In one of the narratives there was an option with your advisor to be drafted by your favorite team.Maybe this is the choice you might have to choose to get to play for your team ??

Even though its supposed to be confirmed you cant pick, I believe this will wind up being much ado and while you may not be able to pick from the very start, there will be a way to choose fairly quickly in.

I suggested earlier that a possibility is to go ahead and create your player in 16 then, as soon as you pick your team, save the game and exit. Then carry over the save into 17. Shoot, you could do that with multiple players if you wanted to try different positions. Just keep the saves on the hard drive and port them over if you ever need a new player at a different position.


The downside of this option is that the you would have the '16 ending rosters and not the '17 rosters in RTTS, and you would always be starting in 2016.

The problem with this is they said some of the PYP stuff is dependent on having 2017 draft data, and users importing a save from 2016 will only be getting a subset of the PYP functionality.

Late to the party but If I'm going to be grinding it out in a video game I want it to be favorable, meaning as the user I want to pick which team drafts my player.

In regards to the workaround do you still get the cut scenes if you carry over??

They said in the Twitch stream that you'll be getting some of the basic interactions but most of the more in depth interactions are dependent on having gone through the draft in 2017. Carryover saves don't get the full experience.

I was kind of annoyed they took that option out but it's not a dealbreaker for me. Whenever I picked my team (the Tigers) the CPU just traded my guy his first season anyway.

That's why I have multiple save points and just keep loading until the trade is no longer offered & the trade deadline passes

Yeah you do come off as a jerk at times, but sometimes a player just prefers not to play so far away from his family, so he tells the team please dont draft me. It does happen IRL, so thats why I lean towards the side of those not happy with the option being taken out.
Now if they were to put in something like where you meet with some from teams interested in drafting you, and if its a team you dont like or want to play for then, you could have the option of saying dont draft me. NBA2k has this in their MyPlayer mode, where teams looking at drafting you meet with you and you ask a couple questions, where 1 is what your thought on playing for us, and you have the option of saying you prefer they dont draft you.
IRL do you come off as probably a jerk to that team or that fan base, yeah, more than likely, but personally if it were me, and i didnt want to play for a franchise I could care less what they thought of me.

That hasn't been in the past couple of iterations.

Anyway, in Madden's Superstar mode ~10 years ago, they gave you the option to be drafted by either your favorite team, or a random one that would (theoretically) have a need at your position. I don't know why The Show doesn't have that option (again, I don't know much about the current coding and if doing something along those lines would break it).

I'd love to play for the Twins or Dodgers, but as long as I don't get drafted by the Giants or A's, I can probably deal with it.

I'm also glad they took out the option to pick your team in RTTS because it makes it more realistic, most draftees don't get to hand pick what team they go to.

This isn't real life though and regardless how "real" they make it it's still not realistic on all accounts. It's a game.

I'll repost what I posted earlier in regards to realism.

Well, we are talking RTTS here and not franchise.

- You can buy Training Points
- You are almost always a starter in MLB by the age of 20 or 21
- You can use equipment that can boost your stats, sometimes significantly
- You can equip overpowering perks when your skills raise.

You can add one more to that list

- The mode has the "Showtime" slowdown time mechanic.

All these things are still part of RTTS so removing the ability to choose a team, while more realistic does little to move the mode to a more realistic representation of the journey.

It is also a single player mode that allowed people the choice to enter the draft or choose a team. Everyone could choose the "path" they wanted in regards to their team. It did not affect anybody elses game or limit their choice.

Some people just wanted to be superstar player on their favorite team. They won't want to play 6 years worth of RTTS just in the outside hope that, when they do make it to free agency, their favorite team will offer them a contract.

You mean all those quirks that allow you to mind control the pitcher and force him to throw what you want aren't realistic???

how does taking the option out make it more realistic for someone who wasnt going to pick their team and go the draft route anyway?
it would seem removing the option benefits no one IMO

Forcing "realism" on someone who wants to just enjoy the game with their organization doesn't make much sense. These devs are too in tune with the community to not have some contingency for those fans IMO.

I'm sure this has been mentioned, but what about starting a RTTS on MLB 16, then transferring over to MLB 17 on the team you selected?
