Re: Rosters Could be very very interesting this year
I can live without the portraits, but one thing I would like to see them do is include options in the audio for the top prospects. Ronald Acuna will be on the Braves at some point in 2018, but all season we'll have to hear "now batting, number 27" or "number 27 makes the catch". If they are a top 10 prospect in the organization, include their names.
This...but kinda....
You can always add the player's name later via the edit player screen. However, I hate that top prospects do not have their names in the name bank.
I am sure "Acuna" isn't a name in the name audio bank on the player edit page, but it should be. They should add all top 300 prospects names to the name bank. It would help keep franchises realistic as you move year to year.
I would think out of the top 300 prospects, MOST names are in there. But names like Acuna, Otani, or Gleyber (Torres) probably aren't and should be since these guys will most likely make a debut in 2018.Comment

Re: Rosters Could be very very interesting this year
The audio thing is puzzling, it’s random one year there mike olt wasn’t in the database but he had been the game before.
And year saying “number 27” is very annoying it’s to say “the first baseman” then the number would sound more realisticComment

Re: Rosters Could be very very interesting this year
I would rather they just go ahead and use the virtual faces for every player in the game anyway. I think that would look better than having some real pictures, and then some virtual ones when they sign somewhere else.Comment

Re: Rosters Could be very very interesting this year
I think this should be done for consistency too, but I would love the option to upload our own, we can do this with sound effects and music, pictures are smaller files. they probably use some unique compression thoughComment

You can actually do this in your franchise before you even start. Not sure if you are aware of it or not.Comment

Re: Rosters Could be very very interesting this year
What I mean by change his name is grab the SCEA CAP of Swihart in MLB 15. While still in MLB 15 just change his first name from Blake to Blakee and he'll transfer through 16 and 17 as a CAP. Once you get him to 17 just change his first name back to Blake. DON'T give any of the CAPS audio names or the commentary lines will disappear.
And that is how it works. This works with most CAPS from MLB 14 through MLB 16.Comment

Re: Rosters Could be very very interesting this year
There is a work around for this, but it does involve some work. Using Blake Swihart as an example. If you go back to MLB 15 and get the SCEA version of him (that was added in a roster update) and export him through 15, 16, and onto 17 he will keep all his commentary lines. This works with a number of players especially those with names not in the database. What makes it a bit of a process is you have to get service time for each player up to date and in order for him to actually transfer across 3 versions of The Show you have to change his name (you have to do this if the player was added in MLB 14 or 15).

However it wouldn't work for guys like Eric Thames that was last seen in MLb 12 I think. that one was very annoying the Eric./... Thames (and he pronounced it incorrectly too)
I would have to install all the old MLB games however. I bought them all digital so I would have to use up a lot more time to go all the way back to 14. but indeed a very good trick to know.
Because some of the names that we put up on the audio makes the commentator sound like a Robot. so we could get Eric........ Thames and it will sound like a non flowing line where it is edited.witht he wrong upward inflections Eric thames was a perfect example of this last year. this is very annoying.Last edited by ninertravel; 01-29-2018, 12:22 AM.Comment

I didn't know about this one that is excellent to know!

In 18 if you don't like Thames' face scan (idk if he was scanned this past ST or not) then just import his SCEA CAP from 17 into 18 and don't give him any audio names he should keep his commentary lines that he would have in 18. Assuming he works in the workaround. Not all players work, but most do.Last edited by ShowTyme15; 01-29-2018, 12:32 AM.Comment

Re: Rosters Could be very very interesting this year
I didn't know if you keep it blank then it would say their actually game proper audio, but I am guess it has to be from a SCEA player in the data base that it's linked to with some sort of number that matches it.
It is one of the reasons I don't re create players, I know a lot of people didn't like Lindor face scan last year. but I would rather that then a dodgy audio, and having to scan through service time with inaccurate career stats.
I said this in another thread but a export import face likeness button would be great if we could A) do that DURING a franchise. or B actually do that to the real players in the game. so that it would only just change the face but nothing else. so if Andrew Miller ever went back to the Yankees we could give him a shave in mid August.
I don't think that would ever be possible through with licensing issues to allowComment

Also I get the inaccurate stats part, but in a carryover save stats are going to be incorrect anyways so at that point it doesn't even matter. Service time becomes important really. The deeper you get into a franchise weather carryover or not stats won't be accurate with real life anyways.Comment

Re: Rosters Could be very very interesting this year
I thought I remembered one year where they would update the portraits during the season if some players were traded to a new team. I think Alfonso Soriano was one, unless it was because he was a Yankee before. That would be a great feature for 18 though to have portraits updated when on new teams.Comment
