I have the hardest time with this. I have never been able to play as my favorite team (Yankees) due to not wanting to win every game or win to much, so then ill start as Padres and win a good amount of games and want to restart because would they really win that many games? I struggle with success

Re: How do you stop from starting over??
I only re start my franchises for slider tests until the 2nd or 3rd osfm rosters come out, then it's my universe and no more restarts. It plays out how it plays out.

Re: How do you stop from starting over??
Part of the problem seems to be that you expect that a bad game is somehow tainting something. Every single team in the history of baseball has had games like the one you described. Even the Murderer’s Row Yankees had nights like that.A screaming comes across the sky...Comment

Re: How do you stop from starting over??
I don’t mind the losses as much doing stupid things because of a lack of concentration (swinging at bad pitches, not focusing, etc). Yes I know even the great hitters in real life have poor at bats and games, but I have a hard time dealing with it and I need to be able to get over it, accept the bad outcome and move on. There are no delete or rewind buttons in baseball and I just have to get over that humpYankees modern day

Re: How do you stop from starting over??
When I make a bad swing or watch that fastball right down the middle for a called strike 3.........I go and get another Crown and water until I get my concentration back or get to the point I don’t care. Also, don’t forget about the two nurses.Comment

And take solace that you're in good company....didn't Miguel Cabrerra do that in the WS to give the Giants the win?

Re: How do you stop from starting over??
I don’t count this as starting over but once the game comes out next week I will start a franchise with a team I normally use like the Padres or the Twins. I will wait to start my Cubs franchise until OSFM are released.MLB: Chicago Cubs
NFL: San Diego Chargers
NHL: Chicago Blackhawks
NBA: Chicago Bulls
NCAA: Iowa HawkeyesComment

Re: How do you stop from starting over??
I think my problem is I buy the game too soon knowing I have to wait a month or so for osfm. By time osfm is released I already started franchise mode over 4 times by then. This year I hope I can fight the urge to wait until April when osfm is slated to be released to buy the game.

Re: How do you stop from starting over??
I used to be just as bad as the OP in this regard, but I have gotten better over time.
The main reason is that I am older now with kids and don't have the time to keep restarting like I used to. But I have also gotten much better at just allowing my franchise to take place in an alternate universe rather than fretting over every real world trade, rating change, and injury like I used to.
I play 1/sim 5 so I can get deeper into franchise mode and I find that the deeper I can get the more attached to the players (especially my draft picks) I become which prevents me from wanting to restart.
The key is for me to find the right team to start with and get through the first season.Comment

Re: How do you stop from starting over??
Help!!! I buy this game every year. I love playing it, but I have OCD and keep starting over. I go through all of the work of setting up my 30-team control Yankees and Mets franchises. Then I get 9-10 games in to each franchise. Then I have that “off night” when I’m playing and I can’t seem to concentrate, swing at bad pitches, make horrible pitching decisions, etc. I then get frustrated and fast forward to the end of the game. Then I feel like I’ve “cheated the game” and feel the need to start my whole franchise over again. I’m embarrassed to say this, but I have never made it past 25 games in a season. Keep playing the same games over and over again.
How do you fight the urge to start over again if you have a bad game because you can’t concentrate (tired, can’t focus, etc)Check out my updated 2017 blog on building a high school football video game:

Re: How do you stop from starting over??
My problem isn’t just a loss. It’s even worse! For example, Last night I was batting with Gary Sanchez with 2 guys on base. I’m actually winning the game 5-1. In a brief lapse of concentration, I swing at the 1st pitch which was WAY out of the strike zone and pop out. I get so frustrated that I fast forward the game and NJdelete my franchise because I now feel like I cheated. Now I have to go home after work and start my franchise over again. Now with 2018 due to come out soon I’m thinking “why bother” even starting over? But this happens EVERY year. I’m a 54-year old man trying to play a game that I’m supposed to get plenty of enjoyment from. My wife thinks it may be time for me to retire!!!Comment

Re: How do you stop from starting over??
You probably won't stop until you start valuing your time more. I used to be the type to play every inning of every 162 games in a season. Play all year and then start over and do it all again next year. Because I had the same feeling of "cheating the game" if I simulated any part of it.
Once I realized how much time I was investing I stopped. I was more so "working" video games instead of actually "playing" them.Comment

Re: How do you stop from starting over??
Don't quit, I am 54 also and I was able to play an entire season one time. Like others have said, take a break. Maybe try playing a postseason first and win a world series to get that out of your system. One other thing less is more if you are going to play a season/franchise don't play more than 3 games a day. Good luck and remember the game should be fun first.Yankees modern day
