The first one looks solid enough although I'm not quite sure where Joey Bats fits in Detroit with JUp, JD, Miggy, and VMart at LF, RF, DH, and 1B. Bautista for Gomez looks good and I think SFG is the best fit there. The Astros one looks a bit much to me although I may just be higher on Sierra and Gustave than most. I don't think the Morton deal is quite bad enough to incentivize them to move those guys, unlike Sanchez's deal.

They don't have JD Martinez and are only 1.0 out of a wild card spot. Joey would fill in at RF. I'll go for that one then. I'll likely wait to see what happens with Estrada, but if not dealt I will be looking for a deal for him. So my deals before the end of August will be:
Pillar for Gonzalez and Mike Clevinger to Cleveland
Bautista + Howell or Barney for Sanchez, Azocar and Perez.
Then might flip McGuire for Eovaldi and a fringe reliever from Tampa.
* PS: What might I be able to get for Estrada, who is pitching 9-10 with 3.71 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 124K over 150.1IP?*

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Yeehaw! That Andrew Miller trade conversation is why a lot of us are here.
It certainly raises a lot of questions though...I'm
Doing a Padres franchise currently, and need help on the back end.
Looking at Betances. His 2017 numbers (I'm in mid June, 2018) were those of a guy who walks way too many batters. 4.58 era, 1.82 whip. His 2018 numbers are fairly similar and the Yankees are 5 games out behind the second wild card currently. I recognize that I'll have to pay a premium, but do his 2017/18 numbers reflect what I'll have to pay, or are we going on the years before! Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
I am in need of a starter and some bullpen help for my Marlins franchise, i am Currently 45-39 (2nd in the NL East and 2.0 GB in the wildcard race.
My starters are struggling apart from Straily (8-1, 3.34 ERA, 1.28 WHIP) and Chen (7-3, 2.53 ERA, 0.94 ERA) the rest are a combined 10-25 with ERA's from 2.64 (Volquez) to 7.24 (Koehler) i just lost Conley fro 1-2 Months with a fractured Forearm and need some help.
My Bullpen is doing ok with McGowan (6-2, 3.27 ERA, 1.04 WHIP) and Ziegler (4-0, 1.07, 0.98 WHIP) my main guys and Gonzalez and Tazawa both with 3 losses and 3.94 and 2.86 ERA respectively, I lot Brian Ellington for 1-2 Months with Shoulder Separation.
I am just before the all start break (bout to play the Giants) here are the teams that are out of it.
White Sox (21-64) - Nate Jones (3-1, 1.16 ERA, 0.77 WHIP)
A's (33-53) - Jesse Hahn (3-8, 4.96 ERA, 1.59 WHIP) & Liam Hendricks (6-4, 4.42 ERA, 1.31 WHIP)
Rangers (33-52) Cole Hamels (4-6, 3.09 ERA; 1.17 WHIP) or Tyson Ross (5-8, 4.06 ERA, 1.38 WHIP)
Orioles (33-51) - Chris Tillman (2-5, 4.32 ERA, 1.30 WHIP) & Brad Brach (0-2, 3.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP)
Rays (38-48) - Nathan Eovaldi (1-5, 2.43 ERA, 0.87 WHIP) & Tommy Hunter (1-2, 2.52 ERA, 1.23 WHIP)
Phillies (32-54) - Clay Buchholz (5-6, 3.29 ERA, 1.18 WHIP)
Reds (34-51) - Homer Bailey (5-8, 5.99 ERA, 1.58 ERA) & Drew Storen (1-4, 4.09 ERA, 1.30 WHIP)
Padres (35-50) - Travis Wood (5-6, 2.90 ERA, 1.28 WHIP) & Brad Hand (1-4, 3.60 ERA, 1.31 WHIP)
Rockies (39-48) - Pat Neshek (3-0, 3.43 ERA, 0.92 WHIP) or Adam Ottavino (1-0, 2.05 ERA, 1.20 WHIP)
What would it take for me to get some of these guys, im willing to part with most of my farm system except for this years draft picks but the rest are fair game.
Your help is greatly appreciated.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Started a new franchise with post deadline rosters. I am playing as the Jays and am looking towards the 2017-2018 offseason and replacing Bautista in RF. Is there any way to get Stanton from Miami without giving up Vlad JR? I assume Bichette would have to be the starting piece? Thanks!Comment

I don't think it's very realistic unless Vlad Jr. is in the trade. Guys with Stanton's power are few and far between. Would take more than the Chris Sale package IMO

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
So Stanton might be the hardest player in baseball to value here and nearly impossible to make a trade work for a number of reasons. First off, he has a full no trade clause, so he'd have to want to leave Miami for wherever he would be dealt. I know he's expressed his displeasure in being there in the past, but under new ownership he might be more tempted to stay in a place where there's no state income tax. I guess for now we'll assume he'd approve the trade and work from there. His contract itself is a huge hurdle itself and his value depends largely on how the game handles his contract's unique (read:terrible) structure. If it's like real life where the years following '20 are a player option or those years are guaranteed, then he has little to no trade value considering he cleared trade waivers today. This means that no other team in baseball was willing to take the chance that he doesn't opt out after '20 and be stuck with that contract, since the Marlins could have theoretically just dumped him on a claiming team. Given that no team was willing to risk getting stuck with the back half of the contract in real life, it's fair to assume that he has essentially zero trade value on that contract. Note that that doesn't mean that they wouldn't still want actual value for him, much like the Tigers want actual value for JV even if his contract isn't worth it. So in other words, you couldn't just get him for free and would have to take on that contract. However, if the game only has him under contract until '20 and ignores the opt out/opt in situation, then he'd have immense trade value as a star on a friendly long term deal. Before we move forward with this discussion, I think it's important to look at how the game treats his contract.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Fixing to start my franchise with the Hybrids once 2.0 drops, and I'll need to pick up a decent infielder for the bench since I'll have Gregorious starting the season on the DL.
Ideally, would be positionally flexible and run well, possibly platoon with Torreyes if needed. I know Tyler Wade is the obvious choice, but I don't want to start the season with him in the majors.

Telling myself Stanton is okay with heading home to California, the Marlins new ownership want out from under the contract and Stanton is going to be the big centrepiece of the franchise which, with a few additions should contend for at least the wildcard in 2018. I'm looking to gauge what I should be giving away to get him, keeping in mind his contract possibly decreasing his return value.
I'm open to trading just about any prospect in the system except Chapman and would ideally like to keep hold of Barreto (#2/#3 in the games top 50 prospects) and #14 Jorge Mateo. Was thinking maybe Jharel Cotton, who had a red hot first half of the season/was only behind Chris Sale in the Cy Young "predictions" before dropping off, Matt Olsen and one of the young OF's/maybe Brugman. Keep in mind in my make believe world, Miami are eating about 30% of the remainder of his contract given how it's laid out on his player card (his salary is down as 15.6m 2018, 16.4m 2019, 17.2m 2020 and so on rising in similar increments over the lifetime of the deal and it should be higher so that's where Miami come in) so that affects the return value also.
Am I way off/should I give up more? Or maybe even less given in the game he didn't replicate what he's currently doing irl? I'm fairly sure the CPU will take Barreto and spare change for him but I don't know how realistic that is. So looking for suggestionsLast edited by CSL; 08-16-2017, 10:32 PM.Yeah.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
glad to see Stanton mentioned, have been meaning to post in here over the last couple of days. I have around 20 games left of the 2017 season, going to finish just under or over .500 and injuries have kicked in over the last few weeks so I'm going to miss the wildcard. I plan to trade for Stanton in the offseason even though I play as...wait for it...Oakland (maybe Billy Beane is going through a midlife crisis or suffered head trauma and has turned into the opposite of himself) Stanton is batting just over .280 and has 32HR (good enough "only" for 14th league wide) and surprisingly the Marlins still suck.

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Don't agree with your assessment regarding no one claiming him meaning he has no value with his contract. That's not what clearing waivers means, loads of people with value clear waivers just because teams know it's a waste of time claiming them as they'll just get pulled back. Bryce Harper cleared waivers.
Don't know how to link here but he says it in the first paragraph. Obviously his word isn't the end all be all, but just showing that that view is shared by some pretty knowledgeable baseball people.
Again, with regards to a trade, it's important to know how his salary is dealt with. I can't check because I don't have my system with me, so if someone could post a year by year breakdown that would make this much easier. If anyone could that would be greatly appreciated!Comment
