Who doesn't have a problem with hitting?

zone plus analog with stride users: that's who. seriously does anyone who uses the stride plus zone have a problem with hitting this year? finally the developers stopped rewarding button users for not having to stride. a crucial part of hitting!

there is some good pitching out there that will destroy your timing for sure! but at least you can make adjustments with your stride.

The thing that breaks this game is that being just late all the time is better than good timing. It's pretty ridiculous how effective it is. Just late on a high inside FB at 98 mph? It's going to be a hit to the opposite field, with a good chance of being a HR if the guy has power. In real life you batting average if you get jammed like that should be below .150. Not in this game though, sitting off speed and just getting jammed on inside fastballs is a winning strategy, and its just not baseball.

I get most of my hits on late timing now. It's too effective and good and early result in far too many popups or weak hits. I may have found a solution, but I don't think a lot of people will like it, without heavy slider changes. I dropped down to all star hitting. I could hit on HoF and even legend, to an extent, but I've noticed that things felt predictable and by no means organic. I dropped down to all star and the game has opened up and become much more realistic. Especially hit variety. Just tweak sliders to make it more challenging and try it. I'm actually going to turn on DD and let it go to all star++ and see how that plays out. I should mention I play directional hitting and that has a huge impact on how hitting pans out on higher difficulties. It's essentially a crap shoot and unrealistic and definitely not fun/ rewarding, hence my switch. I will say though, that at all star I see a few well hit balls a game that would have been garbage on HoF and I don't rely on late timing to actually get on base. Just feels better.

Some of those "Just Late hits" are actually good hits to the opposite power alleys and result better than the properly timed At'Em ball.

What do you see as the differences between the different zone styles? What benefit would I receive by switching to stride?

Does the stride timing matter? I was under the impression that it didn't and you could pull back well before the pitch without penalty.

I believe it's a hidden thing. I do wish they would put that in the swing timing analysis, because I honestly don't know exactly when I'm supposed to be striding.

I was having a pretty enjoyable hitting experience prior to this most recent patch. After this patch I am having HUGE problems hitting. Everything feels scripted just like the past couple of years games.

Couldn't agree more. About five singles I get on balls that would be homers pre patch. I get 7 hits and lose 2-1 while my opponent hits two homers and zero hits other than that. Worst patch ever

it does matter and it changes from hitter to hitter.

if you want to pull a fastball high and in your batter needs to be in his forward momentum in addition to being in the 'hammer' position by the time the ball is halfway to the plate. if you go too early his momentum will get there too soon and his bat will drag through the zone, and in some cases you may actually swing through it especially if it's offspeed.
if you start too late his momentum will not have begun and he may also be a bit off balance as he is still moving back towards the catcher trying to gather his momentum. it changed drastically from last year, and even more from years previous where at one point you just had to stride when the pitcher released the ball.

also for righty vs righty and lefty vs lefty pay attention to the pitchers front foot as he is landing while still focusing on the ball and it's release point. this will help you pick up where the ball is going to be thrown because your eyes will measure the distance between from where the ball is being released from the pitchers front foot. naturally you will notice the variance in timing, and the different release points each pitcher has for each pitch in specific locations. You won' t have to think about it, you will see it.

trust me, professional hitters still have trouble knowing when to stride as they have to adjust to the pitcher. there is no exact point at which you have to stride. you'll just have to get to know your hitters
