Slightly disappointed in the news for franchise mode. I was still hoping for more immersion in the game mode I spend 100's of hours in. I love the quirks though, that's a big addition to add more personality into the game.

Who, whether you or I like it or not, make up the overwhelming majority of the player base, and is responsible for the majority of the revenue.

And as a result of this approach, they are now making Franchise more accessible to the majority of their audience.

If it works, and Franchise becomes the major mode, it will then see more requests, and in turn more improvements. There's no electoral element in this process.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is HDR? My guess would be high def resolution but I'm not sure what that means for the game, if it is that.

Whoa now. This will be interesting. My guy is maxed out, so if I notice a bit difference in his yearly stats, I can probably attribute it to the change in physics, etc. that should be interesting.

Man I really feel like people are harping on the major thing or two they want but didn't get and completely dismissing the great things the team actually did do.

If they didn't make such huge strides in other areas that are relevant to every single game mode then yea I am more understanding of complaints.

It's just my opinion that they had a solid mix of improving features that everyone can enjoy.

Please remember that I've been one to hammer home my wants in threads too but some of you come off as complete jerks. Chill with that

Not much new in the stream that hadn't been explained already but at least it was well organized and presented. Big improvement over the previous streams in that department, hopefully the trend continues. I did think that Nick's quiet aside that the people watching the stream weren't likely to care about one of the (many) novice elements they were talking about at the time was... amusing.


I appreciated Ramone's explanation of the team's choice not to include dynamic rotating IL schedules. An explanation for why something as straightforward as your suggestion can't be implemented would also be nice. Unless I'm mistaken, don't they already start repeating schedules after a few years into multi-season modes? Or was it just a freak occurrence for me when I felt like I was repeating my first year's schedule about five years later?


I suppose the post you were responding to could be construed as attacking the developers but that doesn't excuse the fact that yours isn't even close to being a constructive post. It's the equivalent of the political insult 'America: love it or leave it!'

I rather doubt the developers want unsatisfied forum members to just stop buying the game. They wouldn't bother posting on here if they didn't consider member feedback useful. Whether it outweighs the needs of their focus groups is another matter. Hopefully this year's new franchise interface and play options resolve the casuals' issues during this year's focus groups so the team can feel comfortable focusing on more meaningful upgrades in this area for '18.

I just think what is green names try to elude to is this: if you don't like it please respectfully voice your opinions.

People seem to get overly emotional and come off as disrespectful and create a hostile environment.

I enjoy watching the stream and seeing OS mentioned. I enjoy having the SCEA guys here. I am going to give them credit when due and post disappointments when I have them.

But the manner in which some go about it is terrible and I'm not going to let it overrun this place and push away SCEA interaction.

Agree 100% I would be lying if I said I was not disappointed in the overall additions to Franchise Mode. But again perspective is always key and I am eternally the "glass is half full" kinda guy.

I like most the community am really dissapointed. The game other then graphics is the same as last year. Franchise mode basically wasnt touched except for this quick manage thing. Very dissapointing. 12 years of the Show and still with all the inovations in software we can't get a rotating interleague schedule. Ill get the game but to me this is a big let down for franchise players. Its the same game with new menus

Because it's astronomically difficult, again we are a small dev team relative to other sports titles. We have one programmer for Franchise mode 1. And he's amazing but its one body.

The first thing we looked at this cycle back in April of last year for franchise mode was rotating schedules I want this feature, Luis, wants this feature Daniel the programmer wants this feature.

He looked at the code and told us we can't do this in 8 months it's too much code, too risky, and that would be the only thing we got. So we choose to work on Quick manage and critical situations. We love these features, our SVT wants these features and they took all 8 months to implement correctly.

Nothing is as easy as it might seem on the outside.

I find the bolded to be astounding; I'm not sure if this has been the case all along so if so, kudos to this dude.

I love this dev team so it does make me admittedly wonder how much more could be accomplished if the team were bigger. Their ideas are sound and they always have the mindset of the fan when creating new features...think if this team could do Madden with the amount of people on their team!

I doubt Sony will ever make a game for XBox...wonder if they'll ever go down the trail of having a PC port to expand revenue?

I understand the development team. But I miss MLB The Show 12 - franchise mode.

I know where you're going with this and I'd like expanded front office/owner mode tools just as much as anyone, but what struck me most about this is how much better the menus look now. Those MLB 12 menus looked.........not as good.

Let's not forget that all the game play and attribute changes effect franchise. Ball physics, human AI, secondary position attribute hits, graphics, and so many other things. There are things that I too would have liked to see in franchise, but I don't feel disappointed in the least. 17 is a huge upgrade from 16 if you ask me.

It's better every year and worth supporting every year. The ability to keep your franchise going is the greatest "game changer" feature I have ever experienced in a year-to-year game.

I am shocked more developers haven't included it. Also the ability to completely control and edit your experience in franchise was something San Diego figured out long before the rest of the universe.

I would buy this game every single year even if it just had some additional stadiums and some graphical tweaks. But it's always more. Always.

Obviously none of us have the game, but simply watching the videos the new gameplay you can easily see it looks like it is going to a new level of realism in terms of animations, humanity AI for the CPU and killer new life like ball physics.

Again that will be huge. Just huge. I play this game to simulate baseball on the field first and foremost and I for one am really happy the development team continues to push the envelope of their mantra "So Real It Is Unreal"

I too spend hundreds of games and hours in Franchise Mode. Hundreds upon hundreds. Franchise get's incremental new features each and every cycle. It just so happens this cycle we did not get some stuff we all want and talk about. But we got some great new features which can really enhance the overall game. The big picture folks. Franchise mode works well, functions well in comparison to every other sports game on the market and has plenty to do. Perfect? No. Can use improvement? Always. And each cycle it does get attention. But it will never get more than gameplay.

Ramone coming in here to let us know why we have not gotten the inter-league rotating schedule is because the development time for that would take up all of their development time with code writing because you know they only have one guy who works on franchise and yes only one on Diamond Dynasty (so that DD is the priority argument can go fly out the window) and it is a highly complex issue.

I can live without it (rotating inter-league schedules) if it means sacrificing the enhancements we got with Quick Manage Mode, Critical Situations, Player Quirks, Player Morale (last season), enhanced ball physics, humanity AI, 1000's of new player animations, a new MLB Network Broadcast Package, and on and on and on. Don't you think they would have already had rotating inter-league schedules in years ago if their was not such a major programming issue with it? Come on man. That is not even a feature set. It obviously is a programming/code issue. I for one am giving that a permanent rest. Ramone explained it. Case closed for me.

But hey next season.....I can see it now. They get the Inter-League schedule thing working but nothing else added due to the amount of man hours involved.

They (SCEA SD) can't win for losing. Just think about the buggy mess some other sports games are released in.....seriously think about that for a moment?

The Show is the finest tuned game out of the box in sports gaming. Astonishing considering the size of the development team, the sheer amount of modes and codes going on. Simply awesome.

Screw it....these guys need some love. They bring it every year.
