 09 threw 16 no matter what stadium I play in. Now cutscenes that is a big different story they drop to like 20 FPS all the time. If the cutscenes where to run like the game play then the game would run perfect.

I tried Coors Field and I still see the same performance.

When the away team brings in a reliever the camera pans across the rocks in center field. On both systems, you'll notice the frame rate struggle while the rocks are in view, but then smooth out as they move out of frame.

It makes sense. When the PS4 Pro runs a PS4 game without a patch, the system goes into a compatibility mode. The extra GPU power is disabled.

Since The Show doesn't have a locked framerate (well, it's probably locked to 60 but it's hard/near impossible to see differences above that anyway), I don't doubt this is a possibility. The original hardware might have been what was holding the framerate back, and nothing else. Or what you might also be seeing is the cutscenes actually running at a solid 30 instead of dropping even lower as they tend to do sometimes (particularly the walkoff pile on home plate scene). I know that NBA2K locks its cutscenes to 30 while the game plays at 60 - might be something like that for The Show, too.

Interested to see what you find out.
