Damn that's rough. Online Franchise isn't my mode but I know the feeling when your favourite way to play is removed. Sorry for anyone out there that was an online Franchise guy.

This does not affect me, but you are right. How long before my or your preferred way to play the game is removed? In fact for all I know my preferred way to play the game "Offline Manage Only Mode" isn't even in MLB 18. In fact a certain high level SDS staff member publicly stated during the DEV stream a couple of years ago "Who in their right mind would ever want to play this way. Let's show something else, this is boring". Perhaps I make the mistake every year of pre-ordering the game assuming the way I like playing the game is still available. Perhaps the smarter thing to do is wait until the game is released to find out what is in the game and what has been removed instead of relying on them to show us only what they want us to see based on how they want us to play.

I’m definitely not expecting the mode to return, especially anytime soon. Wasn’t it a few years ago that they stripped features from the offline franchise mode because they weren’t functioning proper to what was expected, and all these years later we don’t have things like promotions, news paper headlines, and owner’s options back in the series?

And regardless of what they, or anyone else claims, when gaming companies make DD and Ultimate Team modes a top priority then other aspects of those franchises suffer or fall behind. It has to be might difficult to get corporate or a boss that looks at the bottom line to sign off on the offline gaming improvements when paid packs drive the finances.

Heck, how many of us have suffered through the pc putting a non catcher in at catcher only to have them drop nearly every pitch? And now the video of Ted Williams, with arguably the best hand-eye coordination ever in the game, misplaying nearly every toss over to first base, just because DD players were abusing playing players “out of position.”

I get that we love this game and the producers of it, but this sucks. And I don’t fault anyone who won’t purchase the product because of how this was handled or because of how the game is being built now with these focuses or lack there of. And I certainly won’t begrudge those who speak up in a manner in which is appropriate and let’s their displeasure be known, because the metadata doesn’t tell the whole story here.

Maybe someone can fill me in here. Why remove online franchise, but leave online for DD and regular play? Does online franchise go through more stress test?

OF had a multitude of issues beyond just servers.

I think it had to do with OF's current working state and the identity of what OF should really be. If the direction of the current mode did not make sense anymore and it appears it didn't because it sat stagnant for the past few years, then it was the easy cut. You are not going to build on something you don't believe in. The alpha was done with DD, that should have been a clue for us.

After 17, I really felt that was the last time we were going to see OF. I did think they were going to try to swing everyone over to DD by being able to set up leagues like OF but that does not seem to be the case.

If any DEV gets my benefit of the doubt and full TRUST of what they are doing, it's SCEA.

Will it be back? Who knows.

Bottom line is if they can't get it to work better there's no use for it to be there anyways.
I'd rather them attack it head on with a possibility of it returning better than ever than it be same ole same ole..

I have a quesiton to everyone, because thease guys have 9 months to make a game every year because it is a sports game, and most other games gets years to get something done and can push back release dates if the game isn't ready to be out.

would you rather the way it is now a game every year knowing sometimes features have to be taken out to improve on and we get baby steps forward every year.

Or

Only have this game come out every 5 years but every 5 years it is a flawless game with every single feature working 100% to your pleasure. with 5 years worth of new stuff you want in 5 years time

Even if they skipped 5 years, people would still complain that something wasn't in or something didn't work right....etc....

I've said for about 6-7 years that Madden/2k/The Show ALL need to run on 2 year cycles, with a big patch during the year that the game doesn't get refreshed. slight gameplay improvements and a roster update.

Will The Show 17 servers stay up with ability to play OF? that's the least they can do.

The servers for '16 are still up and running so I am going to say that there is a good chance that the servers for '17 will stay up and running.
