Re: MLB The Show 17 Patch 1.10 Available Now, Patch Notes Included

First game after the patch and my offense is like swinging underwater. It's weird, I've had countless pitches to hit and done nothing with them short of a double by Seager. I'm facing Oakland so not like I'm facing a great rotation, my offense literally can't do anything at all. Hopefully it's just a one off coincidence since last night I was hitting just fine against Houston.

Sometimes it feels like my team plays up as well as down to the competition as I can play well against Houston but then struggle against Oakland but that's a discussion for another day.

EDIT - That was probably the most frustrating game offensively I've had in the roughly 180 games I've played. I got numerous pitches to hit and did nothing with them, couldn't square anything up and hit the ball either right at someone or lofted a lazy fly ball for an out. I ended up losing 1-0 at Oakland in 13 innings. I really hope they just don't touch anything offline anymore, 10 patches seems a bit much at this point and it feels like every time they release one I've gotta figure out, through trial and error, what possibly was changed. It's impossible to know if the patch did anything or it was just one of those games and it coincidentally happened first game post patch, hopefully it's not a trend that continues as I won't play in the dead ball era and will just shelve the game entirely.

It's fine occasionally but I hate that it happens so often. Occasionally I'd like to move a runner up on my own.
Really? What level do you play on? I am on Hall of Fame hitting and didn't see a passed ball in either game I played tonight. I saw one that was blocked, but bounced away enough to allow an advance, but zero wild pitches or passed balls.

Yeah, I rarely see the opposing team/AI throwing wild pitches. It is always the other way around for me and Contreras seems way too slow about gunning down a guy trying to advance.

That lazy throw by the catcher is across the board regardless of ratings. They only seem to gun it when the runner advancing has speed and he's already sliding into the base as he starts to throw so doesn't make a difference. Because of that I tend to lean towards it being a pre-determined outcome based solely on the difference in velocity.

I think they should stop patching this game. It's a fruitless effort at this point. Most of the last few patches have been lambasted by the community, so I think the dev team has reached a no-win situation. What I would recommend is spending the next 7 months doing nothing but continuously patch this game (internally, not for release) and test the hell out of it. Wash, rinse, repeat, until everything tests well.

With the exception of maybe having the art team add some more classic stadiums (and touch up the current ones), I think they should skip all the other yearly stuff, like attempting to cram in a new feature, or satisfying everyone who gets all giddy in January anticipating who the "cover boy" is, and all the other stuff that basically means nothing in the long run. The question for all of you is: if they released a version of MLB 17 that was PERFECT, and called it MLB 18, would you buy it? I would.

Away for work so can't play til this weekend but man this is disheartening to read. I was really hoping the hitting would be reverted back to pre 1.08. I'm really hoping this was just one bad game for you Chef. Hoping like hell you see more offense next game. Thanks for your thoughts on the patch.

                  No one?
Is that in general or specific after this patch? I have not seen any issue prior to this patch with the CPU bringing up players to a full 25 man MLB roster. I have one team where I manually update and the other 29 I let the CPU handle the roster moves.

Yeah I'm hopeful it was just a fluke. I tend to only have time to play 1 game after work so can't get enough games in in one sitting to test whether it was the patch or just back luck and the timing was coincidental. I had scored 11 runs the previous two games and then didn't have a hit at Oakland through 6 innings so the difference was so glaring and it happening after the patch just made me wonder what the culprit might be. I'd prefer it just be a slump, or a fluke, or whatever you wanna call it as I have no desire to go back to slider hell all over again.

Yeah, I uhh use sliders and have since the game dropped. I have posted numerous times that I am using Armor & Swords sliders and I've posted countless times about my stats and leading the league in runs as well as batting average as a team for season one. Keeping that in mind, why would I go tinker with sliders after one game? Clearly my offense was functioning at a high level prior to the one game so certainly wouldn't touch them after said one game. I was simply mentioning my issues to see if anyone else experienced it, more so to try and validate that it might have just been a one off fluke as opposed to a side effect from the patch.

I sincerely hope it's nothing more then a fluke. Wouldn't have to guess and trial and error things if patch notes included everything that was altered instead of the generic obligatory "misc fixes" type of statement.

You can call for a challenge. After the play, hold SQUARE. Works every time and then I decide if I actually want to initiate the challenge.

Ive never had it not work Pad. If you hold SQUARE after the play (of course first base only to my knowledge) it brings up the timer and animation to accept or cancel the challenge.

Wow, had no idea you could manually trigger a review like that. I wish I had known as there were times where it wouldn't trigger on it's own so I was under the impression it wasn't an option.

On a curious note does this also work when it's the third out of an inning?
