Not sure, but my guess would be probably not. I was not willing to use many stubs to purchase classic stadiums in 17 so I probably would balk at spending real money, considering I will already be paying $100 for digital deluxe.

Re: Would you support DLC Classic Stadiums
To answer your question, because of $$$. They probably can’t get the rights to some of them at all, and others would cost an arm and a leg to obtain. And I’m sure their “metadata” suggests that they would net limited return on the deal, if anything at all, by the time the resources went into creating them.
I would love more recent old stadiums, but I would personally be more apt to pay for more uniforms. Or would love to see a uniform vault online with each team having 2 empty slots and us being able to download user created uniforms for personal use.Anyone who claims to be a fan of two teams in the same pro sport is actually a fan of none.Comment

Re: Would you support DLC Classic Stadiums
As much as I would love to have more ballparks, I am not sure that I would support DLC. It would depend on price and packaging. My concern with this is two fold.
Lets assume a ball park is $2.99 and they release 10 parks, because we can be fairly certain they will not give anything away. So thats $30 more dollars, effectively raising the price to $90 for the game. Which for me in terms of dollar to hour play time is still a deal, I guess.
My other concern is would we have to pay this extra money every year for the same stadiums as we moved on to a newer game?Anyone who claims to be a fan of two teams in the same pro sport is actually a fan of none.Comment

If Ebbets, Candlestick, Kingdome, etc., were offered as DLC? Yes, I would absolutely buy each and every one of them without hesitation.www.heyimbill.com | sports poster art and other cool stuffComment

Re: Would you support DLC Classic Stadiums
Now this was almost 5-6 years ago, but the last time I was at SD Studios, when we asked, the main reason for licensing stadiums was the cost. I believe Ebbets was used as an example of licensing costs being astronomical and never seeing a return, even if DLC.Last edited by EnigmaNemesis; 03-02-2018, 11:55 AM.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Yes, just as someone owns the rights to the 'estate' of someone who passed away, thus those Legend players still have to be licensed.

You wouldn't think stadiums would cost as much in licensing as some of these old time players, especially Babe Ruth and Ted Williams. They also could use fake names like ASB did "Retro Dodger"
I would pay extra for DLC Classic stadiums though, you would think a lot of fans would pay and offset cost for the licensing.Comment

Re: Would you support DLC Classic Stadiums
I don't use classic teams or uniforms. I've never even played a full game in any of the classic stadiums. I really wouldn't need this feature. I know there are a lot of people who'd like it though.Comment

I've seen some say to include real Minor league stadiums as DLC. As much as I want them, I'm against that because I feel if they get them they should just be part of the game as Minor league teams are included in the game. I would be against any sort of DLC for Minor League stadiums.
I also want to make it clear I'm in no way suggesting DLC over a create a stadium option. I want that period. I'm just randomly trying to see what folks thing and so far I'm enjoying reading the feedback here.Check out my updated 2017 blog on building a high school football video game:

Re: Would you support DLC Classic Stadiums
I rarely play classic rosters/seasons/uniforms being in the younger fan minority on this site.
I might dabble in the Classic stadiums in the game already but I don’t think I’d see myself buying others in a DLC pack.

Re: Would you support DLC Classic Stadiums
I wonder what the time frame on the likenesses are for people who have passed away. Non sports video games use historical characters all the time. At some point, everything has to become part of the general free domain.Anyone who claims to be a fan of two teams in the same pro sport is actually a fan of none.Comment

Re: Would you support DLC Classic Stadiums
For likeness it is personality rights, which does not have an international standard, so they fall under the country's laws. So let's say for a photo you take, copyright currently lasts life of creator plus 70 years, or a flat 95 years for corporate authorship. So these are likely to extend past the expiration of the personality rights.
However California (since it has the most celebrities) enacted a law where it is for life, plus 70 years (when passed down to family), there are a dozen or so other states that follow suit.
Copyrights prior to 1923 have expired, but not sure how the renewal works on that.
It is all complex no matter what, lol. So in other words, long past our time for them to lift.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment
