Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Sure if you add something really nice to Dickerson. The Twins are on the rebuild so you would have to make up the fact that they lose a long term asset in Kepler for a short term guy in Dickerson. Like adding one of your upper end prospects

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
I was thinking more Brent Honeywell. You have to give the Twins a reason to give up Kepler

We've got 2nd pick in the draft though, so that could play a big part in deciding who I can give up and who I need going forwards.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Interesting. I hadn't planned on disrupting the Snell/De Leon/Honeywell potential future pitching lineup but it's definitely something I'll think about as the season progresses. Definitely need to add a young, potentially powerful bat as that is probably what I lack looking to the future. (Bauers could help there, but a corner outfield bat as well would help)

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Alright, third time is a charm. I'm sticking with this 'Chise.
I'm six games back in the AL West behind the surging Angels (42-27) and 2.5 games behind the Astros (38-30) with a record of 34-31. I'm 2-8 in my last ten games so I don't think my record tells the story of my team's potential here but I'm definitely a little concerned about the trajectory. With that said, I'm currently second behind the Astros for a wild care slot. Shockingly, my weakest bat in the lineup to date (June 15th) is Beltre who is batting a measly .225 with 11 HR and 24 RBI. Compare that to Gallo who I currently have playing LF who is hitting .290 with 18 HR and 50 RBI (5th in MLB). I'm moving Beltre down into the five hole and moving Gallo up into the three hole.
Hamels missed much of the first half of the season with an injury but is back now. I think capitalizing on what seems to be a pretty distraught AL is my best move. AKA "Win Now". Trading for a bat and an arm is still my primary focus. I still like Hosmer from KC as I see First Base being a long term need after this season when Napoli's contract is up. With that said, I could also go outfield and move Gallo to 1B until Beltre retires. Here are a few guys I like, let's see what is possible.
1B - Eric Hosmer (KC) - Agreed that Profar, Guzman and Smoral was a fair return.
Opinion - I like Hosmer for a few reasons. He's got great durability, a solid glove and I think he could become a 20+ HR per year kind of guy in Globe Life Park. With that said, he's on a one year contract and he's likely peaked. So I'm going to have to win out in Free Agency and be comfortable knowing that while he may experience more in the HR department, I'm paying for a slightly better than middle of the road First Baseman.
1B - Joey Votto (CIN) -
Opinion - On one hand, I love Votto. He's a vet with great leadership and a very clutch at bat when the playoffs roll around. He's also under contract for a number of years, so I don't have to worry about a quick bidding war. With that said, he's having a down year. He has a .238 AVG with 14 HR and 42 RBI. His HR and RBI numbers are perfectly fine but his average scares me. Another thing that scares me is that massive contract he'll be receiving up until age 40. I'm already stuck in a big contract with Choo, who I'm finding is impossible to move. Paying 23 million to a 39 year old 1B (likely DH at this point) scares me some. Also, I don't know Cincinnati's asking price.
1B - Paul Goldschmidt (ARI) -
Opinion - This is grasping too far, I'm sure. Goldschmidt would be the perfect fit in my system at age 29, with an additional year on his contract and the ability to flex his power numbers more than he's currently doing at Chase. With that said, Arizona would expect a gold mine return to even consider moving this guy. I love the player, I don't think I have what it takes to get him.
1B - Wil Myers (SD) -
Opinion - Myers is another guy I really like. I love his youth, I love his ability to play the OF and he still has a load of potential. On the down side, he's having a rough year at the plate with a poor .212 AVG. He's on normal pace in the HR department with 10 dongs. With Myers being young, I think he's a piece that SD values greatly as part of their rebuild. So again, I don't think I can afford this piece.
OF - Adam Jones (BAL) -
Opinion - Jones is one of my favorite Outfielders. He's a great athlete with great power and pretty great consistency. He's a star power who could bolster my team into playoff contention without problem. He broke his hand earlier in the season and will be coming off of that injury in two weeks. The Orioles are flailing with a record of 31-33 and fourth place in the East so maybe they consider selling at the deadline. With that said, Baltimore likely asks for more than what I can provide for a great outfielder with another year under his contract.
OF - Corey Dickerson (TAM) -
Opinion - Dickerson is a young guy I really would love to add to my lineup. He's batting exceptionally well with a .293 AVG 17 HR and 41 RBI. With that said, his bat hasn't been enough to pull TB from the depths of AL East. Dickerson still hasn't met full service time, so Tampa Bay expects a lot in return. Do I have it? The Rays are currently 31-37.
CF - Lorenzo Cain (KC) -
Opinion - While he doesn't boast a lot of power, I like Cain for his ability to bat for average and Kansas City's willingness to move him. With that said, I have concerns about durability (currently coming off of a torn hamstring in a week), contract and his falling attributes. I'd have to be satisfied with this deal, despite Cain's talent. The Royals are currently 23-43.
Other Interests - Khris Davis (OAK), Billy Hamilton (CIN), Ryan Braun (MIL), Andrew McCutchen (PIT), Chris Davis (BAL), Jose Abreu (CHI), Justin Bour (MIA)
As far as pitchers are concerned, most of the good pitchers are on teams that are performing this year. I'll just list a few that I'm interested in that aren't on winning teams.
Jose Quintana (CHI)
Masahiro Tanaka (NYY)
Dylan Bundy (BAL)
Gerrit Cole (PIT)
Phil Hughes (MIN)
Danny Duffy (KC)
I just typed a lot, which is probably annoying, so I'll stop there. LolComment

Some compromising photos of Brian Cashman?
Realistically, the Yankees and Braves are a poor match and New York has little incentive to move Judge at the moment unless it's part of a larger deal for a superstar.
If you're just looking for fairness, if it were my franchise I'd feel comfortable with a package of one of Allard/Soroka/Newcomb plus a lower ceiling/safer position player like Dustin Peterson or a fast-moving RP prospect like A.J. Minter. You'll definitely need to "overpay" a bit to pry away a potential 40-HR hitter with beaucoup team control like Judge.
What about Yasiel Puig from the Dodgers?Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Yeah that pick could help you. On his face I think Honeywell/De Leon are probably more valuable than Kepler. But you have to convince a rebuilding team to give to 6 years of a young power bat you desire hence the required overpay

I think that's a little too much personally.

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
OK here we go, still not bitten the bullet as im not definitely going Angels, but if I can get a couple deals done... ill pack my bags and fly to LA!
PIT > LAA
McCutcheon
LAA > PIT
Calhoun, Heaney and Meyer (or Marsh)
I think if the above works, im starting. In game the deal works out fine for both parties. On the face of it, PIT get a decent under control outfielder in Calhoun, leaving them not having to lose McCutcheon at his expiry. Then on top, a MLB ready pitcher in Heaney... then a prospect either pitching or outfield.
Sod it, its a go-er... cant see any downside for PIT.Comment

Yup, Calhoun is more valuable than Cutch
