Seriously. I don’t even play the mode, and one has to be living under a gaming rock if they think this mode is not as big as it is, in a sea of Ultimate Team in Madden, and the almost billion dollar a year revenue the FIFA mode brings in.

The sales went from a plateau, to over a million and climbing since the addition of this mode, and is providing them revenue to continue to get solid funding from Sony I would wager.

It is also the most fair play version between balance of earning and having to buy, of said modes in sports games.

I used to be only franchise mode and would complain too that something like DD was getting all the love and not franchise, but now, I love DD. The release of the new game is less than 2 weeks away and I am still trying to complete missions and get cards from last year's game. I am still doing battle royale. The only DD mode I don't care for is conquest mode. I complete it once to complete the mission but that's it. I love trying to get new cards to play with. It mixes things up for me. I still want fixes for franchise but I do love the changes they make for DD.

As a 22 year old college grad, I’m in the middle of what this generation plays.

I love Franchise. I play all 162 and throw in some Player Locks to play with the stars in the MLB who aren’t on my team. I love the 162 grind as well as the scouting and development. I usually end up playing another 3-4 years into the future(not all 162 but maybe play 1 sim 5). I love bringing a guy I drafted up and having success with him. I wish they would add more to Franchise though. Give me better AI for lineups/bullpen/rosters/Trade.

I also play plenty of RTTS. In 16 I played every at bat of a 17 year career. That was the best RTTS experience I ever had. I like the changes that were made this year with the progression and archetypes. Makes my player unique to everyone else’s 99 RTTS player.

And still, I thoroughly enjoy playing DD. The card collecting aspect is so fun and addicting. I’ve collected every live series card in the game 3 years in a row. That’s important to me.

But in DD, it’s a way to break up the grind of a home stand in Franchise. It’s a way to play a full game and not just one player’s at bats in RTTS. It’s a way to play competitive baseball against a stranger online and prove I can play The Show at a competitive level. But I refuse to put extra money after buying digital deluxe edition of the game. Mainly because I know if I play enough I’ll make up those stubs for free.

I have never been a fan of the “less time, more action” quicker ways to sim, less game time. But I do use Quick Counts from time to time just because I’m pretty impatient and can’t work the count so the opposing SP often times has a 50 pitch count in the 7th inning.

So I know I’m in between the new school of players and old school of players here on OS.

In MY (again, MY) perfect world, another MLB game would come out which focused exclusively on RTTS/DD to allow SD Studios to pay ALL of their attention to Franchise mode...

But (and too SD Studio’s credit) it would take another game forever to catch up & match 1/2 of the Show’s content...

A little something for everyone with a LOT to like here...

That's actually a worst case scenario because of the revenue generated by those modes. If a competitor came out with those modes being their sole purpose SDS would be forced to spend more time focusing on them. Not less.

That would completely leave franchise in the dust. Sometimes you guy need to think of the business side of things rather than with your heart. Selling and improving franchise has a finite end. Anything other than that does not.

May be that this idea is against the grain, but I’d like a conpletely monetized franchise mode. I would actually pay money for all of the things that I want in franchise mode.

That being a paid dlc to be able to alter prices on concessions. Paid dlc to build a new stadium. Paid dlc to hire and fire coaches. Paid dlc to bring players up/send them down. Just make it worth my while. Make it fully fleshed out and go conpletely in depth. I will actually pay you for that.

I’m so fed up with developers monetizing a card collecting mode that I would pay whatever they ask to just focus on franchise mode for once. Monetize however they want. Offer a season pass. Who cares? Just focus on making a real mode of play that doesn’t focus on cards. Let me pay you to make a complete game mode based entirely around being the general manger of a sports team while being able to play as that team in a realistic fashion.

I WILL PAY FOR IT. Just allow me to pay for the opportunity. Please capitalize off of me. Please.

Please, don't give them any ideas!

Not saying this is a bad workaround (though I think it is myself), but you know how it goes... first they give people the option for a luxury item, then it becomes a requisite later down the road, and so-on and so-forth.

Do you know how grand PS+ was when it released? I happily gave them my $50/year to have dedicated this-and-that. I felt elite, the free games were an awesome commodity and worth the investment, I had a little icon indicating my status, it was really cool. Then the PS4 came out and it was pretty much a necessity to pay to play online. Now the games are mediocre (except this month), the prices have steepened, and we still have yet to see substantial increases in performance or security from the system.

I'm not saying that SDS is like them, though they are under the larger umbrella that is Sony... but this just screams "slippery slope" in every which way. I also totally understand what you mean when you say what you do, but I don't think we can get everything we desire even at a premium cost, and I also think these can be had for the price of admission just as they once were.

Hell no. I buy the show for franchise mode only. I'm not paying $60 and X amount more for extra franchise features. That's ludicrous. DD is a monetized mode and gets most attention. Franchise isn't monetized, nor should it ever be. 2k does just fine with the monetizing of VC and myplayer and still has by far and away the most robust franchise mode out there. It's not even close.

We can talk about the size of SDS all we want, but when they have one guy on franchise mode, and that same guy works on DD, we have a problem.

We are where we are with sports games and card modes. I'm not paying extra for franchise features when MVP05 almost 15 years ago had a better franchise mode.
