No more picking team in rtts?!?!
I heard from the twitch stream on rtts that you no longer are able to select the team you want to play for. If this is true, even with all the improvements to the mode, might ruin rtts for me.

Re: No more picking team in rtts?!?!
I agree that it was a strange move to take that option out. Although as I have mentioned whenever I picked a team they always wound up trading me anyway and I have no control over that happening.
But people want to play for their favorite team. It takes way too long (years for some of us to get to Free Agency and the hope that we get offered a contract by our favorite team. I have two main RTTS players and they play for the Cubs and the Rangers. Not two teams I would normally choose as a St Louis Fan.
All I can suggest is to create a player(s) in 2016 and choose your team then save the game and import the save in 2017. You can then edit the player to get the improvements in Create a Player and still get the early interactions from Pave Your Path. -

I actually like that they took this option out of RTTS mode this year because it wouldn't make much sense with Pave Your Path.Last edited by extremeskins04; 03-19-2017, 01:50 PM.Comment

Re: No more picking team in rtts?!?!
But honestly why not just create a player, assign him to your favorite team, then do player lock on YOUR player in franchise mode. I mean that's basically the same thing.

Why would it not make much sense? All of the post draft interactions would still be available. The only thing you would be missing are the Bowman Scout Day and Showcase game interactions.
It might not be realistic to pick your favorite team but I doubt that a large majority of RTTS players care that much about realism in that regard. It would be interesting if the devs had numbers on how many people entered the draft vs skipping the draft the last few years.Comment

Re: No more picking team in rtts?!?!
Anybody think that maybe with PYP, which includes hiring an agent, that maybe, you might be able to maybe get yourself traded to a team of your choice or maybe force to get released and maybe sign with any team? Maybe it'll be an option, maybe. Just saying...Comment

Re: No more picking team in rtts?!?!
Seeing in the pave your path video the way Joe Random handled his negotiation with the Angels would lead me to believe there is some wiggle room into having some say in who you want to play for. But I could be wrong.OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Re: No more picking team in rtts?!?!
Personally I have never picked a team in RTTS. I like being drafted and experiencing different teams and stadiums. As a matter of fact it was my first RTTS back in the day that led me to being a Padres fan. Really enjoyed the Minor league system and playing in that park was a lot of fun.
I think I am actually going to do a Padres rebuild this year. I have always wanted to do one and I have never tried in Baseball video games. Every other sport I have played, I have always picked the worst team and tried to build them, but for some reason I have never tried in this game.
Sorry back on topic. I guess I can see why people would want to pick their team, but I also see the realism of entering the draft to be appealing. It is the way I like to play. Choices are always good, but maybe they either felt or it did interfere with the changes they made this year. Hopefully they can add it back next year for those that want it.In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

Re: No more picking team in rtts?!?!
This doesn't bother me. I've been a Giants fan my entire life, but not once have I gone the Pick your Team route in RTTS, just to play for the Giants. I was even drafted by the Dodgers in one of my RTTS games (granted I tried to get them to trade me at every opportunity). I like the idea of not knowing who is going to draft you. That's just my 2 cents though.Comment

Re: No more picking team in rtts?!?!
Sometimes I like to pick my team, Tigers, and turn off auto save so if traded I can rewind the clock so to speak.. It's a little bit of a bummer that they took it out.Favorites:

Re: No more picking team in rtts?!?!
I can understand why people are upset about them taking this feature out. Me personally I've always gone through the draft because it's realistic to me. That and I like not knowing what kind of situation I'm going into. In 16 I got drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks who are my second favorite team after going back to school and performing better in the Showcase. In 15 I got drafted to the Mets. It's fun for me not knowing where I'm going. I'm an Oriole fan first and foremost because that's where I live, but I'll play a Franchise with them for all that.
HOWEVER, if the Yanks or Red Sox draft me, better believe I'm going to try and get out of there [emoji14]

Re: No more picking team in rtts?!?!
Picking which team you go to is not realistic.

You wanted realism?
You got it.
And you're still not happy.
Be careful what you wish for.Comment

Re: No more picking team in rtts?!?!
Well, we are talking RTTS here and not franchise.
- You can buy Training Points
- You are almost always a starter in MLB by the age of 20 or 21
- You can use equipment that can boost your stats, sometimes significantly
- You can equip overpowering perks when your skills raise.
There has been very little focus on RTTS being "realistic". All those items mentioned above will be part of RTTS in 2017 so why are we talking about realism? Shoot, they gave me 11,000 stubs for pre-ordering in addition to 40,000 I already had. Faced with the prospect of losing those points when I move to 17, I buffed my two RTTS players ridiculous amounts.
The only harm I see in keeping the ability to choose your team is you miss out on the "story" of the draft, scout day and the showcase. Once you hit the first day a spring training, then everyone is back on equal footing.
I am saying this as someone without a single RTTS player being on the cardinals right now. Someone who has gone the draft route several times. My main RTTS guys will be carried over so this won't amount to a big deal for me but I just don't see why they would remove the option. It will upset many RTTS playersLast edited by Dolenz; 03-19-2017, 06:01 PM.Comment

Re: No more picking team in rtts?!?!
John Elway basically picked his team back in the day, lol, as he told the Colts dont draft me, they did anyway, and he refused to play for them.
Eli Manning told the Chargers not to draft him, because he didnt want to play for them, they drafted him anyway, then made the trade to the Giants.
In baseball players in the draft at times tell a team not to draft them as well as times. Also if your foreign you can pretty much pick your team, because your not in the draft, which is the stupidest thing Ive ever heard of, that a foreigner can get more money being signed by a team than a citizen of our nation, because our players have to enter the draft.
I dont really play RTTS anymore as I stick with franchise only, but they really shouldnt have taken the option of picking your own team out. I know back in the day if I had decided to enter the MLB draft, I would have told all California teams, and Chicago teams, dont draft me:wink:Everyone who exalts themselves will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted- Luke14-11
