Re: Do you guys get bored with MLB The Show?
Ok guys I haven't picked up MLB since 15. I decided to pick up 17 last week because it was on sale and cheap.
I literally got bored after the first 5 games. What does Sony need to do to make MLB fresh? It's not adding rain delays and it's not making the crowd attendance react to what's going on the field . I believe it's just that the game is stale now. Don't get me wrong it's a beautiful game but Sony never really adds anything to make the game seem fresh.
I think Sony needs to start fresh and build a whole new game. Of course Sony won't do that because they don't need to because it's the only game on the market. But from my view point the game is getting stale and boring.
I am not knocking the game by any means but Sony for me to buy your baseball game you can't just make little upgrades year ater year. I know I will get crap for giving my point of view. Again, I am not knocking the game at all. Thank God Rynolds is not in 18. He was terrible in 17. Matt Vasgersan has to go. He makes the game boring lol. Get rid of Vasgersan for next year please lol.
Can I just ask people in this forum if I am right or wrong that the game gets boring after a while? I don't even play a whole season and I love baseball games. I think Sony needs a competitor in the baseball areana so they have competition. Tell me what you guys think?
I play this game almost exclusively (for past 2 years), and do not get bored of it until around February or March and then the new one is ready to come out haha. I played tons of NHL in the past (in the same manner) but that game is stale now in my opinion and the last few years I just can't get into it no matter how much I love hockey. I dabble in other games but always come back to the Show or NHL but right now it is always the Show.NHL: Rangers

There are still things that can be added to the game to make it more "refreshed" though. Expansion/relocation, create-a-stadium, more franchise ins and outs, etc.
NHL very effectively added the expansion part of the game with creation components. That would be pretty cool to have as an option for baseball even though expansion/relocation might not happen for awhile.NHL: Rangers

Re: Do you guys get bored with MLB The Show?
I said that treating games and developers with kid gloves today simply because we used to make do with lesser technology yesterday doesn't make any sense. Game developers have always worked with what they had at the time, they kinda don't have any choice in that. So I'm not going to reward them for it now any more than I'm going to retroactively punish older developers for having more hardware limitations. Personally I think some old games are better than new games and vice versa, and so do a lot of other people.
Your terms don't dictate the criteria I use to judge games. Saying current gen stuff is better because it's current gen is to me a case of special pleading. We all know that there are horrible games released on the current gen just like there were horrible games released a long time ago. The Show is not a horrible game by any stretch of the imagination, but that doesn't mean pointing out issues with it means one is spoiled for not paying the proper reverence to the current gen pantheon. That's just silly.Comment

What's the got to do with me? I never agreed with the OP on that. So because I'm not raging about it like you apparently are, I must agree that the game needs to be torn down and started over? lol kay.Comment

Re: Do you guys get bored with MLB The Show?
To be honest last year I became bored with it. I play franchise mode and it has become very stale. The mode hasn't changed very much over the years.
I love the gameplay, but need to be immersed in team building to hold my hook. I love baseball and watch every Yankee game.
Since 09 small tweaks have been added like expanded stat tracking(which is still behind other sports games).
Many of the legacy issues like financial, players salaries(more money in arbitration than free agency) have gone untouched. August trades still don't function correct and even when the top 50 prospect icon was added it was to be expanded on.
It seemed last year if I did a sim with 16 I would have the same results with 17. The mode needs major work.
I really enjoy Association mode in nba and would like to see the depth of that mode in mlb.
I preordered mlb in hopes of some movement, but honestly hope there are some major changes or else don't see it holding my attention long.

I share this same frustration with you. Hang in there though. The slider and roster sub forums are full of us who love the game but can be objective and converse without "social media look at me” hyperbole.
I also am going to really start looking into OOTP fantasy leagues......they do look incredible and immersive. I play OOTP (not nearly as hardcore as The Show) and like the rich interface and options. But I always end up craving pitching and hitting and The Show has the batter/pitcher dual nailed to a freaking tee. It just get’s my juices going and being a former ball player it gives me that fix LOL.
Playing with different classic rosters is what keeps this game always fresh for me. And SOTS is a huge immersion enhancer.
But they do need to really focus on revamping presentation to a big level (like NBA 2K) and franchise mode as well (NBA 2K). Those two elements are on the stale side.....no question. But the gameplay keeps knocking it out of the park.
Perfectly said, its thats pitcher/hitter duel, that MLBTS has perfected that keeps me from just going all in on OOTP. I had hopes when they went from PS3 to PS4, that MLBTS would be closer to what OOTP offers each yr.
Obviously I know, a console game wont ever be able to match a PC text sim, due to lack of memory/power, but SCEA made it sound like when the next gen came out, they could really take the game to where they invisioned it.
I guess what I envisioned was much different than what they enivsionedEveryone who exalts themselves will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted- Luke14-11

Re: Do you guys get bored with MLB The Show?
The irony is in you talking about others reading comprehension, when if you could read my username and comprehend I'm not the OP, you'd probably be safe from attributing things the OP said to me. But hey, it's taken you like 4 posts now to get that so I'm not that surprised. Stay frothy lolcow.
PS. Also bro, my username is "wellred" which is obviously deliberately ironic itself. But good on you for being fast enough to pick up on that, nothing gets by you chum. If there's any more low hanging fruit I need to procure you'll be the first mental midget I call, I promise.Comment

I reported this but wanted quote this part so it cannot be edited (even tho I think mods can still see the edited parts) and to comment as well because this is ridiculous. We cannot have adult conversations because of this childish behavior.

The other guy baited you with his comment here, but you definitely took the bait and went off the rails in your response. Really no need for any of this stuff. Hopefully they show up soon, because I don't think you get paid overtime to be an honorary hall monitor. You can take a non union break whenever you want.Comment
