Maybe some kind of 2 player cover from this years World Series like Javy Baez/Francisco Lindor. Or they are going to honor Vin Scully.

I love the Scully recs. Such a legend. Even though the thread title says cover athlete, going outside of the strict definition to honor Scully would be great.

For players, I'd really like to see at the very least a Fernandez cover special edition, maybe an alternate cover.

I wonder if they'll go with a predictive Cubs WS championship pick and honor Bryant or Rizzo or Lester. As historic as a Cubs win would be for baseball, I wonder if The Show might want to capture that in some way with the cover selection.

I think this may be the earliest they ever revealed the cover boy before.

I know last year they also released some video footage along with the announcement so hopefully this year will be the same.

Heck a few screen shots would be fine too

Really makes you think they are integrating it with the timing of the World Series, which probably puts a greater impact on the notion that it could be a Cub or an Indian.

I'll stick with Bryant until proven otherwise.

I was halfway joking, but I seem to recall Mike Trout never being given any love in this series when it came to things like his face, stance, etc. I think they tried to approach him for a facial scan/motion-capturing and he declined. I may be way off-base with that though. If somebody could clear this up for me that would be great.

Perhaps that all was just speculation as to why he wasn't provided the same treatment as the other breakout stars.

Yeah I've always wondered about that, it seems like every young star has gotten some love from SCEA in promotional material, but Trout seems to always get left out. It's weird considering he's the best player, so you'd think he'd be a top priority. There's got to be some reasoning behind it.

Think about it:
McCutchen wins MVP - McCutchen gets the MLB 13 cover
Cabrera wins MVP - Cabrera gets the MLB 14 cover
Trout wins MVP - Puig gets the MLB 15 cover?
Donaldson wins MVP - Donaldson gets the MLB 16 cover



EDIT: I will admit they did get his stance down perfectly this year, though.
