Re: PS4 Pro Native 4K resolution running at 60 FPS with HDR support?
From what I've read, when switching a tv to PC mode it reduces the response time, more so then even game mode.
I've also noticed that I didn't lose any of the picture quality that normally comes with game mode. So that means that you can leave the tv in PC mode and still have movies and everything look good because you can adjust picture settings.
Here's a Reddit thread on it. https://www.reddit.com/r/PS4/comment...ect_for_games/

External HDD support arrives alongside a host of other features, including voice chat for Remote Play.
Note: This will probably not affect '17. If it has its own Pro enhancements, it doesn't need boost mode. 16, on the other hand....
This can provide a noticeable frame rate boost to some games with variable frame rates, and can provide frame rate stability for games that are programmed to run at 30 Hz or 60 Hz. Depending on the game, the increased CPU speed may also result in shorter load times. You can turn on Boost Mode by going to Settings > System.Comment

Re: PS4 Pro Native 4K resolution running at 60 FPS with HDR support?
Just to add, and although this a bit off-topic. This is one of the better examples I've seen for practical examples of PS4 Pro improvement. The framerate talk begins about halfway through the video:
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/lLCZaOJezRc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I've played Hitman now on both the regular PS4 and the Pro, and I definitely agree with this video. It was an eyesore to play this game with unlocked framerate on the regular PS4, but on the Pro it's much more playable in that mode.
I'm not expecting miracles from this. But averaging even 10 more FPS in some of those closed-roof stadiums where the framerate dips would be very significant to me.Last edited by bcruise; 03-08-2017, 12:05 PM.Comment

Sell your Pro dude, it's that simple.
1. Sony has a mandate, that the Pro can't have features that the Original doesn't have.
2. You are only going to get some texture and resolution upgrades on the Pro.
3. It will be the same game on both systems
4. Sell your Pro dude.Comment

I wonder where they draw the line with this.
Are they able to add different/better grass and dirt patterns?
Are they able to add more uniform slots?
Are they able to add more uniform types (i.e. pullovers or sleeveless jerseys for instance)
Are they able to add more SOTS slots?
Are they able to add more player customization options?
Some of that stuff may or may not necessarily be a PS4 limitation, but if Sony mandates that features must be the same for both, where do you draw the line of what a "feature" is?

So it's like PC gaming. A better PC won't afford you a game with more functionality, but it could look nicer and it could run better. If someone thought that they were going to get exclusive games and features from a mid gen hardware update, then I think they need to lower their expectations because that was never stated or implied. If you're okay with potentially having a better looking game and/or a game that runs better, then there's no need to sell your pro.Comment

The dirt and grass patterns must be functionally the same on ps4 pro and ps4, but the grass and dirt can be a higher resolution texture or show more individual blades of grass or push the draw distance further away from the camera. They could even add tesselation to the dirt to more clearly define it.
What couldn't happen is that the ps4 pro gets a higher variety of grass patterns.
With uniform slots, you cannot have a difference between the verity of uniforms available on pro. In other words, you can't have 5 uniforms per team on ps4 and 6 for ps4 pro. But you could show more uniform variety during games, such as the all Star game, because that was a limitation of the ram. That's assuming it's feasible to begin with but I don't know.
I don't think could add more SotS slots because that wouldn't have anything to do with the GPU, ram or CPU.Comment

With a pro you are going to hopefully get graphical enhancements, think better FPS, Actual Anti Aliasing where it is completely absent in the Show, better Anisotropic filtering etc, etc.
Id also like to see better textures on uniforms, grass, stadiums etc but id be really surprised if that was the case.Comment

Re: PS4 Pro Native 4K resolution running at 60 FPS with HDR support?
The best PS4 Pro games are in the mold of Tomb Raider or Horizon.
In the case of Tomb Raider, they offer 3 modes so you can choose whether to favor performance, resolution or graphical effects.
Horizon doesn't offer much in the way of modes (the two modes are almost identical), but it does offer an insanely crisp checkerboard rendering mode. It is one of the cleanest looking games I've ever seen. It rarely, if ever, dips below its target frame rate.
One thing I hope the Pro eliminates in MLB is juddering. This is separate from frame rate. Hard to explain but The Show has a lot of juddering.Comment

If The Show '17 can achieve a decent degree of what the folks working on Gran Turismo Sport (no release date, STILL) have with the HDR, that will give this game a whole new life, graphically along with FR improvements! This vid had me pretty giddy a few months back when it first aired.

There is no difference in FEATURES that a PS4 vs PS4 Pro that's pretty obvious. So if you are buying it for extra features like uniforms, extra slots, etc, then you will be SOL. This difference in frame rate and textures can turn a game from eh to amazing though...it just depends on the game. I tried to play Battlefield the other day on a standard PS4 and basic TV, and its vastly noticeable. If I think MLB is releasing with this (and probably more next year), then its a pretty obvious choice that the PRO is needed. I think the PRO is needed now to really take advantage of my 4K TV. Having a 4K with 1080P max is just wasting time.Last edited by Dillow; 03-08-2017, 06:02 PM.Comment

Horizon Zero Dawn is the new benchmark in which all games moving forward should replicate. I know some engines probably can't achieve the level of pure beauty that this game does....But I can only dream of seeing the Show in 4K resolution with HDR at some point.Florida State Seminoles

Re: PS4 Pro Native 4K resolution running at 60 FPS with HDR support?
I just got my pro today and have the beta update. Wow!! The Show 16 plays like a whole different game! Framerates are improved, contrast is sharper, image is also sharper.
Not only the show, the other two games I've played so far are also greatly improved.
I'm playing on a 1080p plasma with the ps4's boost mode on. The update is out tomorrow.
I'm planning on picking up a 4K tv down the line and can't imagine what the show 17 will look like if they do indeed add ps pro support.ephemeralComment
