After 10 games, I am about 17th in homers but 30th in homers allowed on All Star directional, meter hitting default with the Mariners. I blame the homers allowed more on not hitting the meter right and serving up meat balls rather than physics. I did initially see 2 homers over 500 feet within the first few games, which is an unrealistic frequency.

Re: Too many HR's?
I've hit nine homers in 10 games (three in my last game). I've given up 12. Most of my homers have just gotten over the fence. I've only had a few no-doubters and none have gone absurd distances.
All-Star/Timing hitting and All-Star/Classic pitching. I slow the game down, so I've got pitch speeds, fielder speeds, baserunner speeds and fielder arm strengths at 0, but all other sliders are the default 5.
So far I've played at Citi Field, PNC Park, Marlins Park and SunTrust. I'd have to go back and look at box scores to see the breakdown of homers hit at each park.
And this is from a new season in season mode started on 17, not a carryover.Comment

Re: Too many HR's?
What mode are you using for hitting? Zone, timing or analog swing?

Do you happen to have the wind results from the game log? Do you play PS4 Pro/OG? Boost mode? QC?Comment

Too many HR's?
I think for whatever reason possibly larger pci or sweetspot zone is part of the issue.
I think that may be why I'm not seeing any bombs of outrageous distance. I'm playing analog. That said I'm not giving up any of ridiculous distance either. My home run pace isn't out of whack but they do seem to come in spurts.
I do also have wind turned down to 2.
Which camera angle are you using for fielding?

Re: Too many HR's?
I don't have this issue. I think I'm just terrible at hitting. I have lack of hitting and lack of home runs.

Too many HR's?
Out of curiosity:
What batting level are you on?
What batting interface are you using?
Any slider adjustments?
Are you playing a carryover save?
Please know I'm asking because I'm not seeing it either and I'm curious if there are any similarities between our settings.

Re: Too many HR's?
I've only played a few Franchise games, but near every run has come from a Home Run. Some of them have seemed legit(I have crushed a few that were down the middle with Bautista) but some have been ridiculous(Hit 2 no doubt oppo Homers with Russel Martin that were on the outside edge.that landed in the upper deck.
Nearly every homer hit against me have been pitches on the outer edge that were pulled and crushed which is absolutely broken imo.

Re: Too many HR's?
This is interesting. What if the pitch speed slider isn't only a visual difference? What if it affects the physics engine ball speed too? That would mean setting the pitch speed slider to 0 would help curb those unrealistic HR distances because the hit exit velocities would be lower..

Re: Too many HR's?
I would design those systems to be easily tweaked by changing a few variables, but I don't know how they designed it. Also, I don't know if those variables can be altered at this point since the game has already been compiled..
The reason I'm thinking it's exaggerated hang time from back spin is because I've seen screen shots of people's monster HRs and the hits have high apex heights but drawn out apex curves usually seen in line drives (or any HRs with lower launch angles). Hits with high apex heights have sharper apex curves (they drop more sharply) in correlation with higher launch angles.Do it. (Release The Show for PC)Comment

Re: Too many HR's?
My experience is the ball physics have been a great positive to the game. I've seen games with multiple homeruns and no homeruns. I've seen games with extra base hits and games with none at all. It's varied from game to game for me.
Not that I need to say it again but I'm not doubting that anyone is seeing the issues they are seeing. I'm trying to share my experience and settings to see if there is a "reason" that my experience is different than others. But so far nothing has been found.
I may have asked but I don't remember an answer but is anyone seeing the HR issue on a carryover save?

Re: Too many HR's?
Here's another thing to consider with the ball physics of HRs. I don't know if they programmed this in, but.. did you know a HR from a curve ball will go further than a HR from a fastball even though the exit velocity is lower? It's because a curve ball already has backspin on it coming to the plate, so the swing adds more to it and makes the ball carry more.
Are a lot of HRs (bombs that shouldn't be maybe) coming from curve balls in MLB 17 The Show? If so, that would support my exaggerated backspin theory.
<s>I didn't even get to programming that in my home run derby game because it's so hard to implement without skewing HR trajectories.</s><s>
</s>
I just did, but the factor controlling it is 0.00015 ( x backSpinRPM ). It's arbitrary, but you can see how delicate something like that is and with The Show incorporating player attributes, pitch attributes, etc, etc.. it would get insane real fast. The work the devs do is intricate and complex.
