That is all I caught after watching a 50 second video once. I am sure guys on here saw 50 things I did not.
I did and it’s the same thing as last year only now there are cut scenes showing soft toss, working out etc., and they don’t appear to be interactive. The path to development and performance based progression are nothing more than dressed up versions of skill points from last year.

I played multiple seasons across three different players (two carry overs and one new) and I did not like the cut scenes. For example my pitcher will rack up about 8-12 strikeouts every start. I would get the same exact cut scene with the same exact dialogue options after every single game without fail. I got so sick of it.

It was very much scripted and not adaptive. Did anyone who created a player last year not get shuffled to a new position, even just temporarily? It did not matter if you were great at the position or not. Almost everyone saw that play out because there were limited interactions and they seemed determined that players were going to see them one way or another.

Well everybody has an opinion, I completely disagree.

They did say this was the first step and very basic and would be built upon moving forward.

17 was the first time I really stuck with a RTTS player. And it was probably because I used Jethro/JMyers 1987 90 man roster and was drafted by the Yankees in Round 1 after going back to college. They moved me from 3B to RF after 1 month at AA.

I went on to hit .298/32HR/107 RBI's in year 1. We also lost in game 7 of our AA championship where I hit .267 with 2 doubles a triple and 5 RBI's. Dave Winfield is 36 years old, and I am out producing Jay Buhner, Gary Ward, Roberto Kelly and Deion Sanders....so a call up would be great!

          I was promoted to AAA on a 1 year deal at 87K. I am a 72 overall.

I am hooked and carrying this player over to 18. I am starting my 2nd year and will carry him over on the 23rd before starting the regular season.

I am very excited for the new features in progression for 18. I am also hopeful the documentary and interactions will be even more immersive.

See, luckily I was sent back to my primary position of SS after they moved me to LF. Having played the mode for years I have played most positions. My main carry over player is a CF. I did not want to play another player in the OF which is why I chose SS. If they had kept me in the OF I would have just quit that play through and deleted the player.

It could be that I am in the minority on all this but it is hard to tell. There are not many dedicated RTTS posters on any of the MLB The Show forums, in spite of it being the most played game mode. There are mostly Franchise players (here) or DD players (reddit and The Show Nation) for whom RTTS is a diversion and not their main game mode.

Something about this makes me think that Single A could be included fingers crossed.

To be fair, it was called a "call up track" so, in theory, if they included a basic single A, AA would be the first step in that...meaning A ball could technically still be an addition (WAY TO KEEP LONG SHOT HOPES ALIVE, ME!).

In all seriousness though, I'm guessing it's most likely that there would be a scenario that's more simplified or behind the scenes, similar to last year's draft tryout games (if it's interactive to determine roster placement) or you "going back to college" (if it's more of a cutscene formality).

I play RTTS exclusively , I am looking forward to these positive changes as long as doesn't regress your progress to the the show in timely fashion. I am not interested a long grind , so hopefully there will be options in that regard.

I noticed there are new archetypes. (Vlad/Cespedes examples). I like this in that it doesn’t let you max out all attributes no matter your position/play style.

I noticed it’s also a different attribute upgrading system. It looks like you will be capped at the beginning and by playing you raise the cap and allow your player to be better.

Similar to the 2K route they took. Playing a game allows you to upgrade the attribute but you still have to “pay” for the upgrade.

I hope this doesn’t mean it will cost stubs to increase RTTS attributes. That would be a huge letdown.

I was never a big fan of the documentary.

Not impressed at all to be honest. I couldn't bear to even get through half an RTTS season last year, and I have concerns this year as well.

I just hope there’s been changes to how you play catcher in this mode. As of 17’ even with Fielding opportunities set to “some” you get plays that don’t involve your position.

I just want to Field when there’s a stolen base attempt, bunt, pop up, even dropped third strike.

In 17 you get those along with random at bats and you have to call every single pitch.

I’d like it to be like any other position where you only play the pitch of the event. If there’s a runner on first, the only pitch I want to play is the one he’s stealing. Not the entire time. Same with dropped third strikes. Let me play that one pitch that is thrown in the dirt and I have to block it with the right analog stick and throw the guy out at first.

It would be such a fun way to play especially playing catcher my whole life.
