Bunting in 17 is ATROCIOUS
Look, I understand that bunting was too easy and cheesy in 16. But bunting line drives with Brett Gardner constantly is beyond ridiculous. And lots of non bunting players aren't even able to make sacrifice bunts. They've gone way too extreme and I'm sick of the fan boys not picking up on this stuff.Tags: None -

Online bunting is much different than offline bunting. Which one are you talking about

Franchise mode... Every time I bunt even if its a pitch down the middle its a lightning bolt to the corner infielders or the pitcher...Comment

Yeah bunting needs to be tweaked. I understand they were trying to nerf bunt cheese during online play, but it has gone too far the other way.
It's far too easy to turn a double play on a sacrifice bunt.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Agreed...I have turned three double plays from sac bunts. Luckily I play in the AL so won't see this issue a ton

True...not very often should the lead runner be thrown out. Don't worry, surely they can and will patch this

I'm going to try something the next time I'm in a situation, or the cpu, to sacrifice bunt. I'm going to see if lowering the contact slider helps at all.
It's not ideal, but if it provides a band aid fix until a patch comes along then its better than not being able to sacrifice bunt at all.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I believe they view the forums daily, but you can also post in the bug report thread

Re: Bunting in 17 is ATROCIOUS
Yeah, this has been frustrating. Unfortunately, my approach has been to send the runner on a count where I am pretty confident the CPU will throw a strike. I play with the Mets so luckily there is not a whole lot of bunting going on anyway, but regarding the SP's sacrificing, it is awful. It is a band aid approach, but generally speaking, if the pitch isn't a strike and I pull back the bunt, you can press (I believe) R1 to send the runner back mid-steal. The CPU sometimes throws to second (ideal) or first base but the runner always gets back in time. Super annoying, but it is another way to work around the bunting this year.Comment

Re: Bunting in 17 is ATROCIOUS
Just played a game. Opposing pitcher, give him a slider low and away, line drive one hop bunt right to my first baseman for a double play. Next time he comes up I give him a pitch up around his head....line drive, one hop bunt to the first baseman. Got a force out, but pitcher (LHB beats out the return throw).
I guess I'm going to have to do a rule wherein I just give the batter second and take the putout at first because bunting is just groundhog's day.Comment
