I'll attempt to make this a bit easier as to not get 4 or 5 deals working at once. Do the Hosmer deal. It's a win-win and I could see him playing in Texas for a long time. If you want Cain (and considering he's not playing very well, and injured), wait until the offseason and buy him. He'll be for sale and that way you don't have to spend your prospect capital. The rest of your targets (minus Dickerson, I'll get to him in my next post) are really expensive (but you already knew that!). If there is one in particular you can't live without, let's take a look.

Hughes and Duffy can be looked at as rotation help if you really need it. I assume Perez is pitching well and Darvish is doing his thing? Would bullpen help be more appropriate?

That's my 2 cents. Remember Gamecockslaw is also going to chime in so hold tight...though I understand, I'm trying to get some games in today between phone calls.

To be honest if you want Votto, Goldschmidt, Myers, Jones, Quintana, Duffy or Cole you would have to start with Mazara and then add from there. You probably don't have the pieces to realistically add anyone from this group.

You could get Dickerson maybe the Rays would take Profar for him.

I agree with the above about Cain since he is hurt.

You could get Tanaka if you want to make a run but remember he will opt out after the season and has a string left connecting his UCL. I think Yoander Mendez straight up would be enough.

Baltimore will have no interest in selling Bundy. And the previous conversation on Phil Hughes should suffice.
Thanks guys. Here are the deals I've drawn up, let me know these look.

    Trade 1:
    TEX Receives:
    1B - Eric Hosmer

    KC Receives:
    LF - Jurickson Profar
    1B - Ronald Guzman
    SP - Matt Smoral

    Trade 2:
    TEX Receives:
    LF - Corey Dickerson

    TB Receives:
    CF - Delino DeShields Jr.
    SP - Joe Palumbo
    2B - Michael DeLeon

Let me know if those deals are acceptable. Losing DeShields would suck as he's one of the few right handed bats in my lineup and my go to pinch runner. Which brings me to my next point, I'm slightly concerned this doesn't leave me with enough Right Handed bats in the lineup. What are your thoughts on handedness balance (right or left)? I'd like someone like Scooter Gennett as my utility guy if I were to make a move. But maybe I just call Alberto up? Edit: I just remembered that Gennett is Left Handed at the plate. My lineup if I add Dickerson and Hosmer:

CF - Carlos Gomez | R (Contract Expiring)
    2B - Rougned Odor | L
    DH - Joey Gallo | L
    3B - Adrian Beltre | R (Retirement Looming)
    1B - Eric Hosmer | L (Contract Expiring)
    LF - Corey Dickerson | L
    C - Jonathan Lucroy - R (Contract Expiring)
    RF - Nomar Mazara | L
    SS - Elvis Andrus - R

    Bench:
    1B - Mike Napoli | R (Contract Expiring)
    C - Robinson Chirinos | R
    RF - Shin-Soo Choo | L

If I were to trade Mercer would I have to trade Cutch to get a good return?

Should I trade Kang and get rid of his "empty" since he won't be playing in the states this year due to his off the field issues

To get anything of value, yes you will have to add to Mercer

If you trade Kang right now his value will be pennies on the dollar

What should I do with John Jaso, Chris Stewart? Would it be better if I trade both of them and then call up Elias Diaz and trade for backup first baseman/utility guy that doesn't cost me $4 million like Jaso is costing me right now

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread

Your 2017 Pittsburgh Pirates have found themselves incapable of pulling away from the .500 mark as we head into July 4th weekend. With Gerrit Cole on the 60 day DL and some very good players on expiring contracts the Pirates face the realization that they have become sellers.

With Andrew McCutchen batting .298, 14 HR, 42 RBI and 16 SB and Tony Watson dominating the 9th with a 0.56 era and 17 saves the phones have been ringing off the hook.

Based on the standings and my desire to not trade them within my own league I have determined that Cutch will be headed to Houston and Watson will be going to Texas.

Houston and Texas are battling it out for the top spot in the American League and are looking for an OF and CP, respectively.

I am looking to work around the framework of

                Houston receives:
                McCutchen
                Bastardo

                Pittsburgh receives
                Devenski/Feliz
                Aori
                Forest Whitley

                Texas receives:
                Watson
                Nicasio

                Pittsburgh receives:
                Jose Trevino
Pre arbitration pitcher that could help my bullpen this season.

Am I in the ballpark of realism?

I don't think Aoki would be a good piece in return for Cutch but other than that looks pretty good

Why no Aoki. I'd need a fill in outfielder and he's a 35 year old expiring contract. He never plays for them.

If your trading Cutch then Meadows would be ready. You should try and get someone to fill a position the Pirates need more of. So your trading Watson grab another reliever to fill he void

Colorado is 10 games under in july and I'm battling for a playoff spot as the jays but am not getting production from LF what would it take to get Charlie Blackmon to the Blue Jays. He's hitting 280 with pretty average stats for him.

It starts with one of Reid-Foley or Alford. It won't cost you Vlad Jr. or anything, but the Jays don't exactly have a strong farm so this move would further deplete it.

Are we talking reid-foley and another B and C or a couple of C's, i understand i might have to hurt the farm a little but its time to make a run for a ring so just wondering the value
