Re: MLB the Show 18 Wishlist: PLUS Things they should PATCH for MLB 17
Here’s my wishlist and it probably won’t happen. 1) switch-hitters and any player that’s also editable should have the option of 2 different batting stances. 2) Please do your Jobs Sony and fix my NY Mets, especially their jerseys and hats, heck all teams should have more past jerseys and hats !!! 3) We should be allowed to edit the actual mlb players faces, body types, hair and facial hair, since most of them end up changing their appearance. 4) Allow us to add editable service time and career stats, especially on missing players. 5) Allow face scan, and let the create a player feature system fix any uneven scans, it’ll save a lot of trouble and also bring more hair styles, such as dreads, short and long dreadlocks. 6) Also last but not least, please put more first and last name player audio, or Allow us to use our own voice on the players or the broadcasts from any teams network.Comment

Add The Astrodome to classic stadiums (my Diamond Dynasty unis are modeled after the mid-to-late 90's Astros, and I would love to be able to play there when I'm using them).
Also, I'd like the coaches to be as editable as the players. Some of the names are right, but not all, and with the ones that are right, I'd like to edit their equipment (like how the wear their pants, and I want to get rid of the god-awful generic cleats that they wear). The jackets they wear in the dugout are also terrible and completely inaccurate.Comment

I’m tired/bored of the pitching mechanics. I liked 2k’s total control concept. Especially in stressful situations trying to throw that perfect pitch...it was great. That’s my only wish for the show.

Throwback jerseys. In MLB 17 and past iterations, there doesn't seem to be any reason why teams would have certain looks from their past. With that being said, it would be fantastic if we got an overhaul of the retro jerseys available in-game, and to have them be chosen with regard to the distinctive eras in franchise history, as well as the classic stadiums we already have. An example comes to mind of the Metrodome being playable, but the Twins classic pinstripes noticeably absent. I'm compiling a (highly subjective) list of uniforms that would represent distinct eras in teams' visual identities, and would hopefully highlight some of the greatest moments along the way.
Keep in mind that some teams current jerseys are almost exact replicas of classic uni's that are already in the set. This exercise is just to see what would happen if SCEA got the most out of their throwback jersey slots.

I'd like the option to turn off morale. I just had Noah Syndergaard drop 3 points because he isn't my ace after I moved him to the #5 spot in my rotation so I could keep him on regular rest due to an off dayComment

agreed but this would be using the slots they already have for throwbacks, just refreshing the current system.Comment

I also absolutely loved how, in later versions, that it tracked how often your were throwing pitches and forced you to lay off your best pitch, which added a ton of strategy to the how you approached each batter.
2K also had the best baserunner mechanics of any baseball game. Would love to see them add that.Comment

Even the right stick hitting in that game felt so smooth. Too bad it was a homerfest and something happened with the visuals that year as well. Never did buy that game.

Truth. I recently downloaded the MLB 2K8 demo just to pitch again. I can't believe they neutered the system so much thereafter. It is one thing to give a simpler option, and it is another thing to gut it altogether.

You mean the Inside Edge information system, or something else? I can't really recall this.
Yes. What they did in ESPN MLB 2K5 with the baserunning window around the corners of the screen was ingenious, and the way you could preselect your final desination rather simply was great as well which I believe they stuck with. The sliding really put ESPN MLB 2K5 over the edge, though. The right stick worked flawlessly with it, and you had at least six different slides you could do.

I am really hoping for some type of new mechanic whether it be pitching or fielding. At the very least hoping some of the existing ones get retooled because they have become too easy even on higher difficulties.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

You can add me to the list people who want to see a new pitching mechanic in the game. The gesture pitching from the 2k stops would be great, but anything new would be welcomed by me. The current pitching mechanics have all started to feel stale to me since it's been the same for 6 straight years now.Comment

Re: MLB the Show 18 Wishlist: PLUS Things they should PATCH for MLB 17
It's based on the IE information. Let's say your pitcher throws curveballs 20% of the time. If you reach a point in which you are throwing more than 20% curveballs, the pitch selector turns yellow for that pitch, warning you. If you go well above, it goes red, and that pitch will be far less effective. Not so nerfed that it is like 2K8, where it said meatball and it was going to be a HR 90% of the time, but the batter will likely make good contact, but you can still get outs.
As a mechanic it's not really sim, because real life doesn't really work that way. But in practice, it becomes ultra sim, as you begin thinking about pitching in a sequence of pitches, trying to set up a hitter. Soon, you never really even think about the mechanic, as it has trained you to approach pitching in a way that is very realistic.
The other thing I like, is that pitch ratings are dynamic. If you screw up a pitch gesture, or start getting hammered, it will lose points If you get in a zone and start getting people out with a pitch, it gains points. This one was tweaked and changed over the course of the series from 2K8 to 2K12. I think they got it a nice balance in which it never overpowered or totally nerfed you, but it had an effect that felt fair.
Again, it wasn't realistic, but it's effect on the user was very realistic, as you began to feel the same lack of confidence as the pitcher, which would then effect how you approached a batter without good stuff on one of your pitches. Or it would give you confidence knowing that a pitch was working and becoming a serious out pitch. It worked because it was not an overpowered effect.Last edited by JayhawkerStL; 02-08-2018, 02:12 AM.Comment
