Why do most people use defaul pitch speed?

Pitch speed is soooo slow in this game... all these slider sets are all at default 5? Am I missing something?

I'm going to assume because most people are casual gamers and dont go deep in depth with any sliders, across any genre of game, and just play right out the box.

I play online a lot as well as offline a lot and if I messed with the pitch speed slider my timing will be all sorts of messed up when playing online at default sliders

I think people who've played a ton of the show over many years probably don't realize just how hard it is to pick up the game and be able to hit. I for one have played only casually in '15 and '17 and I can't hit at all. I'm plain terrible at it. In '15 I slowed pitches down just so I could have even a remote chance of recognizing what was coming. In '17 I've only been pitching; I don't even actually really feel like trying to learn how to hit.

I'm terrible... I lost like 20 in a row vs cpu...

But W/L and skill level and how elite you think I think I am has zero relevance to the fact that the incoming pitch speed seems super slow... but whatever makes you feel better chief

Not everyone has perfect reflexes or eyesight. Just something to keep in mind.

Well, I'm older than I used to be so my eyes and reflexes aren't as good. Lower pitch speed helps to mitigate that.

Also...I like to lower the pitch speed to help with pitch recognition.

Ignoring the obvious you-know-what contest that is the op... I'm going to post this here in hopes that it will help people.

I used to play 2k while in high school with the pitch speed all the way up. Then once that franchise folded I switched to the show. Being older then I was a much better pitcher, but a worse hitter. My hitting woes continued from 2012 through 2016, being a poor, slider adjusted, All Star hitter at my best.

This year they made the PCI too big on All Star, and I was losing a good amount but striking out too little and squaring up too many balls.

So I switched to Hall of Fame and downloaded a slider set that I didn't notice had pitch speed at 7. Once I figured it out I went to batting practice and started turning in fantastic at bats with better pitch recognition than I'd ever had.

So all this to say, if you're struggling with hitting, try going up in difficulty, maybe bump up the speed too. It made me use instinct and not think about it so much, and I became a pretty darn good hitter.

Yea, the faster the pitch speed the better I seem to hit. I use dynamic and those changeups on Rookie/Veteran really throw me way off in my timing. They are toooo slow lol.

only way to play... 5 and 5 is literally slow motion. You can be 87 yrs old, 27 yrs old, 4 yrs old... default gives you time to rub one out as the pitch is coming in

In 15' I used to play with pitch speed notched up 3 clicks.. I may revisit that because I like what it did to breaking balls. It gave them BITE; and edge
