It isn't wrong or broken. SCEA chose to take the game in a quicker paced direction. What I'm trying to say is, don't count on it being changed.

I think they should have an option for how it was years ago when all animations played out, but it's gone.
Do it. (Release The Show for PC)

Yeah it still there when I saw the stream. Them why have am option for fast play makes no sense. I picked up MLB 17 because it was cheap. I haven't played MLB since 15. I mean yes they have some improvements but when playing 17 I got so bored after 5 games. I know baseball is slow it's just that we are seeing the same thing from Sony year after year with alittle upgrade . I think they need to scratch everything and start over to make it fresh. I used to love MLB just not any more because nothing has changed even on the new platform.

Playing a franchise game in 17, and I noticed the crowd is already doing some of the things they stated in this stream. It's just inconsistent the two examples given I experienced in my game.

Their sales would plummet if they reversed course and built what sounds like a bare bones game that you are advocating.

They may be doing it for the PS5, but yes it wouldn't make any sense to do on this generation of consoles.

You can pick up a few tidbits from these streams when they go to the developer only code screens. For example if you freeze it at 1:33:57 you see a couple interesting things.

high speed hitting analysis temperature/overcast disabled - I knew temperature impacted hitting and gameplay but overcast is new to me.

always no doubt home run - I'm sure they previously said home runs were only accomplished by the distance of the ball exceeding the distance of the wall. There are in fact no doubt home runs programmed into the game.

override manager personality - not sure what that means. Does each individual manager have his own personality or is this simply a way to stop the AI from making managerial moves?

force arm acc attrib - there is an arm acceleration attribute?

Also 3 seconds later there is a list of ways in which players can get injured.

Maybe it's just me but I find this stuff interesting because it peels back the cover and provides a bit of insight into the inner workings of the game for things which exist but are hidden from view.

                  Two things:

                  I think thats arm accuracy.

And I wonder if the force no doubt HR is to force the presentation and not the result?

I'm guessing that widget is only there for testing reasons. Making sure the homerun cameras, bat flips, home run presentations are working, etc.

Yes, it is only on the debug units.

That's why we have different modes. Fast plays and broadcast play. They had that in MLB 15 I think and they took it out. We should have the option for Fast play where they skip some presentation stuff or broadcast or slow play and let the presentation play out.

Arm accuracy is right, I was wrong.

I disagree about the force no doubt HR for this reason - in the game there are home runs which are in doubt until the ball goes over the wall. The animation begins before the ball leaves the bat. I think there are no doubt HR. I also would prefer to be able to turn the animation off and just watch it from normal camera.

The ability to force it to happen is obviously only in the developer kit but the fact that it verifies there are no doubt home runs is new. Previously they said home runs are only based upon whether the ball distance exceeds the wall at that location.

No doubt HRs have always been verified. They have their own presentation sequence that is different than shorter HRs. Thus the widget being available to test the presentation aspects of the no doubt HR.

That widget probably just makes sure the ball goes at least 450 feet or something.

I recall back in at least MLB '99 that I once tried to create a player with no last name so that I could get a jersey with no name on the back like the Yankees have. What I found was the game automatically assigned the last name "Murray" to the back of my jersey. Every time I hit with power though, I would hit 606 foot home runs. Every. Single. Time. I thought it was some sort of glitch.

Anyway, at some point I ended up somehow seeing the game's credits and saw there was a Scott Murray on the development team, so I created a player named Scott Murray, putting two-and-two together. Low and behold, I believe every ball he hit was a 609 foot home run. This eventually got me to find out that I could get negative scores and stats if I went too high up, but I digress.

The point is they probably don't have something in play when we play to say that they will sometimes let a no-doubt home run kick in. I'm guessing that widget just overrides all of the other ones and says "This ball will be fair and go 450+ feet," which of course would probably also kick in the no-doubt presentation.

Nothing sinister here that I can see.
