I play with the Batter Camera on Catcher Offset, and with that view, I get a great view of the middle infielders during my at bats.
It has come to my attention, that the middle innies may be looking in to see the catcher's signs, and taking their first steps accordingly.
So, as a lefty batting, if something offspeed is coming, it appears as though the short stop will step towards his left, thereby making his first step towards defending a ball pulled from the lefty batter side.
Likewise, if you have a righty at the plate, and the offspeed pitch is on the way, the SS and 2nd baseman will step a half step towards their left, also covering the pull towards the offspeed shade...
If it is total coincidence, and they just move for the sake of doing something different, so be it.
But it sure seems to me that I have been able to figure out what to sit on, based on the infielders moving just prior to the pitch.
Either way, once you notice it, you'll never not see them moving...
Thoughts? Feedback on such a possibility?
