Does anyone else think the daytime sky/clouds look different this year?

I know its a very insignificant thing, but it kinda jumped out to me as being different this year.

Other companies could, they choose not to.

Didn't look too different to me, but any improvements are welcome. I'm waiting to see if any changes were made to day/night transitional lighting myself.

Really hoping for some more classic stadiums this year. I would pay $100 to get Tiger Stadium in the game.

I think we all know and recognize the fact that no one puts out another baseball game because it is in fact hard work. You can't hide as much of the stadiums in darkness and what not.

And that means a lot of works needs to be done on stadiums in general. And in 2017 people have very high expectations.

I mean it would be cool if EA had like a 100m to put into a new Triple Play or something, but yeah probably not gonna happen.

As for the Griffey stance I think it looks pretty good but a little rough at the end.

u know u can just mute the game and pop music on right? i just dont get how announcers can make anyone not buy a game that you "play" thats like not playing cuz the crowd isnt cheering for the right team

I understand your point of view and respect your decision to not purchase this game further. But I don't think I could keep playing 15 as my choice though. The fix's to the Pitching alone, not throwing the ball into the stand on every pick off throw, actually being able to pick off a runner at first etc Make 16 a more viable option to me to keep playing for a few years.

Yeah its probably not changed. For some reason it just stuck out to me and looked different.

I wonder if Retro mode will have a scaled down season mode or Franchise mode to it. I could see playing a 16-30 game season in that mode a fun thing to do as a side to actual Franchise games. It would also be a good mode to have the old Sportscast Manager use. Just random thoughts.

While I'm not getting my hopes up for some sort of season mode in Retro Mode, it would be a very pleasant surprise.

My buddies and I have been discussing playing some sort of league using this mode. I foresee good times ahead.

Been away from here for some time for personal reasons and being worn out with the game somewhat.

Was hoping for something a little new, a little different etc this year...very disappointed with this trailer (be it one minute or not, some things never change).

A lot of you know me, i've been on here years, im not a moaner for moaning sake, im not here to bash the devs or anybody personally, but this game is in serious need of a facelift, a revamp, call it what you will, and I dont mean just tacking on an arcadey mode etc, you know what i mean.

Anemic is exactly the type of word i'd use to describe this franchise at the moment.

Anemic, stale, stagnant, faded - call it what you will.

I'm not judging '17 by this one video of course not, im more talking about the general way the series has gone the last few years. I truly believe you could play any of the games from 2013, '14 and '15 and '16 and be hard pressed to convince a naysayer they really were different games. Great games yes, but, like i said, stale, etc.

Ill keep my hopes up for something a little fresher as the information about '17 starts to come out but as i said previously, my enthusiasm for this games release used to be rampant yearly, now its merely more than a passing interest and that's a great shame.

Don't get me wrong, it will still be a superb game with many, many more pro's than con's but it simply cannot shake off this stale feeling, as far as im concerned.

I dont expect a different looking game every year, it would be stupid to do so, it's the same developer after all, but when so many things go largely untouched for year after year such as commentary, franchise, even the same signature music for like, ever, then you start to compare it to the strides made in other areas of sports gaming such as NBA 2K, FIFA, Madden etc then yes, then it starts to make you wonder why you keep coming back and why '16 feels like '15 feels like '14 feels like '13 etc.

I repeat, it will be a great game, but times change and its simply my opinion that SCEA doesnt move fast enough with them.

I used to pre-order this game months in advance, look forward to it like nothing else all year, take a whole week off work just to play it on release week...those days are long gone.

This is without doubt the first year ill almost certainly not be buying and i think its telling the posts mirroring my feelings seem to have garnered as many likes if not more generally than those saying otherwise - i think this worm has finally turned.

Dont ever take your loyal customers for granted in business - and i think SCEA is in danger of doing just that.

                        Shame indeed.

                        I hear you, Psycho.

For me, I feel the batting has taken steps backward since the inclusion of directional hitting. The reward for timing your swing properly just isn't there for me on a consistent basis, and then I have to watch the ÇPU hit opposite-field home runs on balls out of the strike zone or get jammed and still manage to find a hole and reach base. I understand those things happen in baseball, but it just seems so one-sided.

MLB 12 was the last time I thought hitting on the HUM side was done right. You were rewarded for anticipation and proper timing. MLB 14 came close to 12 after the horror that was 13, but then 15 and 16 went right back to being super frustrating.

Combine that with commentary and presentation that are in desperate need of an upgrade, and just like that a game that I played all the time barely gets touched.

MLB The Show is still a great game and I don't want to dissuade people from purchasing, just stating how my own burnout/frustration with the series currently has me feeling.

Man, I don't know how some of you guys can remember what features were added in what year, what minor nuances fluctuated this way or that in 15 vs. 13 vs. 16, etc. They all just blur together for me!

Probably because for some of us it is a sickness. I was just having a conversation about this game with a friend at work. Started crunching some numbers for an average. So with The Show 16 figuring on average of 1.5 hours a game for franchise so far this year I have logged over 970 hours finishing 4 years of my Nationals franshise. That is not including Spring Training and the multitude of Minor League games I have played. Nor does this include my RTTS careers, of which I have 3 and one of those is in his 6th year.

So I guess if your play a game that much it kind of sticks in your head, you know.

Does MLB The Show 2017 have real or fake hitting? Meaning I have total control over where the ball is hit if I swing properly, for example ball down the middle I place the on screen PCI inside of the ball to hit it the opposite way and with no assist.

I saw a guy playing MLB The Show 2016 and it looked like at the last split second the game placed the aimer by itself, can you disable that if it wasn't him doing it?

The game doesn't move the pci. Any late pci movement is a twitch by the user. For your first question, yes zone hitting was greatly changed in 16, you would hit the ball the other way if you were inside of it.
