Maybe I'm the only one curious about it, but I have to assume Retro mode will not be available to play in Franchise? Retro will be completely stand alone as a one game at a time mode, no stat tracking or season?

I was actually curious about tinkering with sliders and playing a franchise in retro mode. Am I the only one? I like the batting style camera so long as I could dial in the stats using sliders to be somewhat realistic.

Big time disappoint for me. What's the point if you can't use the mode in a season setting and for that reason why not?

Perhaps I am missing something? 2k used inside edge religiously. See franchise game here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8s_YVQqmW48. And based on that thinking then why isn't IE in play now or season mode? I would love to hear explanation from SCEA.

I don't even know what rotating inter-league schedules mean. Of course Once I start a franchise I may switch teams every 4-5 years in the same franchise so the schedule never gets stale.

Teams never play the same division in interleague play in consecutive years - the matchups rotate every season. They don't do that in the Show, so you always end up playing the same teams in interleague.

I always thought we would be getting inside edge in play now and season modes too. Maybe for 18?

In defense, the owner mode stuff was completely cosmetic before. It had no bearing on attendance or budget, hence why it was removed.

On the other hand I would like to see some of the stuff come back, but I am more interested in expanding on trading, free agency, budgets, player development, and almanac.

This touches on something I wonder about. I don't play DD other than to create-a-team/logos/uniform and then play a game or two just to see what my created uniforms look like on the field.

I play a ton of offline franchise - manage mode.

I wonder if the devs think I play DD or franchise.

But - in this game why would you ever use pitch count to change a guy instead of energy?

But - why not show both? Pitch count is constantly on the screen in every MLB game now, so like i said, it just seems odd.

You can solve your pitch count discrepancy, by loading the game in the 1st inning, now you can go back into the game with no loading and see the pitch count.

I am very excited about 17 but being a 'Chise guy I am left a little disappointed after this week but at the same time happy with the additions. I usually play my franchise with the method of; Play one month, sim one month, repeat. With critical moments and quick manage, I can get to have more control over my team. That is if my star players don't all get injured for the year after two or three games simulated. Kudos to the team for implementing a way for me have more control without actually playing games.

With that being said one piece of franchise that needs to be addressed is progression/regression. I see too many players regress after a bad season, or mediocre season and just fall off the map. Yes, it happens but not to five All Stars every year. In one franchise the Astros traded Jose Altuve to the Dodgers, no big deal, trades happen. However, by 2019 he was a 73 overall and the next year he couldn't get a contract and then retirement by 2021. This scenario has happened with multiple players and it gets frustrating that the stars of the game are forced out before they hit their prime. On the other end of this, we also see good players reach 35 and decide it is time to retire no matter what. Hopefully, regression/progression/retirement has been tweaked. Players do decide to retire early sometimes or hang them up after great seasons but it happens less than rain outs/double headers.

My only other wish for franchise would be in-season contract extensions. I know they've talked about working on it in the past and I don't know the level of difficulty but this is the only thing I can think of that happens semi-regularly that we don't get that actually impacts your team. As much as I would like this it doesn't hurt the game without it. This is something I feel would add to the authenticity.
Regarding regression I was opposed to the change to performance based progression/regression but I don't see them changing it back. I started a franchise in the show 16 using the final live roster update and attributes look similar if not identical to what I've seen in the blogs and streams for '17. I'm 1/3 of the way through the first year and some of the players listed on the top prospects list are not progressing well, in fact a couple are regressing which doesn't bode well for future years in the franchise.

That's silly though. There's plenty of room on the Quick Manage screen for it. Oh well. Maybe next year.
