    Re: Too many HR's?

I can't hit at all in '17 yet! I think the pitches move slower, and I was never a good hitter anyway so my timing being off is making me terrible!

In the game where I hit 6, 4 were 450+ ft...other 2 barely got out..

This happens every year it seems. The game changes as SDS improves it and makes changes to it. Last year it took me almost the entire spring training session to find the level of play I wanted. I settled on Legend mode and then softened up the sliders on the CPU side and really enjoyed the game.

I am currently tinkering with the sliders to find that kind of game that I want to play. If your hitting to many bombs drop the power, batting average to high reduce the contact slider. Don't forget you have some pitching sliders that would be helpful with this as well.

Just make sure you check your ego at the door in case your skill level requires you to soften up the CPU sliders so you can stay competitive. It's your world, make it enjoyable.

I'm finding regular X swings carrying a lot further than previous years, pretty sure it's down to the ball spin. If you top it, the ball dips, if you hit it right the ball sails, which is resulting in a lot of very powerfully struck balls. I must have only played about 10 games, yet Jose Reyes has 5 HR's, whereas my actual power hitters have had multiple HR games on a few occasions. Obviously difficulty plays a part, but it shouldn't matter what setting you have it on, Jose Reyes shouldn't be regularly putting the ball out the park with a regular X swing.

              Re: Too many HR's?

The ball comes off the bat very naturally (both speed and spin). But once it passes over the heads on the infielders it's like the rocket boosters are turned on and the ball just keeps flying.

Hard to explain exactly... Seems like they need to add more Gravity to the game!

                Too many HR's?

                All star difficulty:
My first 4 games I hit two home runs combined. 5th game I hit 6. This is in my franchise with the Tribe. The 4th game, I scored 9 runs on nothing but singles, doubles, fielders choice, sac flies, etc. the 5th game was a home run derby though. I also am finding it fairly easy pitching so far. I haven't given up more than 4 runs so far and none of my pitchers have had too much difficulty yet. Obviously 5 games is way too small a sample size to make changes yet. I have had a good mixture on offense so far. Oh, and those that were worried about not seeing any hits through the infield should feel silly. It's the most realistic hitting to date and I've had several infield hits and choppers, etc.

Edit to add: I also haven't seen these monster HRs yet. Even with Encarncion. It was cool I hit one with him right on the screws and it was a screaming line drive over the left center fence but it was close I thought it might hit off the wall. Pretty cool.

I wish I had this problem. I've played 3 games so far with only 1 HR. Only 5 runs combined, mostly playing small ball. My timing is way off. It's like the pitching is slower and I can't adjust. Im constantly out in front of even 98mph fastballs

We're talking about 1.20 HR per game in 2016. And what i see so far it's 4-5 HR's every game. Last game i reduced power by a bar and Pyscotty hit 2 HR's, Gyorko hit 2 HR's ( it was CPU on HOF ), Rizzo 1 HR ( it was me ). Also, if you reduce power, you will screw some stats of the Showtrack.

I wouldn't make any big decisions on sliders or saying "something is broken" based off of a small sample size of games, especially one game where you tee'd off on a guy.

Go 20-25 games, then if you think HRs are happening too often adjust the power slider down a notch or two.
Stan Musial never hit 4 homers in a game, let alone 5. Nobody has ever hit 5 homers in a game.

I'm getting well over 2 homeruns per game on default all star settings. My hits and runs are close to league average, but there is way too much power so far. Had a 52 pwr guy rock a 482ft homer.

Afraid to lower the slider as I don't want to impact other areas of hitting or the ball physics.

Even watching the devs play, they scored so many runs via homers. And opposite field ones, to boot.

                        Re: Too many HR's?

I've only played road to the show so far on 17 and my player just became 99 in every state recently (I'll probably start a new one i just wanna win the world series first...) and I've been hitting a TON of home runs but i wasn't sure if it was the game or just my player being 99 and the difficulty only being on all star. I went through a little slump and then was right back at it so I was holding off judgement to see if it was really normal or not.

because it seems like lately about half my hits have been home runs. and they're no cheap shots either, almost all of them are launched 450+ feet.

and i'll be honest i was at like 36 home runs at the all star break on the show 16 when i carried it over to 17 and i kind of wanted to see if i could break the single season record. I think i have 78 or 79 now with 10 games left

i think it's just too easy to "square up" the ball a lot of times. and it seems like most of the breaking balls i get thrown either get hung and end up right in the middle and i crush them or they're so far out of the zone i didn't even have to think about swinging.

Yes i feel Homeruns are crazy this year also pitch speed seems a little slow too. I'm messing around with sliders on HOF hitting/Analog Stride, after a few games i've lowered power to 3 and contact to 4 and fastball pitch speed to 7 and offspeed pitch speed to 8. Also i hate the Homerun cut scene!!..so many of them, there should be an option to turn it off..i wanna see my fly balls go over the wall.

You see always the cutscene cause nearly every HR is a no-doubt one.

Yeah and alot of opposite Homeruns are getting the cut scenes...i mean opposite Homeruns are hardly no doubters.

All star default settings, Braves vs Mets we hit a combined 9 HRs in the second game of the season.
