The inter-division tax really only works with valuable assets. You could argue that paying $25 a year and giving a prospect is overpaying

I just dont see the D backs giving Greinke to a division rival like the dodgers unless they are dumping greinke because they are scared if they make any trade at this point they will screw up since the last couple years every move they have made has flopped sense the miller for swanson trade that everyone knew from the git go was a terrible trade and has proven so already. What do you honestly think it would take for the yankees to get greinke? Would the D backs pay 40% of the contract and take a chad green and an Ian Clarkin?

Wouldn't think the Yanks would be that interested. With the Jays, like I said before it totally depends on how he's pitching. As of now, his value is at an all-time low. If he's back to Cy status, his value would be pretty high. Reid-Foley, another top 10 prospect, a top 15-20 prospect probably? You could say they'd have to come in with Vlad, but I'm fairly sure he's as close to untouchable as anyone in the organization. He's only 18 and incredibly raw, but his potential is as high as anyone.

Looking for values on a couple players:

        1) Patrick Corbin (ARZ) as a poorly performing SP
        2) Jake McGee
        3) Kelvin Herrera, underperforming a bit in the closer's role for the Royals

I would think Corbin wouldn't cost much, but I'm unsure on McGee. Herrera would likely be high, obviously.

So leaving the Yankees to pay $20 per season probably means Greinke has a positive surplus of around $5 per season so that's about $30 in surplus. It would probably take Mateo since his prospect shine is down. The more the Yankees pay, the worse the prospect package they have to give. Or you could do something like Fowler plus Tate

Do you know what Chad Greens value is. I know Clarkin was a top prospect but has had a few injury issues. Does he have no value at this point? I ask you because you seem to know what your talking about with a complex deal like this

He's on $35m a year for the next 5 years(when he'll be 37), I think the D'Backs would be delighted to trade him to whoever is willing to take him, rival or not.

So on Fangraphs list he is a 45FV which means he's likely a bullpen piece but could be a 5th starter. That has $13 million in value. So you could use Green plus Fowler

Sweet thanks. We do see eye to eye on this one. Im still trying to figure a way to get Yelich to the yankees though haha. Im just really trying not to rip off the comp as bad this year. The comp was willing to trade me Tanaka and tyler austin straight up for yelich and I know that it wouldnt even be close to fair so that is why this is my first year here. I have an idea what is fair but like other peoples opinion to let me know if i am close enough to a fair deal

I actually like this trade for both sides. Yanks strengthen their rotation while not giving up much and backs get out of greinke deal (still paying most of it though) and get tate. I like tate as a pitcher
Oakland A's - Seattle Mariners - Detroit Tigers
Pittsburgh Steelers - Green Bay Packers
                    Detroit Red Wings

Im sticking with green instead of tate but i think id give up tate if the yankees only had to pay 15 mill a year instead of 20

Tate and Green aren't that far apart. So if you want to use Green in your franchise and he wants to use Tate I think that's reasonable. If you take another $5 million off a year that makes about $60 million in surplus and would require legit prospects like replacing Green with Kaprielian and Fowler with Mateo

I understand. I know in the yankees interworld tate is valued more than green becasue they think he has better upside but he still is unproven where green doesnt have the upside but has proven what he is

I've seen this before, but do they see him as a future reliever? Could impact his perceived value if so.

for the most part they see him as a starter but I could see a Betances career lining up for him where he is seen as a starter for so long but just doesnt work and becomes a stout reliever
