    Creating/Editing Coaches?

Any word on if we will be able to edit the exiting coaches/manager, or possibly create our own in MLB The Show 18?

Maybe it's your dream to manage your favorite team, just like you can create players, you could create yourself and put yourself in as the manager?

Or maybe your first base coach was given highsocks in the game, but he doesn't wear them in real life,..you could edit the pants for that coach?

I think this would be a great addition to the game.

    Re: Creating/Editing Coaches?

I would like to see Head Coaches, 1st Base, 2nd Base, 3rd Base etc actually impact the game on the field. The grades and attributes have been in MLB The Show for years but I have never seen them actually impact the game.

An example would be. A+ 3rd Base Coach knows when to send a runner running from second on a ball hit to the gap. D+ 3rd Base Coach would make a different decision. Currently there is no way to differentiate them so the CPU runners ignore and just continue on their paths resulting in outs etc.

Could be possible in MLB The Show 2019 or MLB The Show 2020 but based on the videos coming out for MLB The Show 2018. I have not seen any sights of it!

In professional baseball they are called Managers.

None yet, but the Franchise blog/stream/deep dive takes place starting March 12th, so I'm sure we will find out then.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I really wish they would add this in, I've been asking for it for years. It sucks when a coach or manager has the wrong uniform number, appearance, etc. From one of the early vids, the Yankees manager has a beard! Big no-no.

I feel like the Yankees coaching staff in the game is going to be a disaster, which is why I was hoping for the ability to edit.

Boone is a first year manager, so he's not going to be in. Phil Nevin (3rd base coach) and Reggie Willits (1st Base Coach) are both new to the Yankees and I don't believe either coached last year, so they aren't going to be in either.

I know we can fire the manager and coaches, so worst case senario like you said with the beard, I fire the default coaches and just hire ones that LOOK ok, because as has been said, I don't believe the coach attributes really actually affect the team.

Uniform numbers for 1b/3b coach is really what will set off my OCD, but maybe they can fix that with a roster update/patch once the coaches even decide on what their numbers will be.

Larry Rothschild (pitching coach) and Allan Cockrell (hitting coach) are the only coaching positions in the game that are hold overs from Girardi's staff. There are others (Marcus Thames (Assistant hitting coach), Mike Harkey(bullpen Coach)....but those jobs are not represented in the game.

Surprisingly, BENCH COACH is still not represented in The Show. Previously it was Rob Thomson, but now on the Yankees that role has been filled by Josh Bard.

But yeah, this season Yankees fans are probably going to have to just deal with a coaching staff of generics with wrong uniform numbers. Those things will be correct in The Show 19.

I doubt its coming anytime soon but I hope that's something being considered. There's nothing worse than playing with classic rosters and Donnie baseball is playing AND managing.

If nothing else, I’d like to at least have the option to get rid of the beard, give him number 17, and put his name as Aaron Boone. I know he wouldn’t look like Boone exactly, but at least I could have the right name and number, even if it is a generic look.

This would have been helpful in 2017. Ron Washington, the Braves 3B coach was a joke. He wasn't even the right skin tone.

                        Re: Creating/Editing Coaches?

What I would like to see one year soon is a full blown upgrade to the managing and coaching staff part of the game. The ability to create and edit coaches is only part of it. I would like to see them introduce a whole manager tendencies system. It would increase the realism if manager tendency sliders were added helping make them manage more like the manager does in real life.

It would also create a different feeling to each series. It goes without saying being able to edit those tendencies would be a must as well. Heck, if you want to get even deeper, maybe tendencies for the entire coaching staff.

As jada855 said, making coaches actually impact the game on the field is something that needs to happen as well. All of that would add a ton to what is currently a very basic and lacking in depth part of the game.

It would be nice rather then a fake manager. so Aaron Boone won't be in the game this year some fake coach. it's a shame we can't edit them

If we aren’t getting the ability to edit managers this year I really hope they at least get rid of the beard for the Yankees generic fake manager for this year before the game releases if they haven’t already. That footage was from an earlier build so I’m pretty optimistic that that is something that will be fixed by the time we all get our hands on the game.

Not quite sure how that could go completely overlooked and still be a thing when the game releases. Many people noticed it easily and have pointed it out, surely they are aware by now. I’d think it’d be a pretty simple thing to change.
