Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Bummed about Rutherford, but next to Mateo, he was the guy I was most ok with trading at the deadline. Wanted to keep Frazier/Torres/Sheffield/Kaprelian. I think it seems pretty fair, but I'm expecting Chicago to pay some money too.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
CWS isn't paying it down. But they are taking back Clippard to help with a bit of salary. I've seen it reported as 4 players from NYY. So its Rutherford + Clarkin + Clippard + ??? for Frazier + Robertson + KahnleComment

That's what I'm seeing too. There goes my plans to use Rutherford to try and get a starter, I'll have to work something around Mateo + Adams + Andujar.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Looking for a little advice on slumping star players, this is my situation...
Xander Bogaerts... He's been batting around .212 all year(now closing out July), doesn't hit for power but gives me solid defense. He will be a FA by season's end...
What do I do with him?
I have no real replacement, not much is changing in terms of production.
Would you trade him?
Resign him and hope for better next year?
IRL, he's one of our staples but he's far from it in my game.
Just looking for some direction on what you guys would do in this predicament.
Thanks.Comment

What kind of package would Zack Greinke command at this point of his career if the D-Backs are non-contenders in franchise mode?Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
In mine, he had average numbers and backs were way out of it. Traded greinke to yanks for ellsbury, tate and mateoOakland A's - Seattle Mariners - Detroit TigersPittsburgh Steelers - Green Bay PackersDetroit Red WingsComment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
In mine he went like 13-9 with 200+ innings and like a 3.05 era so he had a decent season. If i tried to at Andrew Chafin who had a great year for them (Definitely need another lefty in the pen) would Mateo, Andujar and maybe Kaprilian sufice? Or would it be over paying? I tried offering it and the game likes it so i'm curiousComment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
I am not a fan of the return that the ChiSox got back - I know Rutherford is loved by some scouts but I see a taxi squad LF there. I don't see Clarkin getting more than a cup of coffee or two. But, the return has value. I know the most realistic thing to do would be to replicate the trade so here comes my question that I'd like opinion on Yankees fan.
If Hahn would have insisted on Mateo + Tate instead, would that have likely fallen through?Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Okay, CPU trade time. Want to see if I should let this one stand. My standards for letting it stand are as follows: "does this make sense and seem somewhat plausible?" I'm not concerned about moves being made early in the season, IF it makes sense for both organizations. Let me know what you think of this one.
Orioles are four games back in the East after one month. They get SP Patrick Corbin (82 OVR, 2.21 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, 9.34 K/9, one year left of ARB) from ARI. He becomes the ace immediately. ARI left with one solid starting pitcher in Greinke and a bunch of question marks.
Zona, 9-21 and not looking at stellar comeback odds, gets 2B Jonathan Schoop (79 OVR, .303/.354/.526, 5 HR, two years left of ARB) from BAL. Arizona's second baseman before, Brandon Drury, is hitting on the interstate, and this move will almost certainly push him to a backup role. Schoop has an extra year of team control, and they may decide to cash in this summer and flip him for prospects if the season turns ugly. Baltimore's rookie second baseman Sean Coyle (72 OVR, .250 with 3 HR in 32 ABs) becomes the starter.
So two major pieces of overperformance are swapping places here, patching up weaknesses but creating new ones. Is it realistic for Baltimore to give up Schoop to go get an arm? Is the probably-out-of-it Zona willing to sacrifice a big piece of their rotation to get an effective bat that they may be flipping later? This is a tough call for me. I'm not concerned about the timing of the deal. I just want to know if you think this is a deal I can safely let slide from a commissioner's perspective.
