Changeups in Retro mode are a game killer
Il actually really like a lot about retro mode. It's very fast paced, a lot of hits, and something about that angle really bring out the player models and graphics. But what the hell is the deal with those change ups in the dirt? They are literally unhittable. Yea, they are called balls of you don't swing, but why not just let everything cross the plate? It's impossible to see trajectory from that angle. I thought the whole point was to judge pitches that cross the plate. Anyway, that's just my rant on that particular mode because now it seems like a waste. The game overall is fantastic.. But those change ups just killed that mode for me. If they keep the mode next year, hopefully thy can clean that up.Tags: None -
Re: Changeups in Retro mode are a game killer
Sorry guys I'm just gonna bump this one time because I'm really falling in love with this mode. The computer never throws change ups in the dirt so it's perfect user vs cpu. It would be absolutely perfect if they can just tweak the change ups going all the way across he plate. The changeups should throw hitters off balance. They would work well in this mode of done right.
This might be the only year we get this mode so if they can try to do something about the unhittable change ups it would be so awesolme. And I just love that hitting camera. You see the player model details from head to toe.. And they just look perfect from hat angle. -

Not really. I know for a fact that the original KGJrP:MLB wasn't like that. You could move the ball around a lot more in those games though, making off-speed pitches a little more obvious. In Retro Mode it's just a slower pitch due to the real life ball physics, so they had to do something to mess with the timing."Baseball is the coolest sport because, at any moment, the catcher can stop the game and go tell the pitcher a secret" - Rob FeeComment

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

Retro mode isn't modeled after KennGriffey Baseball it's modeled after RBI and Bases Loaded. Pitching worked the same way in those.

Re: Changeups in Retro mode are a game killer
It's a baseball game and it's a huge exploit regarding pitching/hitting, It's not a random occurrence that can happen once a game. Literally every pitch. And it's a mode within the actual game. I'm not hating on the actual game. I'm happy to even get to experience retro mode, but I think it's a pretty fair critique. I'm loving the Show btw, and I'm not calling out developers on anything. Just an honest opinion, and something that should maybe be considered moving forward.Comment

If the mode were multiplayer online, it would probably be an issue. But it's not - it's a fun little time-waster throwback the devs put together in a day.Comment

That is how the classic games were with that pitch. It was always a great strike out pitch. I remember doing it all the time in baseball stars on NESComment
