Hit the X button to skip if you want, or just let it play out.

On the other hand, they have no problem cutting to the manager 20 times a game. I can't imagine people are clamoring for that, but there it is.

They have taken the choice out of our hands which is disappointing, but I know there is no going back...
How are they taking away "choice"? There is still broadcast mode, one can still play every game of the season if they wish. There is also hybrid and fast play modes, plus quick counts (an option) and the new critical moments and managing mode (where you can go in and out as you please, all options).

If they don't go where the gamers are for new sales, SCEA will have to make cuts to the staff, which means cuts to the game. I understand that they have to do this, and I am well pleased that they still provide these options. There is always room for improvement, but to say they are taking away options is a bit short sighted.

I think what he is trying to say is the choice of the "pace of play" has been neutered since MLB 12

On MLB The Show 11 you had batters doing their step into the box routines after virtually every pitch, you had the foul ball cam to see the flight of every foul ball, you even had real time presentation.

Now I have not had a lot of issues with The Shows direction in speeding up the game a little. But I sure do wish I still had the chance to see every ball thrown back to the pitcher and to see every foul ball and "X" out of it if I please.

I liked having that option. Some days I want to sink in and play a full blown game like that and some days I like to motor through it.

However SCEA has telemetry data which obviously and overwhelmingly pointed to the direction the pace of the game has taken.

It's still great, but not what it used to be in terms of batter rituals after every pitch, foul balls and throws back to the pitcher.

It's mildly insulting that two of the major "additions" to Franchise mode were actually in the game last year.. I mean seriously. Player Lock and Quick Manage? We could already do those things in MLB 16! They just took the Sportscast Simulator and changed the name to quick manage..

The only real addition here is Quirks. And different budget screens.

Well the killer is they have alot more of a choice than we do because as it has been so far, we only have 1 choice fast play - faster play or 1 pitch after the other till game is over.

These changes make franchise far more accessible and far less intimidating, encouraging more players to give franchise a try. This means more players getting hooked on franchise and more players caring about it. The devs will see those stats, and devote more time and resources to making franchise better for everyone in future iterations.

So even if you're not a fan of ANY of the changes, you should still appreciate that this is a good change in the long run. After all, most people don't play the Show all year long.
SCEA San Diego if anything, listens to its customer arguably better than anyone. With the amount of people that went ballistic over that franchise stream i'd be shocked if franchise isnt the main focus next year stats or no stats.

The gameplay and graphics are top shelf. And have been for awhile now. There's a ton of modes to satisfy every type of baseball gamer. They work hard on making it better every year and take a lot of feedback from the community. All of the things I wish EA would do. And the Franchise mode has enough in it year to year where I play it for months on end.

However, unless they reveal something really good in the Deep Dive tomorrow then it's pretty obvious there resources were dedicated to DD, ball physics, Pave your Path, and Presentation this cycle. As a Franchise guy, that's not what I was personally hoping for, but to be honest I certainly understand it. They are all things that will make the game presumably better overall for probably a bigger percentage of the people that play it. And obviously better gameplay and presentation makes everyone happier across the board.

I'm on record hoping for more out of Franchise mode for sure in the coming years, and hopefully some better overall logic from CPU controlled teams in this years game. With that being said, I think San Diego Studios do things the right way. And every year they give us an excellent game to enjoy. Even though it's impossible to satisfy everyone's wish list whether they had an 80 or 800 man team.

I just wish they would make a hockey game at some point so I could start enjoying hockey video games once again.
This is pretty much how I feel. Its still gonna be a great game and the shows franchise mode is still better than alot of other games. SCEA San Diego's formula of not straying too far from what works may feel a little safe but the show 17 will be an exceptional baseball exprience regardless.

I would like to add though that i do understand people being upset but i think it comes more from a place of being disappointed than actual anger. I think once the game drops those feelings will quickly be forgotten.
