Depends who's in it and who's out of it as well as what you're looking for. If you want to get a good cheap outfielder, you'll have to give significant prospect value. If you wanted to take salary, you could probably take Kemp, Ellsbury, Markakis, Werth etc for a lot less.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Thanks for the answer whbaseball and bluejays for the answers on villar
Another trade I was wondering about is a trade for Sierra from the cardinals. With them having made a prospect for prospect swap already they have proven they arent against prospect swapping. With Oneil now on roster Imo it makes Sierra slightly less valuable to them. I was thinking if I offered them either one higher rated prospect such as bichette it could net me sierra? or if I traded say Reid-Foley and Urena for sierra as they traded an arm in Marco Gonzales to acquire oneil they would get an arm + another piece back.
Thanks in advance all!Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
So after trading the farm to the Rays for Archer and Longoria my Marlins managed to chase down the Nats in the division who pulled off a choke job for the ages and lost the division by 1 game after being up by as many as 12 before the all star break. I'm currently at game 4 of the world series against the Astros up 3-0 but i'm already looking forward to the offseason..
I'm just not feeling Dee Gordon this year so what kind of package do you think i could score for him? (87ovr .265avg 2 hr's 37 rbi's 84 sb's) coming off of missing the last 24 games of the season and the postseason with a fractured hand. And last realistically would the Indians entertain the thought of trading away Andrew Miller (95ovr 3.14era, 24hld's 1.15whip 1 year left on deal) in the offseason? (indians had 88 wins, won the division and got swept ALDS) I'm anticipating my 38 year old Closer Brad Ziegler will retire this year- dudes a ****ing gem man 65 overall and still putting up 9.2 scoreless innings this postseason with a 0.72 whip and 6/6 saves.
Any help is much appreciated!!Last edited by Danpagnepapi; 08-10-2017, 06:19 AM.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
I wouldn't see the Tribe wanting to move Miller, so you'd have to severely overpay to incentive them to part with a key piece of a contender or help upgrade their big league club now. Gordon is a great base runner and defender but a very weak hitter who will be coming off suspension and injury in your game, plus he's on an expensive contract. He doesn't provide much surplus value, so maybe a B-/C+ and C prospect package for him? Like Bourn but worse contract and player so worse package.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
I'm using the Mets and it's the end of May which Ive learned is probably early for trades but I've lost walker and Bruce for 2+ months each and I'm only a game back of Washington and leading the wild card.
Is Rosario enough to get me Wong, Diaz, and Piscotty? I do really well with Wong and Piscotty and when walker and Bruce come back I can use Piscotty at first some and Wong off the bench.

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
I'm current;ly quick managing my way through 2017 and will begin playing games in 2018, but I'm looking to make some moves before the deadline. Similar to real life I'm looking at sending Doolittle/Madson to Washington, though I'm looking for a different package in return, and both pitchers are doing better in my franchise than real life.
Doolittle (82 OVR) is currently 3-1, 2.39 ERA 29 K 6 BB in 37.2 IP and Madson (78 OVR) is 1-1 with a 1.85 ERA and 0.87 WHIP in 39 innings of work.
The Nets currently hold the top Wildcard spot at 53-44.
Could those two land me Blake Treinen and Juan Soto in return??Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Playing as the Braves just before spring training need a guy who can anchor the rotation currently looking at using OSFM opening day
Sonny Gray
Yu Darvish
Felix Hernandez
Was thinking
Maitan
Acuna
Bartolo Colon/Jamie Garcia
As a starting point is this enough? Not enough? Is there anybody else I could target that wouldn't require both Maitan and Acuna.NBA:Philadelphia 76ers
NFL:Philadelphia Eagles
NHL:Philadelphia Flyers
NRL:New Zealand Warriors

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Gonna hit a few of these here -
-A. Miller for Ryu, Barraclough, and prospect Leroy Perez: I actually like this one a lot. I think Cleveland would do this because it keeps their window open longer, doesn't destroy the bullpen, and adds to the rotation. Only thing might be if you have another slightly worse prospect at another position, that might be a better fit with Mejia, Gomes, and Perez in CLE long term. If not though, still a solid deal.
-Rosario for Diaz, Piscotty, and Wong: This one is hard to evaluate from a value standpoint, but in terms of realism I don't think this deal would happen. If you can find another deal where a team traded three decent, young regulars for a prospect I'd like to see that. I can't see STL doing this, especially if they aren't already out of it, because of the risk involved. Great as Rosario is, that's a massive risk for them to blow apart their core for one guy who could bust and leave them out three regulars. Also, can't see St. Louis punting on the season in May, and this deal would kill any realistic hopes of contention. I just don't think this one is realistic.
-Doolittle and Madson to WSH for Treinen and Soto: I don't think Washington would trade Soto for two RP. I know they're pitching even better, but Oakland would have taken Soto if they could have gotten him this summer. I just don't see them giving up Soto for bullpen help unless it's maybe like Britton. You can add a C prospect onto the Neuse/Luzardo package or we can find some other guys, but I think Soto would be off the table.
-Gray/Felix/Darvish for Acuna, Maitan, Colon/Garcia: From a realism perspective, you should probably focus on Gray if you're heading into 2017 because both the M's and Rangers have hopes of contention for this season so they probably wouldn't punt on those before the season by trading their respective aces. I should also note that technically you can't trade Bartolo until June as a recent FA signing. So I'm gonna mostly look at Gray and Garcia. So Acuna and Matian is a good start, but I think you need a little more. They'd probably also want an arm, likely someone close to the majors, so maybe like Lucas Sims? They don't really have any use for Garcia so he actually wouldn't be a positive, he'd just be salary relief and if you're dumping him probably toss in another low level prospect. So I think Gray for Acuna, Maitan, Sims, Garcia, and say Seymour or Sanchez would be fair. If you want to keep Maitan, swap him for Gohara and bump Seymour/Sanchez to Touki/Alex Jackson.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
I've been looking ahead in my Orioles franchise and have been wondering, what would Brad Brach's trade value be? He's been putting up similar numbers to real life (sub-3 ERA, good strikeout rate) and the O's can't seem to get over the .500 mark. I know he's been matched with the Astros recently. Could I get David Paulino (RHP, 23 y/o) for Brach? Paulino has fallen off of a lot of top-100 lists, and the Stros have plenty of other pitching prospects they seem to favor over him. It seems fair to me, but I'd like some other opinions before I pull the trigger.Comment
