Re: Longest Home Run Distance Contest ('17 style)

Sorry for not updating the past week. It's now updated.

In regular games, I have yet to near reach the feat (ha! no pun intended) that I had in my first game, but I did some testing with wind and such on Beginner level with maxed sliders and such (and just massive CAP's), and routinely hit 500 foot shots. Nothing more than about 540 feet, though. They will not go on the list

I was also testing collision detection in some parks. Sadly, there is no collision detection at Wrigley Field past the stadium itself. Ball goes right through building and roof bleachers.

I also hit a home run at Marlins Park that only counted as a ground rule double, hitting right below the scoreboard. Very strange. I should continue testing in other parks as well.

This is the longest one I have ever hit on this game. Hit at A's stadium - 543 feet

If you're posting from YouTube, click the Share button and there will be an option to copy the video's embed code. Use that and post it directly onto here.

Click "Quote" on somebody else's post with a video to see what the code looks like. You'll find it pretty quickly.

In fact, click "Quote" on my post and copy your video over:

That HR distance isn't realistic for that park (altitude), but at least the metrics for it are. 120mph exit velocity at a 35 degree angle will get you that kinda HR. The problem is there isn't any MLB player that could render those metrics.

I don't know if I'd go as far as to say there isn't an MLB player that could do it....ha. Article below was written last year on Stanton. At that time he had hit 18 that were in excess of 115mph. He's had many that were hit in excess of 120 mph.

Likely not at that launch angle, though.

Scroll down to the bottom to see the 2016 home runs sorted by speed off bat. You'll see the elevation angles:

His 116+ mph laser HRs are low launch angles. Check this out. It's sorted by exit velocity. http://hittrackeronline.com/index.ph...=sob&sort=desc

Give it time to load because it's every HR hit in 2016.

Notice as the exit velocities decrease, the max launch angle increases.

Probably true..... here's some more fun information from 2016. There are some home runs that are pretty close.....115 to 116 mph with 30 degree angle. It's certainly rare.....especially at 500 plus feet.

I love baseball and in the past few years I've grown to love the physics behind it. I find it awesome.

That is.. damn. That probably would've went around 465 ft. at Coors Field. That was crushed and if the launch angle was a couple degrees lower, it probably would've been like 117 mph exit velocity, so you're right, it is close.
