Re: Brett Gardner's Power is overrated in this game. Is anyone else...
There are a lot of right handed pitchers to serve up lefties. Once a player is hot he is more likely to have successful at bats. The game is home run friendly on default allstar and below difficulties. So a hot player can benefit from the easier difficulties.Comment

Re: Brett Gardner's Power is overrated in this game. Is anyone else...
Since the ratings are based off the past 3? seasons, Nelson Cruz has a 89/99 PWR split and hit 40, 44, 43 the last three seasons. Miggy C has hit a career high 44, while hitting 44, 44, 25, 38 in his past 4 COMPLETE seasons. So yes I agree, basically in the same ballpark as you.
I think that this year while there is more of a difference in the ratings for the players this year, the raw PWR rating alone isn't what is jacking up home run numbers. I think it has more to do with PWR ratings being inflated and the player's abilities exaggerated due to the new ball physics, wind actually working this year, etc.
Take those factors and put a guy like Gardner in a park like Yankee Stadium and you might get some obscure results compared to his real life counterpart.
That being said, Joey Batts hit 13 homeruns when he was 28 and then 54 when he was 29, so I guess anything COULD happenLast edited by ML; 04-19-2017, 06:45 PM.Comment

Curious to see how many of these you hit at home, as we all know Yankee Stadium is extremely lefty friendly. In fact, Gardner has hit 41 career homeruns there and only 22 in the 9 other stadiums where he's gone yard. His only homerun to left field was actually an inside the park homerun lol.
He did have 17 in '14 and 16 in '15 but then only 9 last year..Comment

I'm probably different than most but I don't mind my actual results sometimes varying from what we see in real life.
I don't mind the occasional player isn't supposed to hit homeruns in real life all of a sudden become a power hitter in my franchise.
To me, I don't really want to 100% mirror real life so I'm happy when I see anomalies like this.
Please please don't take that as a judgement of anyone who doesn't want to see differences though, this post is not meant that way at all. I just wanted to pop in and say I appreciate when one offs like this happen.Comment

I'm using directional. But it doesn't really matter because If I was using zone I am sure I would still hit more with Gardner than with everybody else. There is something up with Gardner regardless of the batting interface I am using.Comment

its definitely his power attribute is too high. I think more than a few test sims will reveal him to have 20+ hr seasons. his power numbers should be in the 30s not the 50sOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

dont know about Gardner, but Dee Gordons speed is over powered. He went 3 for 3 on 3 ground balls to the short stop. I mean hes fast in real life, but a routine ground ball is a routine ground ball. This dude is like usain bolt or something in this game.Comment

Edwin Encarcion is 91/99 Pwr...he hit 42 homeruns last year. However he's old so he's already regressed to 98 power in my season. 9 homeruns and still a week left of April.

Re: Brett Gardner's Power is overrated in this game. Is anyone else...
So I went back through every box score of the 65 Total games I have played in my Yankees season to check how many times a hitter with power in the 40's or 50's hit a homerun against me. (Playing on Hall of fame difficulty)
These are the results:
(Number to the left is power vs lefties and to the right vs righties.)
Tampa bay:
Duffy 42/43
Kiermaier 2 43/54
Rickie weeks (Hit one against Righty) 46 Pwr vs R
White sox:
Melky Cabrera 2 46/48
Lawrie 61/56
Avisail Garcia 57/49
Tim Anderson 42/45
Cody Asche 48/50
Pirates:
John Jaso 46/51
Orioles:
Seth Smith 48/59
Chris Johnson 48/41
Blue Jays:
Devon Travis 50/52
Astros:
Gurriel 2 59/54
Bregman 59/54
Gonzalez 55/50
Red sox:
Benintendi 2 41/54
Angels:
Maldonado 56/49
Athletics:
Rajai Davis 3 CF 54/42
Healy (Hit vs Righty) 56 pwr vs Rhp
De Aza 36/48
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
26 total homeruns vs batters with power in the 40's or 50's,
and I have allowed 80 homeruns.
So that means 54 homeruns have been by hitters with power of 60 or higher.Last edited by Razeart2422; 04-19-2017, 08:48 PM.Comment
